American Idol week of 3/2

Funny, the part I liked was the beginning.

I wanted to like Lacey but she’s just not very good. Needs some better hair too.

The judges are gonna hammer Katie for being too “mature”.

Katie is having trouble with the heels, but her voice was nice until the end when she tried to glory-note it.

Katie has the best voice of al the girls. The judges need to fuck off with this completely meaningless, empty bullshit about her age.

My god, Kara is full of herself this season, isn’t she? It’s almost like she thinks anyone gives a shit about her opinion.

Katie – I have a soft spot for that song, so I guess I enjoyed it. Technically quite good but not powerful. I wasn’t moved. Not really memorable.

Katie was the number one vote getter among the girls last week. You’d never know that by listening to the judges, who seem desperate to dump her for some reason.

Or not.

Both Kara and Simon beat that drum again this week.

This is really just a wretched season. these episodes just drag on and on. I still can’t remember who half of them are, and nobody is really very interesting even in a VFTW way.

Do people really think that “Put Your Records On” is an old person’s song? Crap, I’m really old?!?

She had to look up “indulgent?” and then she was confused because she didn’t understand that Simon meant self-indulgent? America’s got stupid, yo.

My head’s gonna explode. For years Simon’s been telling contestants that this is a competition, and tonight he criticizes Lacey for “treating this like a competition”!

Also, Haeley (sp?) has way too much hair – it’s overpowering.

Didi kinda scares me.

This song has one of the simplest melodies. Why is she singing ten notes when one will do fine?

Didi, week’s worst song choice? I like her, why is she doing this to herself?

“Lean On Me” is a total karaoke song, and this is a totally karaoke performance.

Welp, I just downloaded Sims 3 World Adventures. Idol has been on the whole time but-- the Sims has held my attention. I keep peeking at the TV but it’s not grabbing my attention. I can’t really blame the contestants-- I can’t find the freakin’ relics!

But I swear, if I hear the words karaoke’\ or original (either “be more original” or “don’t be so original”) one more time from the judges, I’m gonna hire Paula Abdul to sealclap them all across the face.

Creed? You haven’t opened your mouth yet and you can already go home. I don’t care if you sound great, you don’t sing Creed. What’s next, is Siobhan gonna tackle Nickelback?

Also, if it’s anything other than “With Arms Wide Open,” I believe the rules of the Idol Drinking Game state that you have to chug-a-lug.

Well, I don’t get it. There are people up there caterwauling all over the place (Haeley and Lacey, for two) and they get high praise. Then Didi - who didn’t choose the best song but sung it well - gets some of the worst comments of the night. What the hell?

I was folding laundry at the time, but I have to say I can’t stand Katie Stevens. She’s got a decent voice, but Simon was exactly right - she belongs in pageants and talent shows (hey, wait a minute…) - she has no artistic presence. Maybe it’s just because she’s young but there’s no THERE there. Plus she’s totally annoying.

But whatever, this is a talent show, so I guess I shouldn’t complain that the contestants are pageant-y.
