I have no idea what the judges are thinking this year. I know they want a girl to win, but I can’t for the life of me tell who. As much as they pimp Crystal, I can’t see them wanting her to take it all. I thought it was Katie, but they have been dogging her. I thought maybe Didi, but they seem to be keeping her only to see if they can get her to cry. And there’s no way Michelle or Siobhan will win. So who?

I was starting to type my Post of Outrage in response to the inexplicable judges’ praise of Michelle’s completely boring and tone-deaf performance.
But who cares? Everything I enjoyed about the show last season has gotten sucked out this year.

I did not like that nearly as much as the judges did. I thought she ripped all the emotion out of it.

I thought that was pretty good, certainly better than pretty much everyone else, but I don’t think it was that spectacular. I guess Adam kind of ruined that song for me, he did such an amazing job with it in the finale last year.
So which Coldplay song for Katelyn? I’m guessing “The Scientist,” but who knows.
Lilly was good but not better than Crystal, IMHO.
That song got ruined for me by Taylor Hicks. I was flpping through the channels and saw him singing it. Had never seen an episode of Idol before, have never missed one since.
Please don’t go back to the start, it would take another 5 years to get through the song at that odd snail’s pace.

ETA: I don’t actually know that song very well so it didn’t seem too slow to me. She did what she was supposed to do: take a song that she can connect with and bring to the audience in a new way. Other than her staring a little too intently at the camera, I found nothing wrong with that at all. Nice work, Katelyn.
