Ok, so I’m tired and I read this as “kept getting WORKED up last night by cats in heat…” and I thought–wow, we get all kinds on the SDMB.
I am still laughing at the marshmallows. #2 son thinks that’s very funny. We figured out where the Guitar Hero guitar went! #2 son vaguely remembered one of #1 son’s friends being over the day before he left. I called and it turned out that #1 son had lent it to this friend. (I was beginning to think that we had had a burglar who only wanted the GH, and not the Wii or the puters). Mystery solved!
Am home from work. I don’t like rude people. Annoying Coworker won’t even return my “good morning”. I think if she does it again, I’m going to invade her space a bit, smile and repeat it until she replies. Jerk.
It’s hot here; I miss Hazel posting–we know she has no life in Korea, so where is she? (said with love, darling). I’m not making dinner, either. So there.
Hey, my paycheck was BIG BUCKS this time around–staying late and working more hours pays off (how odd… heh).
Mr. Taters was going to go out on our neighbor’s boat today and play, but decided he’s too tired and just came home.
I have been asked to stop by the grocery store to pick up pop, chips and assorted other sundries. Among some of the groceries I was asked to pick up were the ingredients for, and I quote, “THOSE FRIGGIN’ GOOD POTATOES!!” Yes, **Swampy ** dearest, this is the new name for your potato, onion, worcesteshire (spelled incorrectly, I’m sure, but I don’t care) recipe.
I think you should PINCH AC when she doesn’t respond to your greeting, Rigs. She does sound like a very rude BEE-YOTCH.
Hm, an hour and 15 minutes to go. Blech, this week seems to be very, very long.
OK, today has been a bad computer day for me. I’m not going into the fiasco at work, but suffice it to say, I easily wasted 6.5 hours. At least I got help from one of my new team mates. So yay for that.
Since being home, I’ve gotten BSOD TWICE!!! This computer is over 5 years old - maybe it’s telling me something. Like I can afford a new one right now… We’ll see if this gets posted. I did a defrag and a scan, so maybe I’m OK. Wish I had a resident computer geek here.
In other news, I’ve taken tomorrow off. It’s picnic day at work and the CO said no work was to be done. Well, I wasn’t going to sit around all day not working, and I definitely wasn’t going to the picnic. So I’ll be here painting and stuff.
Got off work early today. I went to the laundromat. Stopped by the RBC Center, they had old style jerseies on clerance($165 reg, $135 on sale). I grabbed a away Eric Staal one. Happy Happy Joy Joy!
FCM, nope, didn’t see your BSOD post.
Does AC do it to everybody, rigs, or just you?
gotti, my customers description of 16 oz. foam cups is “small paper cups” :dubious: I like my foreign customers better, the descriptions make more sense in Arabic.
Soapy, I watched part of Spain’s beat down of the Russkies at the laundromat.
Oh, it’s just me. Sometime in the last 4 months, she has decided that I am unacceptable. Probably because she wouldn’t listen when I tried to tell her that she was incorrectly dosing a pt. I wasn’t nasty about it or smug–it was an honest mistake, compounded by pharmacy’s misleading label. It went to our ANM, then our NM, then Pharm and sure enough–I was right and AC was wrong. She has been a Jerk ever since. (she’s always had jerk propensity–she is a known bully that NM and ANM put up with because that shift slot is hard to fill. And she is a good nurse.)
Sad thing is, I like her–or I find her likable. But I won’t be bullied. I’ve come too far in nursing and done too much to be pushed around by someone who thinks it’s her way or the highway. I get along with my other coworkers, but true to my form, you’ll only ever hear about HER.
TH is spending his Bday bowling with his admin team from work. I think this is a good thing, but the kids are mildly disappointed.
Damn. I just did a nice thing. Work called and said I could be off tomorrow, but I said since the weather is “nice” (I hate heat and humidity. YMMV), why not give someone else a turn. So, another coworker has the day off. NOT AC, unfortunately. So now tomorrow, I work with AC and her best friend. And me. Joy. Remember: it’smoneyit’smoneyit’smoney…
I’ve been watching the updates about the European Cup on German news. The newscasters have been uncharacteristically giddy. The coverage leading up to the Germany-Turkey match was interesting, since Germany has the largest Turkish population outside Turkey and there are lots of culture-clash issues.
Sorry about the bad news, taxi.
I’ll try to type the salad recipe up tonight. I make it a little differently every time.
I HAVE NEW GUTTERS!!! Yay!!! They did an extremely nice job again. If I hadn’t been paying attention to what the previous gutters looked like, I might not have noticed because you can’t tell that anyone was here. Plants are all untouched (I was worried about the beds on one side of the house) and there’s no litter. I got another estimate in the mail today. It was quite a bit higher than the people I went with (although for exactly the same products).
Maybe there is such a thing as a free lunch. All of us got invites to the Mon-Sat lunch buffet that runs during the summer! Personlized, at that. I never turn down free food.
Things are going awfully…well, lately. looking around suspiciously
I don’t think Steve the Affordable Computer Repair Guy makes house calls down your way, Moooom; otherwise, I’d send him to you. Cause he’s good and affordable. (Ya think)
Yay for new gutters, gt! And speaking of, thanks for the reminder. The gutter on the west side of our house needs to be cleared; there’s a slow drip from the upstream end of it. It hasn’t rained here in several days, it should not still be dripping. Time to dig out the ladder.
Yay for free food, snowbunny!
I was so tired after finishing the first, biggest chunk of that job that I died and went to bed for a 2-1/2 hour nap. I must say I feel more human now, which is probably a good thing since I may end up working most if not all night to get the rest of this thing done. (Don’t yell at me, snowbunny, that’s why I took the nap, and I’ve got all weekend to get back to normal!) Oh, goodie.
I’ll probably pop in and visit with the night shift occasionally, so you guys had better not misbehave too much!
Hey, MBG. They had a school-bus related story on NPR the other day, about districts that were having to limit bus service because of gas prices. I thought of you, of course. Are you having extra issues because of that?
So does this mean the 5:30 a.m. wake-up scheme worked, LiLi? If so, I’m so sorry.
Yet another storm is moving through the area tonight, although this time it’s a bit south of me. Seemed to come out of nowhere while I was out. I can feel the pressure change in my ears and sinuses, but there’s only a few sprinkles here. South of me, there’s been lots of lightning. (We got more than our share last night; it looked like fireworks.)
I’ve been to Home Depot to get paint chips for the house exterior. I’m still deciding what order to paint stuff in (outside or inside first). I’d like to move back into my room, but it’s not actually urgent. So maybe I’ll start with the exterior and then move inside. Some of it will depend on the weather, of course. Which will probably mean I’ll switch off between indoors and outdoors as weather allows.
Tired due to very little sleep last night. Guess I’ll try crawling into bed early tonight…
I guess we’re having our friend over to dinner, so I picked up some very nice ribeyes and I’m making “THE FRIGGIN’ GOOD POTATOES!”, along with a salad. Should be good. Our friend should be here anytime now. Once he gets here, I’ll start. It won’t take long to cook dinner, so I’d rather just wait until he gets here.
So sorry about everyone’s bad news, taxi.
Yay for nice new gutters, gt!
I had another nice thing happen to me tonight in the grocery store. The guy that was standing behind the meat counter just happens to have gone to school with my daughter. He’s not a butcher, but he was working that section. Anyway, I explained that I couldn’t find any prepackaged ribeye steaks. He immediately went to call the butcher over the loudspeaker. In the meantime, another employee came by and told us the butcher had clocked out. Just a minute after that, the butcher showed up. He had his jacket on and all his personal stuff, so it was obvious, he was literally on his way out the door. He went to the back without any hesitation and cut five very nice ribeye steaks for me…off the clock.
I know, it’s kind of a small thing, but still he didn’t have to do it. So, that’s twice today that people have gone out of their way for me. It really brightened my day.
Well, I should at least get stuff prepped and ready to cook.
Tomorrow a charity is coming by to pick up our recliner loveseat, which will be replaced by the new recliner chair that will also be delivered tomorrow. That recliner loveseat has been Isaac’s favorite place to sleep at night for several years now. So after we pushed it out the front door to get picked up in the a.m., Isaac got off his dog bed in the corner, stopped and gave Papa Tigs a Look, and then heaved a big sigh and flopped down on the floor. Hee!
Papa Tigs being a massive sucker, he is now going to clear off the twin bed in the spare room so Isaac can have that for his new bed. Because he’s getting arthritic and the floors are cold at night, don’t you know? (snowbunny is probably rolling on the floor laughing right now; Papa Tigs was Mr. “Dogs do NOT belong on the furniture, EVER!” when we first brought the boys home! )
I figured “dogs don’t belong on the furniture” went right out the door years ago – possibly the first time I saw Papa Tigs on the sofa along with the dogs! Hee! Poor Isaac, losing his bed!
You do realize he’s probably going to take over the new chair, right?
Yes, we’re trying to decide if he’ll give up and curl up in the chair, or just sulk on his dog bed, or best of all, get the real bed. My vote is for the latter. You know that Papa Tigs will do just about anything for that dog!
Dare I risk it - I’ve had the computer on for an hour and no BSOD yet, altho it happened at least twice more last night. MamaTigs - if I can’t find someone here, I may send my computer up your way with my kid and have your guy check it out. Can’t be without my 'puter, you know.
I’m up insanely early on my day off because I can’t sleep. Not sure why, but I’ve been up since before 4. And it sucks.
Today, **FCD ** intends to finish the plumbing and the framing, and I’ll be painting the OSB panels that’ll make up my laundry room. There’s a little more wire and cable to pull, and we can start with drywall. Daughter is bringing home a co-counselor this weekend - woohoo! Two more sets of hands to help!
