an early yet hurried MMP

I am so impressionable. We have one little girl here with a lovely English accent, and I find myself mimicking here. It was great when I was studying foreign languages, but I’m afraid it may seem affected now. Mebbe I should just hush!

Seems to be clouding over - we could use a nice, cooling rain. Off to check the weather radar. Then I need to think about supper. Always something.

Well good Caturday morning to you all! I’m very tired, but in a good way–spent yesterday running around busier than a one armed NOT(axi) driver with crabs, then got back to the shop around four to find out everybody but me and my partner had to go pick up kids/spouses so there we were with 35 kits laid out on the shop floor and two bundles of boxes. So we high-geared it and got all 35 reet and skeet and out the door, which made the distributor happy because he ordered fifty with a delivery date of 7/1 and he has 35 as of the 27th and the other 15 should go out on 7/3 so we’re pretty much hitting our deadline, yay us! Now we have to gear up, because we have another shitload of orders waiting–but that’s next week’s trouble!

I’m really, REALLY glad I’m borrowing my daughter’s car this week while they’re gone because of the A/C–I would’ve been a raging biyotch if I’d had to do all that in the heat as well! As it was I was very tired when I got home so I hopped into a nice cold shower, Himself fed me an incredibly nommy kitchen sink fried rice with chicken bombs, then we pointed the nice new swamp cooler (which is incredible!) and a fan or two into the bedroom for a movie watching/appreciation evening…which didn’t wind up until about 2am! The new neighbor was having a houswarming and invited us over–sorry buddy!

Which is why this morning all I had energy for was slinking out to the local cawfeeshoppe for a nice mocha and a bagel. There were two empty comfy chairs right where I like to sit, an endless parade of darling puppies on leashes led by cute couples in shorts passing by and an array of horrifically cute kids running around, including one little girl who was a dead ringer for Dora the Explorer who had Himself in paroxysms of acute cute poisoning. Then I found a half flat of Hood River strawberries to go with the cheesecake I talked myself into last night! Does it get any better? The weather is beautiful this morning, clear and bright and sunny and a little breezy with that foreshadowing of heat later on. We’re prepared–the swamp cooler (Himself calls it R2-D2 because it LOOKS like that!) is chock full of water and ice, the fans are perfectly situated to enhance the coolth and exhaust the warmth, the curtains are closed to prevent the entrance of hostile sunrays into my comfy environment. I suspect naps are likely to ensue…

I have mulch too, but not nearly as much as Rigs does–I might take care of that tomorrow morning before it gets toasty…

Hope everybody has at least half as nice a day as I’m having today… :stuck_out_tongue:

Me, too! I was practically mute while in UK because I was afraid they’d think I was aping them, and I wasn’t–I just pick up accents really, really fast. And in France, I was also mute because I don’t know French and was too shy to even try. This was 2 years ago!

Ok, I’m going back out there… if you don’t see a flare in about 20 minutes, evacuate the area.

Ivoryhusband says thanks for the birthday call outs and nice words about Ivoryson’s big day–

and wonders aloud if I’m Rapunzel why he isn’t Prince Charming… :dubious:

How much fun that Muppet and **LiLi **get to play! (pouty face)

Special1- if you forgotten last pages stories-- one word-- Snuts.

Feel better Rosie- post when you can!

In the story of Rapunzel the gentleman is referred to as just prince. Like a sort of generic random prince that was wanderin’ around for no apparent reason and was drawn to the tower by Rapunzel’s singing. So, ask IvoryHusband if he wants to be thought of as the type that wanders aimlessly around peakin’ in ladies’ towers.

I took the ham off the smoker a bit ago. After allowing it to rest, I sliced a bit off the end. YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!

I need to slice it cause I envision refrigeratin’ it over night and allowing it to warm up in the slow cooker whilst churchifyin’ tomorrow mornin’.

Well, don’t it figure. Daughter got to camp, parked, checked in, and when she came out to her car, there was a puddle of oil under it and a stream of oil pouring out. We’re taking a ride up there tomorrow to see if it’s something simple like a hose. Hope it’s easy. And cheap.

<sigh>

[Frodo] It’s done. [/Frodo]

And just in time–bad weather moved in and it poured here for about 7 minutes, then there was a rainbow, now it’s sunny and soon we will have another “cell” move through.

I am squeaky clean now and more tired than the average bear. I’m glad I got it all done today. We actually need MORE mulch (we have a very large yard), but I don’t want any more deliveries for a bit.

I think I’ll watch a movie tonight and just veg.

YUM! I just finished off a gyro from a local Greek deli (Marathon in College Park) that my daughter picked up for me yesterday. It was -so- good! Yes, even a day later, heated in the microwave!! It had tons of feta cheese sauce and onions on it too … LOL my breath is probably quite onion-y and garlicky right now. Marathon has spoiled me, though - I won’t accept a gyro from anywhere else now.

Thanks for the info about Mardi Gras beads, MamaTigs; I didn’t know that and thought that you had to flash to get them!! Nice to know that it’s a family-oriented celebration, rather than what they show on tv.

FCM, I’ve been to that Golden Corral in Waldorf - they’re good, or at least they were the last time I was there. There used to be a bakery right across the street from it too - the Wigwam, which made indecently huge chocolate eclairs (seriously, they were -gigantic-!), but alas they went out of business. :frowning: I don’t have transportation that way right now, though!

Happy birthday to PrinceCharming LOL although I don’t think Rapunzel’s hubby was ever mentioned by name, and Charming was either Snow White or Sleeping Beauty’s. LOL

So hot and humid out today! Daughter and I did do a few errands this AM, ending up at Tarjay. I’ve also been crocheting away. My daughter got me a larger gauge hook and I’ve got a nice piece of scarf done so far. I -may- yet start an afghan. Tomorrow, hopefully, will be a bit cooler and I’ll finish grocery shopping and maybe even get to the local farmer’s market. I’m hoping to get some fresh fruits and veggies. They are so good, and good for you too.

We are currently finishing dinner together, and Nat has just finally gone to sleep.

So there.

Well, pooh on the oil leak, FCM. At least she was able to get back safely. Hope it’s something easy.

Can you come to my house now and finish up my mulching, rigs? (Owwwww! Stop hitting me!!!)

Hope you’re feeling better and more energized soon, rosie posy. I’ll bet it won’t be long before you’ll wonder why all that walking was so tiring.

I’ve got quite a few items sorted out in the basement. Looks like I won’t really need a whole lot of equipment for painting. I have all kinds of roller covers. I also have a bunch of stuff that could go to a garage sale (a futon cover I don’t like, 3 wallpaper scrapers (I’ve already removed all the wallpaper this house contained), probably some other stuff I haven’t come across yet). I’m sure the recycling and trash people are going to love me this week. I’ve got all kinds of stuff for them.

Also…I finally located my cookie cutters, which have been misplaced for about 3 years. They slipped between a couple of bags in the basement. But now they’re found. Yay!

Guess I should get back down there…

GT

I’m working on my paper doll clothes! I so wish that I could make these outfits for real. They are adorable if I can say so myself! I need to get more experience with my sewing machine.

ETA: First on 10 without trying! YAY!!!

It’s HAWT in here dammit. We’ve got the fans going, but at this point all they’re doing is blowing warm air around.

The workout was good, and we stopped at Starbucks for a frosty treat on the way home. I probably blew my workout to hell because I treated myself to a strawberries and cream frozen something or another. It was tasty and hit the spot.

That’s okay…we’re being good and eating light for dinner. Yet another recipe from one of my low fat cookbooks.

Mr. Taters wants to go out to breakfast tomorrow and then go to the boat dealership and see about selling our boat on consignment there. At first, he was talking about going out to play on the boat tomorrow, so I really don’t know what we’ll be doing.

That sure sucks about your daughter’s car, FCM. I hope it’s a cheap and easy fix too.

I was going to type something else, but I think the heat in this room has completely fried my mind, because I can’t remember what I was going to type.

We seriously do not need to call my husband Prince Charming. Did we all miss the dubious face on that post???

Hi to all the night crew--

See you in the morning…

How do you make a paper doll?

Screw an old bag.

swings head around Did I hear a wish for fish? Toss out those tiny trout, and I’ll send some respectable fish to thwack those in need of thwacking! If you’d like I could send them unfrozen so they will be delightfully decomposing, yet still firm enough to deliver a good solid blow.

Happy belated birthday soapy, and the same to soapyhusband.

Also, Happy belated birthday to muppet, too.

Yay for the new jobs boofae and…umm…muppet? Spazz? I am failing at retaining details, I am afraid. Also yay for mcune keeping your job!

Boo for the BSOD, that bites, FCM. On the other hand, maybe FCD fixed it, in which case yay! Big boo to your daught’s car spewing oil, I really hope it’s nothing much.

Happy Wedding Day gotti and DH!

Yay for a new roof and gutters, boo on needing them. I hope the new roof lasts many many years GT

Mama Tigs has bags of Mardi Gras beads? ooooh, not fair! I bet one could fashion cool bead curtains from them. I like the sparkly jewel colored beads, and my kids bring them home to me when they get some for prizes at school or at Crab Fest.

It’s been another week of crazy here, both of the kid’s caught skiffman’s “food poisoning”. So far my insides are running as they ought to be. I am feeling much better, yay! However…

The Son is a young 15. Holding him back in the 5th grade was a good move. He has never been away from me except for spending the night here in town, or going with his best friend to Pasagshak for a weekend. I didn’t want anyone on my case for keeping him wrapped up in my apron strings, so when Brother Brad called and wanted him in Homer I bit my lip and let him go. The downside has been that they aren’t actually working right now, the boat has needed some work, and it’s nothing he is able to do other than hand tools and other gofer work. He has been really bored. After the first few days he began to get homesick. The thing that pushed him over the edge was catching that flu. When he throws up he wants me to sit up with him, he really has a hard time with it, and he was sick on the boat at night after Brad had gone off to his friend’s place for the night. So my kid was all alone, homesick, and sick as a dog. He will be on the ferry coming in tonight. His best friend is very excited, so I am guessing that he will just walk back into the yard work that he and his buddy have been doing.

The Dog Food Dilemma: I feed a premium kibble to both my dogs and cats. The feed store in town sold out, and then that owner sold out, and the new feed store can’t seem to keep supplies enough for the demand. Last week I ran out of dog food and called, no dog food until this week. (Thursday) I called the feed store out in Bell’s Flats (it’s a way out the road, a different prefix even!) and spoke with the owner. She said that she was going to run into town on Monday and would bring me a bag of dog food. Over the weekend all the dogs ate puppy food. Monday came and went and no show from the Bell’s Flats woman, so I figured I could hold them off until Thursday with puppy kibble. On Thursday I called the owner here in town and surprise, there is no feed on the barge’s manifest. No food possible until next Thursday. At this point I was filled with grrrrr, so I talked a friend into taking a drive out to Bell’s Flats to get some dog food. I am so glad this happened, as I found that this feed store stocks more brands of food, and a really great dog food brand is not just stocked, but is stocked in Wee Bites. Yay! When I came home I put down an even number of bowls with each kind of kibble, and hands (or paws!) down they went for the new food. And TMI, but other than a bit of canine gas, their poo’s were, well, fabulous poos, if you have to deal with poos, which I do. So I have set up an account there and will be getting my dog and cat food from the Bell’s Flats store. Besides, it’s a nice drive, too. (Yes, I am very particular about my pets. I could focus my OCD on something worse, so it’s all good. :D)

The temp here is a whopping 55 F, with wind from the SE which means rain. My trollius (big bushy flowering plant) was glorious, but a gusty, rainy night fricken flattened it. Ah well, I did get a couple of photos when it was pretty, and it will come back next year even bigger. Some of my other flowers are trying, hopefully we will have a nicer July. I need some sun and heat!

Well, I have rambled on, so I had best get something busy. It’s puppy bath day, so I will try to get some good photos. Right now they are either in perpetual motion or passed out asleep! I really do enjoy having puppies, nothing is so bad if you have a little fuzz butt to cuddle.

Ta!

I’m curious as to what makes for fabulous dog poos – I’ve cleaned up a lot of dog poo, and I found that frozen was my favorite. Cuts way down on the smell. But now that I’m not working with dogs and don’t have any I guess it’s a moot point. I love dogs, but…ewww. (Though what comes out of their anal glands is far worse than any poo!)

Bead curtains? That is a great idea! I’ve only got one bag of beads, but it’s a big bag…hmm, I wonder what I could do with them!

I’d send you a couple bags of beads, kai, but you do not want to know how expensive it would be. Tell you what – if you ever seriously want beads, you can order them probably cheaper than I could send them from my favorite bead store in New Orleans, Beads By the Dozen. They can probably ship cheaper than I can! We used to go there in person to shop for special beads and bead bags; in fact, I just ordered a bunch of bead bags from them to use for my yarn. They’re great for yarn storage – moisture-proof and easy to handle. I miss having that store nearby!

For me, “fabulous” dog poos are ones that are nice and solid and don’t smell too much. Rusty produces excellent poos. Isaac’s, alas, are a bit messier. Whatever the texture, however, what gets me is that for both dogs, the output seems to exceed the input!

We need more puppy pics!

Oh, and snowbunny? You could always steal some of the beads we gave your aunt. I suspect they were more than she expected/wanted!

It’s so hot it felt like I was burning when I walked Nelly. And it was only 84 outside… Speaking of poo, somebody had an accident in the ladies room. Actually it was more like somebody’s rectum exploded(Rectum? Damn near killed 'em!), judging by the mess.

Sorry about the sickness kai. Nelly has excellent poo, as does Thrakazog.

Thanks for the Mardi Gras update, MamaTigs.

 about the oil, FCM. At least it was at camp, and not on the highway somewhere.

Hugs, beerveages, and fish slappings to everyone I forgot.

But was the rectum prehensile?

It may have been.
