You two look like sisters, I swear.
Our late breakfast was good. We came home, collected my son’s broken specs, and then he and I went to WallyWorld to see about fixing them somehow. They’re fixed now. I bought myself a pair of shorts that actually fit for about 14 bucks. I didn’t know how they would fit until I got home because I couldn’t find the fraggin’ dressing room.
After that, we stopped by Great Clips where my son proceeded to have most of his hair cut off. :eek: It looks nice, but I must admit I was shocked that he decided to have that much cut off. There was enough hair on the floor to make about three or four puppies; no lie.
After that, we ran into Safeway where I picked up the fixin’s for BLTs (FINALLY!), and some marinaded beef kabob thingies. We’re having the BLTs tonight. I guess we’ll do the kabobs tomorrow.
It’s 95 freakin’ degrees outside. 95!! I want to run around nekked, but somehow I think that would freak my kids out.

I’m a nice person. No, really. I got a call asking if I could come in for a few hours this evening because one of my coworkers is sick and can’t come in. I can only work so many hours, so this means I’ll be not working another day this week (tomorrow, I hope!) but since this is the first time I’ve been asked and I’ve been there six months I’ll do it. This time, anyway. I can only think of a couple of other occasions where somebody was asked to come in, so I don’t expect to be taken advantage of in the future.
So I’m leaving in a couple of minutes since I need to stop at the store real quick on my way in. It’s only four hours, anyway. Not a big deal.
Hey! I have to go outside and repair a couple of flower tubs that some very bad cats have been digging in. :mad: Any suggestions for discouraging cats from my nice soft flower dirt short of maiming them would be hugely appreciated.
If no one wants Monday, I’ll take it.

Aww … sorry about the bad kitties digging in your flowers, kai. I don’t have any suggestions to keep them from doing it either, unfortunately. 
Maybe there is something you can plant on the outer edge that cats don’t like? Wild ass guess there, btw.
Oh boy, I have to agree with others that LiLi and MahnaX2 look like sisters! And wow, has TNC grown!! He’s a big boy, LiLi, and such a cutie! 
We have a [del]sucker[/del] volunteer for the new MMP. kai has graciously stepped forward (I especially loved the little soft shoe flourish!) to be our hostess with the mostess.

I just got out of a nice long soak in the whirlpool bath tub. I’m all squeeky clean and smell good. Just thought y’all would like to know.
MamaTigs, guess where the last person I talked to is coming in from.
Here is the recipe for Heath Bar Cake. It’s not a cakey-cake…
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp bkg soda
1 egg
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts (I use pecans)
4-5 Heath Bars chopped up or use the premade pkg.
9 x 13 pan. Oven at 350.
Cream butter and sugar; add flour. Mix slowly, then reserve 3/4 cup of mixture. Add bkg soda to remainder. Mix in egg, vanilla and milk. Pour into pan. Sprinkle with reserved mix, top with nuts and Heath Bar bits. Bake for approx. 35 minutes (may need less time).
It will look odd when it’s a batter. There may even be bits of butter floating in it–no worries.
I had coffee (well, Earl Grey tea, actually–I’ve caught the comma disease from FCM!) with my friend who seems to be dealing with her mom’s death well. Now I’m wondering what to do with my evening.

If I had a buck for every person who has commented on the resemblance between me and LiLi, I’d be a rich woman by now (hell, I’d just have made five bucks on this thread alone!). We used to get that all the time in high school, too.
I guess there are some similarities, but c’mon… she’s half-Japanese! I suppose there are worse people I could resemble, though (Camilla Parker-Bowles, Paris Hilton, Amanda LePore, or Ross Perot… just to name a few)
We decided to go out for Vietnamese for dinner because I didn’t feel up to cooking (especially since I’d have to clean the kitchen first, which I feel even less up to doing right now). A bowl full of pho does the belly good. Nom nom nom.
rigs, that cake looks yummy. Must try that next time I feel like something sweet… like, maybe tomorrow.
kai, a lot of cats hate the smell of citrus, so you might want to try scattering some orange peels to see if that chases them away. Cayenne pepper might also help. Otherwise, ain’t much you can do short of planting some bushes with very, very big spikes on them.

Have I mentioned that I’m only workin’ one and a half days this week? YAY!!! Tomorrow is a normal work day. Tuesday there’s a meetin’ in the mornin’ and after that I am off for the rest of the week. With no plans. Except for the Fourth when we’re goin’ to hang with some friends at their place, eat lots of grilled food and drink mass quantities of beerverages, i.e. your standard Fourth of July.
Maybe LiLi and Muppet are each other’s evil twin.
To be honest, Li-Li, the pictures weren’t exactly close-ups of the both of you. The fact that both of you were basically wearing the same kind of outfit kind of enhanced the whole sister/twin thing.
I guess we’re going to attempt to wash the dog. It’s hot, so we’ll just hose him down and lather him up outside. Poor widdle doggie has no idea what’s in store for him.
