an early yet hurried MMP

Li-Li - put down the chips and back away from the table!!
I’ll take those chips for, uh, safe keeping, yeah, that’s the ticket.
Do not look to be for motivation. I am Queen Schlub!

The new digs aren’t too bad - but I have to get better earbuds. My right ear is killing me. I still have two thirds of a box to unpack, but most of that stuff is still leftover from the move in early Spring 2003 - I think I can get rid of that stuff now, if I haven’t had need of it since then.
The desk is small, the commute sucks, but the food court has a lovely salad bar. And I will be doing a lot of walking, so I am bound to get healthier (you’re probably sick of me saying that aren’t you? tough. :stuck_out_tongue:  )

taxi & tigs - Glad you liked it. My first truly TMI story. But you’re right, Tigs, gravelly fungus is a good way to add an extra-spicy hit of TMI to a tale. (Wow. Ew.)

GT & TowerDweller - Well, it was soilerboxed for a reason. If it makes you feel any better though it still gives me the screaming willies just thinking about it.

Simple dinner tonight. Smoked ham on kaisers. Mmmm. Then we’ll probably watch the original Halloween later on. (We recently watched Rob Zombie’s remake, and I concluded that his version is how Halloween would have been done originally if it were made by a redneck. I’m surprised there wasn’t more butt rock in the soundtrack. So we’re watching the original to cleanse the cinematic palate. Okay, I liked the additional backstory Rob provided, but that’s about it. The rest of the movie follows the original in only the loosest sense and takes a crapload of creative liberties. Argh! How the hell do I get out of these parentheses?)

Oh. There we go.

Dindin was good. Ol’ y’all know who had to eat and leave cause he has some work to finish up, poor thing. It’s a crazy busy week for him. We’re hopin’ tomorrow can be spend the night night but we’ll have to see.

gt young lady, that work is not going to do itself you know. Now march in there and get busy reading. I said march! Don’t you look at me like that! Now get busy!

Howzzat?

BioTigs

GOT THAT RECYCLIN’ OUT YET???

Think I’ll go take a jacuzzi bath and sip on a glass of wine.

Roofers are gone. They did an OUTSTANDING job of clean-up. No tarpaper, no nails; nothing that would give you the idea that anyone had been working on the house all day. Plants are impressively undamaged, too. Yay!

It appears that they’re done with the roof and only have the gutters left to do.

Think I’ll go for a little walk and then get moving on that reading, just like Unca Swampy ordered.

This Has Not Been A Good Day.

Pass the vodka.

No one’s getting what’s left of my cheese chips!

I just saw a map… Remember how I said it seems like all of Nothern California is on fire? Take a gander at http://activefiremaps.fs.fed.us/# and you’ll see that I wasn’t exaggerating all that much. And that’s just the major ones. One news story said that something like 340 fires started over the weekend.

We smelled smoke at home this morning. Guessing it was from the amusingly named Wild fire. Of course it’s a wildfire, but they happened to name it Wild, even though “Green Valley” might have been a less confusing option, since that’s the area it’s in.

No need to shout, Swampy; Papa Tigs always takes the recycling out as soon as he gets home on Monday. Which is a good thing; if it was left up to me, it would go out maybe once a month. If that often. :smack:

Yay for neat, clean roofers, gt!

All those California fires are scary, gotti – fingers crossed they stay well away from you, as well as other areas where people live! And a friend of mine in SoCal a couple years ago had to evacuate because of the Day fire, which needless to say lasted more than a day. :dubious: I do wonder where they get these names sometimes. (As an aside, the woman who led the fire team on the Day fire also led the fire team on snowbunny’s Castle Rock fire last year – she’s very good, needless to say.)

Why do you need the vodka and cheese chips, LiLi, or should I not ask?

Is it bedtime yet?

Whew - I’m late to the party. I had a big post written in my head as I did the stuff I’ve been doing, but I don’t think I can manage. So…

{{{SCL}}} and {{{Mork}}} and one more for {{{**kai ** & skiffman}}}

**MamaTigs ** - when in doubt, blame **swampy ** - that’s what I do!

**BBBobbio ** - way cool story and pics! But you need to provide photos of you in action one of these days!

Last night was nerve-wracking. Poor old Taz wasn’t his usual self - I’m thinking he was having a reaction to his shots. By 3AM, he was back to his normal, walking on my head, demanding skritches, generally pestering me. So I was beat when I got up.

Today, I wrapped up the last of my old project, then met some of the new team. I’m hoping I didn’t get in over my head - my first task is due on July 2 - that’s a week from Weds! According to the project leader, this is pretty typical - short turn-around tasks, one after another. He also said I could get all the overtime I want. So, like I said, I’m hoping I didn’t get in over my head…

I got home and started some laundry. Then I built a scalloped ham-potato-onion casserole (YUMMERRIFIC!!) and vacuumed all but the bedrooms. All told, I did 3 loads of wash, and after cleaning up from supper, I went to the grocery store. Just got back a little bit ago, and I’m pooped. I got some ground beef and cabbage - gonna make stuffed cabbage tomorrow for Wednesday’s supper. Tomorrow we’ll have weenies. Later I’ll have ice cream.

My daughter called. One of the counselors had to rush back to England for a family emergency. That left a cabin of 10 girls with only one counselor, so my daughter’s co-leader was moved to the other group, leaving my baby in charge of 6 - count 'em 6 - 13-y/o girls.   I’m sure she’ll do fine, but she’s not too thrilled.

So, thus ran my Monday.

I’m home but still working. (Or I should be.)

I did **not ** read MinDude’s TMI story.

Mork is lucky he didn’t get septic from doing what he did. Next time, go see a doctor! I’m watching you.

Dinner is done and we lit a fire in the chimera-thingy (no idea if that’s the right name). But the main log must have been damp still–I now reek of smoke. Ugh.
Anyway, we had s’mores for dessert. Nummers!

gotti I forgot to say earlier, glad your neighbor is home and I hope everything works out ok for him. Stay safe from the fires, too.

I am all relaxed and clean. I also have clean sheets on the bed so sleepy time will be good tonight. Oh and I took me a melatonin so in about thirty minutes I should be good and sleepified.

MOOOOOOM you can blame me but you’re the one who looks suspicious. Just sayin’… :stuck_out_tongue:

Ok, off to surf around for a bit then go beddy bye.

Nite Nite Y’all!

P.S. dotty was it me that got you typin’ all southern like?

Welcome to my life, Left Coast Edition, Gotti.

Well, four hours of broken sleep, followed by a very tired day, followed by Nat not falling asleep for an hour and a half of frantic crying, followed by fighting with Mr. Lissar about it. Sigh. We’ve made up- we always make up fast- but today has been brutal. I’m about to go to bed and hope Nat doesn’t wake up for three hours tonight.

How north? My sister lives in Arcata, but just went home today since she;s been visiting-- hope all is well with you and her…

ETA: Eek- I just look at your fire map and Humboldt county (where my sis lives) has fires… I’d better call her later.

Rigs - Um … just out of curiosity, how likely would I have been to get sepsis? I tried to keep it clean (antibacterial cleanser), used fresh bandages multiple times daily, drained it regularly… was that bad? Was I not supposed to do that? I know I should have gotten a topical antifungal treatment or saw a doctor and got some penicillin or something. I guess I like to live on the edge.

Pie - You were wise not to. Once you read it, you can’t unread it, and I’m fresh out of mental floss at the moment.

I’ve finally got the word part of my planner done and printed. My current planner I don’t like at all. Plus it ends in July. Rather than all over town for a new one that I kinda like, I decided to make my own. Now all I have to do is to cut all the pages out, find some chipboard and put it all together. Of course I have to decorate it up a bit.

Awww, sorry for unhappy Nat. Unhappy babies are stressful. I always wish they would just hurry up and tell me what’s wrong. Is he teething yet? Hope you get something resembling a good night’s sleep.

Stay safe from fires, gotti. Hope your sister is OK, too, Soapy.

I have been reading like a good girl. This is the most jargon-filled proposal I’ve ever read. Tomorrow, I’m going to search the PDF version to see how many times they used forms of the verb “to leverage.” Also, the document is poorly edited, which is distracting. Much of this document is “bla bla bla.”

I’m tired and going to bed now.

Hugs…

GT

I have a Pringle fragment stuck to my uvula.

Sorry about Nat, LiLi.

Mork, meh. I’ve had worse.

Heck of a burn, BBobbio. It puts my cardboard bonfire to shame.

Go, swampy, go!!

I know you can do it. You can out-TMI anyone!

But please spoiler it. I am NOT reading Mork’s TMI and I’ll thank everyone for not writing more about it, please. . . unless you spoiler it.

Mork. that was an enjoyable bit of TMI.

I am one of those sickos who will click on any thread marked TMI at any time, unless I’m on a work computer. I don’t want to explain some things to my boss, as cool as she is. (Hmm…I thought I had the TMI thread from a while back bookmarked, but I can’t find it. I’ll have to see if I can dig it out again, maybe in the morning.)

Fires=scary! Stay safe! The air here was noticeably hazy today; it turns out that we’re getting smoke blown in from California fires! Not a lot, but it was definitely there. The paper put up an article telling people not to worry, there’s no nearby fires. We’re all a bit nervous, I think, after last year. As much as I adored the firefighters, and not just in shallow ways, I don’t want them to have to come back again!

I hope Nat settles down and gets some good solid sleep. Poor guy. Poor you. It must be hard to be a baby sometimes, and no easier being a parent.

I had one of the best days I’ve had for awhile. I got a CD I’ve been dying to get a day early (it’s Great Big Sea) and also got a ticket for a concert they’re doing in Boise in October! So now I have to learn all the lyrics so I can be one of those crazy people who know all the words. Four months, can I stand the wait? Can MamaTigs stand me standing the wait?

yawn I think it’s getting to be bedtime. I do have to work tomorrow. Not early, but I do have to work.
