Yay, night crew!!!
Off to bed. Or one more Heinie mini barrel, I’m undecided…
Wheeeeeee!!!
First time evah, first on a page!!!
Totally accidental too.
So, I get that beer, right?

Treat yourself.
Hi everyone.
Hellloooooooooo : echo : : echo : : echo:
Hmmm, quiet today!
Anyway, I just stopped by to say that my boss is an idiot. That is all. Bye!
I’m here! I’m here!
My boss is an idiot too. Oh wait, that’s me.
My boss is tired but got up early to do paperwork because I was too tired to do it last night.
Later on today GilaMonster and I will be touring the local Ronald McDonald House. They invited us down because we’re going to start donating food for their dinner ever 6 weeks. [/brag]
Ok, off to work.
morning all, up and caffeinating - but a bit late this morning. Yay for CutiePie and the Ronald McDonald House! Good on you, CP!
Dotty, sorry tha t your boss is an idiot; good luck with the job interview, btw!
Hugs and good thoughts to all in need; that’s all I got with this little caffeine.
Do you want we should whap your boss upside the head, Dotty? We have a wet trout (or is that a dead trout?) reserved just for that.
Hey, Pie! Good on you for dinners at Ronald McDonald house!
It’s back to reading bla bla bla this morning while waiting for the nice people to arrive to do gutters. How fun!
GT
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. I’m even all dressed and purtified for work cause in a few minutes I’m leavin’ to go meet ol’ y’all know who for brekkies. Apparently an IHOP fix is needed. Looks like we won’t have a spend the night night. Sigh. He’s trainin’ some new staff (nurses) this week and it’s gonna be looooooooooooong days for him, poor thing! Like he said though, with a long weekend comin’ up next week, he’d rather it be this week cause some folks are takin’ vacation time next week. Still, that means I don’t get to see him much. Pity me!
CutiePie good for you for donatin’ meals to Ronald McDonald House!
Everybody else, yays, boos, hugs, stay safes, good luck, congrats, wet trout slaps as needed.
Later Y’all!
Much better night.
Morning, everyone.
It’s a seriously wicked thunderstorm that gets me to stir in the middle of the night. The one we had overnight had me wide awake and upright…
Even worse, Loki decidedhe had to go out in the middle of it. I opened the the door for him, and he did his best Boxer “No frakkin’ way, Dad” look at me and ran the other way.
Now, I require food and caffeine.

GT, I think a wet trout (or even a wet, dead trout - eewwwww, smelly!!!) would be just the ticket. However, after a morning of unwarranted bureaucratic nonsense, my Pakistani-British friend in the next office is convinced that a more brutal approach is necessary and is fantasizing about ripping our <sarcastic> good ole boss </sarcastic> a new one with an AK-47 he plans to borrow off some friends from the Northwest frontier of Pakistan!!!
Yayyyy Cutie for the Ronald McDonald House thingie! Hubby was supposed to stay at the RMH in Brisbane (Australia) when HRH was in hospital with her brain bleed, but he didn’t want to leave either of us, so he slept on a recliner chair in the room, while I had the day bed next to HRH’s hospital cot (we had to sweet-talk lots of nurses to make it happen though, 'cause hospital policy is only one parent is allowed to stay in the room).
LiLi, glad you (and therefore Nat) had a better night. Sleep is a wonderful thing!!!
VBob, worst storm I remember here was back in about November 2001, I think. I woke up at 3 in the morning wondering who was throwing buckets of water at my window (particularly as I was living in a 5th floor apartment). The rain was coming down sideways and lots of it! The next morning, there were trees uprooted all over the place and I had to walk through 6 inches of water to get to my car! Not bad for a desert island!
ETA: Forgot to add that I am shoving an IV caffeine drip through the CD drive to rosie!
Morning. More work. blergh.
Glad the night went better, LiLi.
I’m sort of starting about thinking about (sort of) maybe a trip to a sleep psychologist. A friend of my mother’s recommended one. Naty’s still usually only sleeping a couple of hours at a time, and bedtime is still quite often horrible. And eventually I would like to sleep for five whole hours at a time. Plus, it can’t be good for him to wake up that much.
The problem is that it would be pricey.
The other alternative is starting a thread here for suggestions. :D. A lot cheaper, but less professional advice.
Thinking non-fire thoughts towards California.
Good morning!
Not much to say. I hope everyone has a better day than yesterday!
OK, so the new job is a little… errrr… disorganized. So far, I’ve gotten about 5 minutes of my manager’s time, so I’m still not quite sure what I’m actually supposed to do around here (besides look pretty and provide sparkling witty commentary, which are my usual contributions to any team). Hopefully someone will come along shortly with a task for me - I’m a little bored.
Then again, maybe I can just spend all day napping under my desk. Last night’s party involved WAAAAY too many apple martinis and I’m slightly hung over - let me tell you, telecom folks sure know how to throw a badass party when they put their minds to it.
LiLi, hope Nat finally figures out this whole sleeping through the night stuff, hopefully very very soon.
Mindy, I assume you already heard that someone leaked the rough draft of the iPhone plans for Rogers to Howard Forums, yes? The conclusion around the smoker’s area is that a) it’s probably legit and b) someone’s ass is getting fired without severance in the next few weeks, as soon as corporate figures out whose ass that is. (Disclaimer: Those are my opinions, not those of Rogers Communications Inc or its subsidiaries)
gt, I am jealous of your pleasant roofing experience. We’re having a hell of a time even getting roofers to call us back and quote us prices - at this point, I’d be ecstatic to get a call back… they’re welcome to drop tar all over my garden, if they like, so long as they get me a new roof in the process.
gotti, sending lots of non-flammable thoughts your way. That’s scary stuff.
Marnin’. I was a bad Spaz yesterday in both eating (pizza party for lunch, Ham’s appetizers for dinner) and spending (dinner and MST3K: The Movie on DVD). In my defense, the DVD is a recent re-release: I have MST3K:TM on video (with no working VCR), and the DVD used to be over $100. If you could find it anywhere. The one that’s sitting on my coffee table now was only $15 plus tax.
The Goddess of the English Department, She Who Unofficially Runs the Place, is leaving for greener pastures. The department is holding a farewell lunch for her at Pricey New Restaurant. I send my best wishes but none of my money. Apple for lunch for me plus walking a Zeldadog this afternoon. Must make up for yesterday’s badness.
Morning, all. Blergh indeed. The Idiots woke me up numerous times starting at Just Barely Dawn, and are on my List.
Good on yer for helping out the RMH, Pie. I’m on a mailing list for folks that have or have a child with similar types of dwarfism to snowbunny’s, all quite rare types, and a lot of them have some serious medical issues (we were VERY lucky with snowbunny, medically we got off incredibly lightly compared to some of these families) and have to take regular advantage of the RMH wherever they may be going. It’s a wonderful charity indeed, so thank you for doing your part!
Good luck with the interview, Dotty! I hope you (a) get the job and (b) find it to be better than your current new job. It’s amazing how difficult it is to find out what a job is really like until you’re actually in it, isn’t it? I’m sorry you’re having to move on so quickly, but here’s hoping that you can find a good place to settle down soon! But you might want to keep a clear distance from your Pakistani-Brit friend and his AK-47!
Good luck with the sleep issues with Nat, LiLi. Young Tiger was a rough sleeper, too; he didn’t sleep more than 4-5 hours straight until he was 9 months old. You have my sympathy. When I was just desperate for sleep, sometimes I’d give him a dose baby Tylenol, which did seem to help. But IANAD, and I hasten to add it was with my doctor’s approval; talk to yours before doing anything like that, obviously!
That’s a good question. Can I stand her standing the wait? Since I’ve been getting numerous sqeeing phone calls a day since she learned (Friday) that they’d just added Boise to the schedule, I’m not sure if I can survive for months of it. Fortunately, we’ll be seeing Great Big Sea in August (at Wolf Trap), so I’ll be able to annoy her with tales of how great the show was. For two months before she gets to see them. Revenge is best served cold and often.
Okay, back to work. I stayed up way too late last night trying to get to a certain stopping point in my current job – part of the board meeting of the folks, UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing), who run the organ transplantation organization in the US, always full interesting information – but didn’t quite make it, so I’ve got an even larger helping of work today. One thing I like about working on UNOS is that the reporter always includes swag in the package for me. In the past I’ve gotten lapel pins, keychains, stickers, etc. This time was the best – Reese’s peanut butter cups with “Donate Life” stickers on them. Nom nom! Guess what I had for dessert last night?
Morning!
Awake, at work, and caffeinating. (I use “awake” in the strictest clinical sense.) Need extra caffeine today, I think. Y’ever have one of those nights where you got just enough sleep that whatever energy you had remaining from the day before has evaporated, and didn’t get quite enough sleep to generate new stuff? It’s kinda like that. No residual energy from yesterday that I can run on, and not much new energy, so I’m running on fumes. Anyone got any spare motivation?
VBob - We got hit pretty bad the last day or two. Well, Toronto proper, anyway, some severe weather and localized flooding in parts of the city. Worse, further up north they got a solid pelting with a large volume of hail big enough to be called “chunky.” Fortunately the bulk of it just skirted everywhere I was, giving us some growly thunder and lightening but not a whole lot of rain. There’s more on the way though.
SnowBunny - I don’t like TMI. But I will still read it, because I’m drawn to it like a car accident on the highway or a train wreck. I just have to see how bad it is, and the worse it is the harder it is for me to look away. (To a degree, anyway. There is a point at which it simply becomes entirely too much to deal with. Like a very detailed description of Hillary Clinton naked.)
Manha[sup]2[/sup] - Yeah, I covered the leak and added my own two cents worth of spec. It sounds pretty legit – but at the same time too good to be true. Logically, my brain is saying, “That’s the sweet spot Rogers needs to hit if they want to ‘drive adoption’ like they’ve been saying they want to.” Then the emotional side of me says, “This is Ted Rogers, and he still wants you to bow to him backwards.” There are equal whispers on both sides of the camp, though there’s a certain amount of allegedly corroborating evidence to support the “legit” camp. I suspect we’ll find out the truth before the end of the month, probably this week sometime.
Oh yes, thank you for the reminder, Mork – I need to email myself a bunch of links I’d saved to old threads that are on the old 'puter. Including the TMI thread. And Hal+sheep. And the zit thread. And the telemarketer thread. And a whole bunch of other Oldies but Greaties.
Note to Self: Do not let Papa Tigs cannibalize old 'puter until you get those last few things off it!
I checked with Mom and she confirms that His Royal Littlebrotherness, current Prince of Half’n’hou’mo’, slept like shit during his whole first year. It doesn’t seem to have caused permanent damage. Being used to two previous kids who slept like bricks so long as they’d been fed, this drove my parents nuts. What does the pediatrician say?
The Nephew slept in two-hour stretches for at least the first nine months.
