An Inaugural 2021 MMP

You all are typing up a storm. Haven’t been doing much else except work, walk and eat.

Watched the Alton Brown Quarantine Quitchen episode on YouTube about frozen pizza, so pizza will be called for, but probably on Tuesday. The place we really like doesn’t deliver here, and I heard of another decent place, but they also only do take away, so I’ll try them. A place that expanded to a third location during the past year should be good, right?

Flyboy, glad the wife is home.

Swampy I printed out the recipe for the Cheese Thangs. Probably have to order crispy rice cereal because the stores around here only have the chocolate version. Then I can use half with marshmallows and half for Cheese Thangs. We can get most of the Kellogg cereals here, about half of the General Mills line, but no Post cereals.

And I just looked and there is a store brand, which is in a bag, not a box. So maybe my store has the store brand. Have to look. They also have Honey Balls Cereal in their lineup. Might have to get some of those too. Snerk.

Due to Brexit screwing up a lot of people, I can’t get my normal fix of specialty British cheeses, and my friend who runs the shop, is going to be out of cheese soon. So many months of preparation and the UK is still surprised that things change when you leave the EU.

And we’re in Switzerland, which has its own financial agreement with the EU. I feel sorry for all the small UK businesses which did a lot of trade outside of the UK, voted to Remain, and are now having to deal with the fallout.

Have to make inroads on the paperwork, including signing up for us to get shots. Probably won’t happen until May, but if don’t sign up, it definitely won’t happen.

Happy Saturday everyone!

Morning, mumpers! We had a dusting of snow overnight but not enough to even cover the ground properly. Now it’s sunny and crispy out there - I know 'cos I ventured out to empty the recycling box into the recycling bin. Today the weather app says “Hey look. That one cloud has fucking resting asshole face” and promises me 1C/34F up to 3C/38F and partly cloudy. I dispute that since I’m sitting here looking a clear blue skies

Happy birthday, Moooom! hope you have a good day, whatever you’re doing to celebrate.

SCAdian my favourite singer is Danny Vaughn, I’ve been a fan for more than 30 years through various bands and his amazing solo career. Love the music, and he is a really lovely person to talk to. He’s had a very varied career and some of us just look forward to seeing something new with his name on it.

Dicey it would appear that a lot of the UK is similarly surprised that trade with the EU is suddenly so much more difficult, and those who voted to leave still don’t understand why the EU didn’t just cave in and give them everything they wanted (despite the fact that they had most of it already). I suppose it is finally getting through their thick skulls that the EU really did not need us as much as they thought. Once we get rid of our ridiculously incompetent government, hopefully the next one will start the process of petitioning the EU to have us back!

flyboy glad to hear Mrs LA is home, I hope she gets lots of rest and lets you look after her for a while.

nellie glad to hear you are getting out for some soothing walking. Sometimes just being outside in fresh air and hearing sounds of nature around you can be more soothing than you realise. Good for you!

Since I had a day off yesterday, my chores are done and I have a weekend to myself. What to do? I might bake some sweet potato brownies, might do some writing, will definitely be doing some exercise and some reading, but other than that, I am happy to have no plans. 'im indoors is still being a slugabed so I don’t want to put the stereo on for my workout until he’s awake as it’s good music and I like to turn it up

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 42 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 63 and N.O.S. for the day. No plans at all for the day. Sloths we shall be! Any need to feed today will be via forage. We have plenty of stuff for sammiches and have chips 'n stuff, so starvation will not happen.

Since I can’t sing real loud up in here anymore I shall do the best I can…

HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY DEEEAAARRR MMMOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!

nellie glad you got out and enjoyed your walk.

Die the sto’ brand cereal works as well as the name brand. I used the :open_mouth:Wally*World :open_mouth: brand in the ones I made on Thursday.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Thanks, BooFae! - The big plan involves ironing and then hanging the newly-acquired living room curtains. PARTY ON!

Thanks for the song swampy, but I feel slighted - you omitted your usual crack about our age difference! :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, today is the big 67. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: If I knew I was going to live this long, I’d have taken better care of myself! snerk I don’t typically do anything to celebrate, tho we normally would go out to eat. Alas, that’s not a safe option of late - especially with the more contagious variant of the plague present in our state. Maybe next year…

As I said, curtains are the plan for the day, as well as finally hanging the prints on the wall in the living room. Then all we’ll need are the long-lost recliners to make the room complete. I’m also going to make another loaf of craisin bread. So, a normal, boring day.

Happy Saturday!!

Went to bed stupid early, and - with some awake time in the middle of the night, of course - woke up two whole minutes before my alarm.

So at least I can’t say I didn’t get enough sleep!

Yesterday was cold and so naturally I had to forget my insulated lidded mug at home - no hot tea for me at irk yesterday. Sad purple!
The damn thing is right next to my purse, so at least I’ll have that today.

Hopefully, we got all the local crabby-pants yesterday and today won’t be so irksome. HA! Saturday is always a busy day - I better get crackin’ on washing up & getting dressed.

All y’all be safe, stay sane, and have as good a day as possible.

Morning all. Soccer starts about 10am and goes to around 5pm, so that should wear me out some. Slept until 7:30am, so should be more or less conscious for the day.

shoe, retail will always have the as…troublesome customers, since it attracts all types and forms; hopefully today’s will be of the more pleasant variety.

Mooooooooommm, have a Happy Birthday!!!

OK, that’s about for this morning, need to clean up a little bit and head out to the gym for soccer stuff. All y’all take care.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I shall clean the fridge, and perhaps under it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOOOOOMMMMMM!
hAVE FUN LOAFING AROUND

Nah, he’s just take your CDs.

Hi everyone, I just got home from having the first jab that will hopefully make me immune to the plague. The had taken over a small warehouse and after being marshalled into a parking space, I gave details to a clipboard and sat (well spaced out)to wait my turn. I understand that the marshals were all volunteers and they all seemed pretty cheerful out in the chilly sunshine. There were at least 20 of them.

The deed was done in a small gazebo and it took only a few minutes for the ritual questions and cautions before I was duly jabbed and sent out to wait for 15 minutes to be sure I didn’t collapse.

Tesco was selling big tins of Quality Street cheap yesterday, so I took one with me for the helpers to share. They were pretty surprised, but I am sure they appreciated it.

gotti, the day glo vest was a smart move for your volunteer gig. When I’ve worked with a food bank, it was never in distribution to the clients, it was always in packaging in the warehouse. You’re a good one to volunteer.

I’m glad MrsLA is home flyboy! May she recuperate quickly.

Happy birthday Mooooooooooom!

Date guy came down from the mountain and up to my place yesterday. We enjoyed each other’s company and takeout from the Lao-Thai place.

Today, I’m up, breakfasted, caffeinating, a load of towels and sheets in the wash (ready for the dryer now) and fixing to get sheveled to go to the grocery store for supplies.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

We both got up at eight o’clock (17 minutes ago). She took an oxycodone first thing. She wants to stay ahead of the pain. She’s looking forward to a shower today.

She had tom kha vegetable soup (no stars) and I had yum nua (Thai beef salad, three stars). I also got tom kha gai (five stars) for today, because I can’t not get it. She didn’t eat all of her vegetables, so I put them into my container.

So far today, I’ve ironed and hung curtains in this room and in the living room, I vacuumed this room, the living room, and the dining room, FCD and I installed a new curtain rod for the living room curtains, and we rotated the area rug in the dining room. He took Higgs to the groomer, and I’ll pick her up when she’s done. And we had our leftover Chinese for lunch.

I also ordered another pair of curtains that will become a valance in the living room, and I’m thinking about running to Food Lion for a few things.

Oh, yeah, and I set up FCD’s new credit union account for on-line use and I linked it to our other CU account, which was no small task. But it’s all good now.

And that’s how we party on our birthday at FairyChatEstates!

As long as she ate her meat. Then she can have her pudding.

No meat in her soup. And I made butterscotch pudding the night before, and she had one yesterday afternoon.

We set a record yesterday for the food distribution event in my neighborhood yesterday. In one hour, we gave food to 263 families. :scream:

Happy Birthday, Mom!!!

Did Swampy send you some prints to hang up? I heard he has some interesting ‘interiors’.

I have to admit that I didn’t understand that at all and had to look it up. That’s was very nice of you.

How’s Mrs LA doing today Flyboy? Oops. That’ll teach me to try t keep up around here.

The little birds are eating the black sunflower seeds, but not as fast as the nyjer seeds, but we’re getting a lot of bigger birds now. I need to fix the pressure washer* or get another one. The birds ‘bathroom habits’ are leaving our deck a right mess.

*I may have left the high pressure nozzle in the valley is all. The 2 I have here are kinda anemic. I dunno.

Got an email from Safeway, where our usual pharmacy is, that they’re gonna be giving out vaccines as soon as the state gets some to them. Anyway, in a fit of optimism, I signed up to get notices from them as to their progress.

The guvner keeps going on the TV to 'splain why teachers are getting vaccinated ahead of seniors. Her ‘explanations’ remind me of a phrase one of my old friends used to use: “Don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining.”

Also, the feds sent us our stimulus money, but they put both monies on one card with my name on it. Wifey thinks we’ll both have to go into the credit union to get it put into our bill-paying checking account. I dunno, but we’ll get it worked out. We’re in much better shape that a whole lot of people out there. So far.

Be careful out there, y’all.

Good morning, everyone, and a VERY Happy Birthday to Mooooom. I hope y8ou have a wonderful day, FCM, and that you get a cupcake with a sparkler on it. That was the height of birthday glamor when I was a kid.

I made my list but haven’t decided where I’m going to walk today. It’s hard to find quiet routes in an urban area. A silver lining to wearing sunglasses and masks is that they hide emotions.

Bumba, I’ve read about the vaccine controversy down there. What a shame that your governor’s pickle of a plan pitted two groups against each other. The fallout–in senior lives lost, in the resentful opposition to school funding and to teachers in general–will hurt so many people beyond those two big groups. Bitterness and division, just what we don’t need right now.

flyboy, glad to see Mrs. LA is taking nourishment.

BooFae, when is the soonest you can get BoJo the Clown out of there? He’s got an unemployed chump–I mean, chum–here who needs a playmate.

Happy Birthday MMOOOOMM

Preferably in a time share on the beach far from either country. I hear St. Petersburg is a bargain this time of year.

With mine, the letter was addressed just to me, but the card has both DH’s and my names on it. We do file jointly, I’m usually the one who fills out the return.

I baked craisin bread, tweaking the recipe a bit, and it’s definitely better than the last time. I used Sprite Zero instead of water, brown sugar instead of white, and extra cinnamon. Very much yum!

Supper was a salad. We talked about going to Red Robin so I could get my free b-day burger, but I didn’t feel like going out, so we’ll do that for lunch tomorrow. The rest of tonight is for chillage.

Thanks for all the b-day wishes, here and on FB! I’m feelin’ da lurve!!! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
