An Inaugural 2021 MMP

She called about 50 minutes ago. She’s still sore, but much better than last night. Apparently, she can eat whatever she wants. She asked for breakfast. She still wants to go to the casino steak house tonight. :face_with_raised_eyebrow: She thinks they’ll let her go around 10:00. I’m betting it will be closer to 13:00. She has to wait for the doctor to come in His Own Good Time and give her his blessing.

Ordinarily, I’d agree with you, but now, hospitals are keen to get rid of patients as quickly as possible.

flyboy, hope she gets released as soon as feasible. And I bet once she gets home, going out to dinner might be a step to far… But a good thing they kept her, if that little rascally appendix busted before they got it out. Better now than later…

gotti, here’s another hoping the grant comes through.

talky, review might not be as bad as you think, your bosses know what a difficult year 2020 was and…what am I saying, they’re bosses, so of course it’s all your fault… Hang in there.

swampy, congrats on being the first MMPers (as far as I can remember) to be De-COVID’ed…

Spud (gotta have some nickname for Taters), had that happen to my fence last year about this time, not the neighbor’s problem just a poor quality job by the folks who put mine up. New side is much better shape than the rest of the fence is. And what kind of dog is Polar? Might make a difference on the type of companion you get.

Nellie, hope it works out with neighbor, If they do quiet down some, maybe cookies or something to take the sting out of it? (don’t know, home living for 25 years in a quiet neighborhood has spoiled my apartment living skills).

Nettie, good news on the anti-goldbrick campaign…wouldn’t be surprised to see some of them quit, now that they have to work for a living… And be nice to the neighbors, give them a chance to really tick you off…

Slept fairly well except for a dream where I was surrounded by lions at night and held them off with a old flash camera and hob-nailed boots, but fast has been broken and all is well.
All y’all have a good Firday now.

Not to be confused with the Doper named Spud.

MetalMouse, cookies were my first inclination, only with COVID lurking about and so many people having food restrictions, I’m thinking maybe a small potted plant might be wiser. I’ll wait a few days to make sure the change sticks. The note I left was very cordial and ended with “Welcome to the building!” and a smiley face, plus I was very friendly when he came up, but he seemed a little flurried, and I don’t want upset neighbors.

swampy, glad you got the first cooties shot.

flyboy, painkillers and lying in bed make people feel better than they are. Maybe you could approximate the steakhouse steak? She really will be able to eat what she wants, though she might not want as much as she thinks.

gotti, my fingers are crossed.

BooFae, thank you. That brightened my morning.

We’ve got an appointment at the credit in about half an hour. Afterwards, we’ll head to Lowe’s to pick up the new curtain rod to hang the new curtains (tomorrow’s chore.)

Then I need to figure out supper. Maybe we’ll just order in Chinese??

Thanks for the positive thoughts, ratty. At least I know where I stand with my boss - she’s quick and direct with the feedback anytime she has concerns or is impressed. It’s been a pretty terrible year all 'round, so I’m sure she’ll get that. And even if it’s not a fabulous review, she’s good at delivering bad news!

After reading the comments on cookies and Chinese, I find myself in dire need of each - maybe chocolate chip cookies and crab rangoon. I’m so hungry I’m starting to drool a bit. I guess the baked kale for lunch didn’t go as far as I’d hoped, even though it was surprisingly tasty.

ETA: I just realized that nelliebly was making a comment about cooties. I do NOT want to eat those. Unless they have chocolate chips.

And she’s home.

:confetti_ball::clap:t3::tada::clap:t3::confetti_ball::clap:t3::tada::clap:t3::confetti_ball::clap:t3::tada::clap:t3::confetti_ball::clap:t3::tada::clap:t3:

I didn’t know you spoke Chinese.

{{{{{all y’all}}}}}

If you don’t need/want them now, I’m sure you will eventually.

There’s a lot you don’t know about me. I’m a Woman of MysteryTM

Hot Pot Chinese will be delivering supper… soon, I hope. They usually send an email with an ETA that’s usually way longer than the actual delivery. So we shall see.

Meanwhile, we got everything taken care of at the Credit Union and we picked up the curtain rod. Tomorrow, I’ll iron and hang curtains, among other things. Tonight, I shall chill.

Mrs. L.A. had been complaining of acid reflux (heartburn) for weeks. I told her she needed to go to a doctor and have it checked out. She declined. It occurred to her today that the ‘acid reflux’ and accompanying loss of appetite were symptoms of appendicitis.

Howdy Y’all! Been a dreary, rainy day in south Jawja. Good to be inside and dry. It was rainy when I went to get shot, but not nearly as rainy as it got after I got back to da cave, so there’s that. Sup has been et and chillage ensues.

Flyboy yay for Mrs. L.A. bein’ sprung and at home!

Nettie good news about the goldbrickers. Now maybe they will do their job, or quit. Hopefully do their job.

MetalMouse actually I am half De-COVID-ed. On February 19th I shall be fully De-COVID-ed.

Nellie glad the talk with the neighbor went well. A plant would be a nice gesture. Maybe not an African stranglin’ vine though. Morticia Addams would disagree.

Lots of bitchy, entitled customers today. Like, WAY more than the usual quota. You’d think a buncha potheads buying weed would be all chill and stuff, but nooooo Karen still gotta be a $%^&.

I guess assholes shit on retail workers no matter what the details.

But now I’m home, and Monkey is purring in my lap. Baby ratties are frantically "week! weeeek!"ing behind me in the mudroom.
I have my evening joint (“Orange Kush Mints” for those following along at home) and a bowl of chicken soup from Tim Horton. I’ve never gotten non-breakfast food from them before.

A round of Plants vs Zombies, then chillage in front of Netflix.

Under-promise and over-deliver. Far better than the alternative.

It’s looking like this morning’s gloom and drizzle has gone away. It’s now crisp bright sunny skies - good weather to give food to people. So that’s exactly what I’m gonna do! I’m all suited up in day-glo yellow/green so those crazy drivers don’t run me over in slow-motion while they’re distracted by thoughts of sacks of potatoes, carrots, and apples being put into their trunk.

Would be an interesting court case to see them try to explain how they didn’t see a BIG guy in a BRIGHT GREEN safety vest on a sunny day. :scream:

I think I’d rather have Lancashire hotpot.

Breakfast was a sausage & egg biscuit, lunch was a banana, and supper will be an omelette with ham, chicke, and cheese. Then I plan to spend the rest of the day reading. A novel (Bronze Summer, by Stephen Baxter). All the political goings-on lately have been very distracting – I’ve read more political stuff in the last month than I did in the previous several years.

S.p.a. day at work today. And I’m off this weekend, so Friday is my Friday for once. I’m celebrating with an Old Fashioned, and doing laundry.

Yay!

One thing I don’t miss. 100 degree building>hag bitching about something that is beyond my control/an actual felony to comply with her demands.

That’s nothing. My oranges speak Mandarin.

I walked for over 3 hours today. It’s very soothing. Thoughts wander in and out between exchanges with passers-by. It wears me out and keeps the painful thoughts to a trickle. I’m short (5’2 and change), so I’m sure I don’t cover as many miles as the average person, but I figure between 7 and 8 miles.

OK, here’s proof my sense of humor is returning. I stopped to try to read a vertical sign at a bank. Despite my vision issues, I slowly figured out what it said: Common Cement Bank. What a strange bank name! I mean, why be common? Why cement? It wasn’t until much later I realized I’d mistaken one letter and that there was no space. I had to chuckle at myself.

flyboy, I bet you’re right. My appendicitis pain was right smack over my belly button and never did move to the right. That appendix sure packs a wallop of pain for such a tiny thing. How’s she feeling now? What did you end up doing for dinner?

MetalMouse, I got a chuckle out of your plant suggestion. They’d probably give me a Little Shop of Horrors Venus flytrap. If I stop posting, you’ll know I was lunch.

And at barely 5’2’’ not very much lunch at that!
