An Inaugural 2021 MMP

The small soft end of the pea pod. One snaps it off to shell the peas. I don’t know how it became customary to cook some of them with the peas. Perhaps it comes from Reconstruction when some people didn’t have enough food, perhaps it is waste at the canning facility, and “It’s not a bug, it’s a feature!”

Howdy Y’all! Cleanin’ lady came and spent about three hours spiffin’ da cave. She did a good job and we stayed out of her way. I do believe I am goin’ to be happy with her cleanin’ instead of us. Mind you we will dust and vacuum between visits as well as wipe down/sanitize the kitchen and bathrooms, but no where near as thorough as what she does. Bumba I wore sweatpants, sweatshirt, and my slippers. Sorry to disappoint. :stuck_out_tongue:

Flytrap described snaps ans as Herald said, I can’t eat 'em because I cannot have peas, i.e. legumes until after my colonoscopy.

MetalMouse have no fear. I shall be able to chow down as soon as I want after the colonoscopy. Matter of fact, I envision that I will sup upon majik intartoobz pizza and sallit that evenin’. Maybe that will make up for the fact that I will not be able to single handedly corner the gold market on Wednesday.

Go ahead and save yourself the trouble of calling the doc and eat grapefruit to your heart’s content. It’s only while actually taking certain (not all) BP meds that you have to avoid grapefruit so as to not obviate their desired effect on your BP.

A pharmacist would tell you the same thing and they are LOTS easier to get an answer from IME if you want to confirm this.

And I’m gonna answer your BP question, but I’m still feeling shiftless and it is a long answer and I am a two-fingered clumsy slow error prone typist. PM the range of your BPs if you feel like, might speed things from my end.

Enjoy some grapefruit for me. I lurvs it too and once in a while eat it in spite of my statin. Man-O-man do I enjoy forbidden fruit. Or fruit. Or forbidden. Any of them actually.

i live …im ok except for nagging stomach cramps and I feel like I have heartburn all the time but I’m almost done taking the medicine , mother nature couldn’t kill me this time …

That’s what we’ve been feeding them. But the little beggers can go through a big bag in a few days. We read that they liked the black sunflower seeds too, and they’re cheaper, so we thought we’d try that. If they won’t eat them we’ll go back to nyjer seeds.

People who say that haven’t paid attention to the statistics. .380 is real close to the effectiveness of 9mm. It depends on shot placement. That’s why I practice.

Glad to see you’re okay Shadey. Hang in there.

Chaptico Deli delivered supper - fried chicken, N.O.T. wedges, slaw, and beans. We’s all stuffded, and very little is left over. Daughter, et. al. will be heading home soon, and quiet will reign again.

Howdy Y’all! We have supped and all is well. Tomorrow I begin the liquid diet. Le Sigh. I made myself some Jell-O to eat. I am not fond of the stuff. I shall suffer through, however. < Pause of Woe and Despair> My wunnerful next door neighbor called me to tell me the trash truck was up the road from us. I went out and hauled the biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can all the way down the road just in time for pickup. Stoopid website for Lee County says no pickup today. I imagine there will be many upset folk along my road, who, like me, took their word for it and did not put their trash out today.

Shades glad you are on the mend.

WetOne bein’ as I have the memory of a gnat, I can’t remember when your cataract surgery is, but I know it’s soon. Hope all goes well!

I have a pharmacy story. Also, a doc story. I am not happy with either right now. Seems the doc called in a prescription for sump’n called ondanestron and the pharmacy said there’s a problem with my insurance and fillin’ the ‘script and they were goin’ to call the doc (gastroenterologist) about it all. I called the doc and found out this is a medication for nausea in case I needed it when I drink out the cleanout stuff tomorrow. Also, my insurance said there would be no problem with the ‘script and them. I have done this before sans barfin’, so I don’t see the need for it at all. I told both the pharmacy and the doc I do not want the anti-barf (yes, I said that) stuff. I suppose both the doc and the pharmacy decided I needed a dose of aggravation today.

That stuff is Zofran (easier to spell). It might help if the clean-out stuff is slightly different than the last variety and you need it to keep from bfg up the rest of all that liquid that you need to keep down so the very expensive scope can be successfully done (i.e. you’re empty and clear, cleaned out). So a 10 dose prescription for ~$8 (Good Rx near me) to be more sure a several thousand dollar procedure can come off successfully. Seems reasonably CYA (yeah, I know. Shameless of me).

But not reasonable is a insurance company spending $30 of it’s time agreeing with a doctor’s office about it, costing that office some $10 of it’s staff’s time. Or vice versa. Just pay $8 for the damn Zofran and let swampy have it but not need it. Sheesh.

Hey, FCMoooomm~sent you a long BP PM. Respond at your leisure (which I know you rarely have)

My fiend posted a link to the first film I worked on, Mutilation Maniacs (1981). I linked it in the Ernie Fosselius thread in Café Society.

shoe, at least your trash got picked up. Our trash service has been shorthanded because of the plague and didn’t pick up last week. The dumpsters are overflowing.

Welcome back flytrap!

herald, the green bean version is snaps and shellies.

It’s good to see that you are improving shady.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson and et. Nelson chose this afternoon to eviscerate Sonic, his toy hedge hog . I’ve quit counting how many of these I’ve replaced since his first one, but it is one of his favorite toys. Good thing I ordered one that should be here tomorrow.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Ah, the runner-up at Cannes that year…

Did get the shopping and the Jersey Mike’s run done. Nappage this afternoon led to sleepage (anything over an hour with me move from nappage to sleepage and I was out about 2 hours). Dinner was by the King and is being assimilated.

shady, good to hear from you, keep doing better.

swampy, have fun on the starvation and cleansing day. Just remember, it’s for a good cause. And going to have to look into a cleaning service…one of these days…

wet one, sorry about the noise, hopefully they will be finished today. And best wishes for making the cataracts go away.

OK, back to internettin’ and readin’. All y’all take care.

Humor-it is a difficult concept. : )

I do hope you got video if they showed up.

Two of my meds tell me to avoid grapefruit. My GP said it’s okay if I consume small amounts and don’t do it often.

If you lose any weight, will you be Slim Shady (yeah, the real Slim Shady)?

In all seriousness, glad to see you couldn’t be killed off.

I frequent a couple of gun forums where the ‘caliber wars’ are a recurring theme. It loses it’s charm after awhile.

Well, Hell.
You shoot a guy with a .380, a .32 or a 9 mm, it annoys him.
Shoot a guy with a .45, it blows his arm off.

We now return you to the MMP.

I had a nice walk this evening, thanks to AcornTV. Shortly, I shall mosey back to bed. It’s been a day. Laundry tomorrow. Rah.

BBBoo, got your message and replied. Thanks tons!! I learned some stuff.

And so to sleep, perchance to dream…

Cross posting from the “What’s For Dinner” thread over in Cafe Society, cuz I’z taaaaahhred and can’t manage more. But I’m eating better (or at least more frequently) so  yay me:

Worked till close tonight, so I’m too pooped for what I wanna have (black beans refried in fresh bacon grease, with a pork chop) so that will keep till tomorrow.

Tonight had to be lower effort. A chicken cordon bleu baked in the oven, and I grabbed mozzarella sticks and a small side salad to go with it.

Fried cheese is normally accompanied by ketchup, but tonight for some reason I decided hoisin sauce was the right way to go.

No regrets.

Read this sentence first and got deja vu. Then I saw the bit about cross posting. It’s not me.

Just went an measured my pie plate - it’s all of 1.25" tall. The ones I had before (or are hidden away somewhere) were probably closer to 2" tall, but I found them a bit annoying because the edges were scalloped.

When I first moved here someone was looking to play a piece of music and it called for banging on a pie pan. He asked me what that was. Pie is not a common thing here. There’s tortes and cakes, but not too much of pie, especially nothing like pumpkin pie or pecan pie.

Having the plumber come today. Both toilet seats are falling apart, after only 3 years. With the current restrictions, it’s easier to call the plumber, who can order the specific ones and then install it, than trying to figure it out. The brand is anyway not available at the local equivalent of a box store and has to be special ordered.

The bathroom renovation was done by some other company, and I didn’t think to specify I wanted our local plumber doing the work. I wish I had, but oh well. They have all our other business.

Have to call the bank to get the special access code. Not the best weekend to figure out that expired, due to the 3 day weekend in the U.S.

Anyway. Time to go to work. Got a meeting to go to.

Have a good Tuesday, Jancember 50th 2020 2.0.
