An Unlabored MMP

That’s what I don’t miss about Dollar Tree. It’s not I get a mad rush for Zocor at the holidays(Prilosec and anti-psychotics, maybe  ).

They make reusable furnace filters? I’m out of the loop, living as I do in a Stately Manor with no central heating. Baseboard heaters, baby! That’s how I raise my power bill astronomically in the winter!

Yeah but you do avoid all the dust and gunk from forced air. And the allergies and breathing issues that come with them. I would be willing to make the <cough> trade if I <sniffle> could.

The part what gets us is that the tests aren’t really totally fair tests. Right now its just us employees dedicated (in a manner of speaking) to the company and work. Come December half of the people working there will be temp agency finds – many of whom don’t make it through the first shift; most of whom don’t make the second week. Our mileage may not be nearly the same at that point. But judging from what the AM shift experienced Tuesday -------- it will be an experience. Somewhat fun in the end but with a certain level of stress.

104 Amurkin today. 107 predicted tomorrow. Just bleah!

I survived irk. I think we are down 6 now, from a department of 13. This has been stressing me out tremendously. Today I had the revelation that it’s Not My Problem. It’s deck chairs on the Titanic, and the band is playing. I’m good with that. Dance people, dance! I’m much happier today. I can’t save anything and it’s out of my control.

And now I’m off to referee bed time between the [del]combatants[/del] children.

I still has a blurf…is it the blurf apocalypse?

I went to the pub last night with friends, I excelled myself and had a whole four pints of water! It was a late night, and I am tired today which is a bad thing because I have to attend one of the exam boards today and then sort out all the decisions and whatnot afterwards.

Luckily Friday is not far away and the weekend is creeping ever closer.

Onwards and upwards!

At the risk of cursing things, I actually slept all the way thru till 4:30 this AM!! I’m feeling almost rested! Huzzah!

We had a real toad-soaker last night - thunder and lightning and downpouring rain. Unfortunately, the cold front hasn’t come thru yet because this morning it’s still stupid humid and warm out there. We’re promised more rain today, and it’s supposed to get nice and cool tonight and stay on the cooler side from here on out (fingers crossed.) Leaves are already starting to fall, so I’m hoping it’s finally creeping into autumn.

No plans for today - **FCD **has taken my signed offer letter to drop off at lunch today. Due to the weather, I won’t be doing any outside work. I will push the vacuum around - Ziva has left numerous clumps of hair around the living room and dining room. Probably the bedroom also, but gray hair on pewter carpet doesn’t show too well. I’ll probably attempt to suck up the Higgs hairs from the bathrooms - she seems to like shedding in there. I’ve already emptied the dishwasher, so there’s been a bit of productivity already. Go me!

Last night I ordered some cardigans for work - one black, one brown, and one gray. I tend to get cold in most offices, and I really don’t want to take my mega-ratty sweater to this job. I ordered these from Penney’s and I’ll pick them up at the store when they arrive some time next week. I should probably get a couple more pairs of pants, but I think I’m good on tops - I bought several for my last cruise and none were worn more than a couple of times.

I should get a haircut, too. I hate getting haircuts - I have yet to find a stylist who can read my mind and give me the perfect cut. How hard is it to pull off “Layered, low maintenance, bangs to my eyebrows”? If I ever got a cut I really liked, I’d take pics and show them every time. Stupid hair.

Oh well - Happy Thursday! Send Chocolate!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 88 for the day with rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon and evenin’. We shall see.

Not much goin’ on this mornin’. Just irk. 'Tis a day in the orifice to catch up on paperirk. Rah.

OK, I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence.

Happy Thursday y’all!

Happy Thorsday!

My weather app disappeared off my phone so I have no idea what’s happening today. It’s dark and cool outside.

Today is just another day, nothing special but I can’t believe it’s Thorsday already. It seems like it was just Moonday. We may do a grocery run today, or tomorrow, don’t know yet.

I’ll order disposable filters today, Sah-son said that is what he wanted as well and since it’ll be his job to replace them and y’all say they are a pain to deal with, disposable it is. One day when he moves out I’m going to have all his jobs come down on me. I’ll deal.

I had a job offer with some administrative details that I didn’t like at all (it boils down to being a false internal employee* in another country; meanwhile, if I close down my company I lose a bunch of benefits), but hey, by the principle of “whomever says ‘come’ first, there I go” I’d verbally accepted it.

More than ten days later they still hadn’t sent the written offer; by that time I already had hooks from half a dozen other places; there had been processes that had been opened and closed in the intervening time. I contacted them to say “hey guys since I haven’t received the offer yet and I have other irons in the fire I’m out”, they insisted in finally sending the offer, etc. I’ve sent the third email saying “forget it, I’m not coming” and this time the agent has finally understood it. Now he’s mad at me, oh well.

Anything has to be better than the amount of paperwork that situation would have meant… :stuck_out_tongue:

  • I would legally be an employee of an umbrella company; pay SS in Holland as employee (and in Spain as self-employed, see “benefits”), have to do income taxes paperwork in both (even if I hadn’t already had income in Spain for the first three quarters, I’d have to file the paperwork saying “hey guys, I’m paying in Holland”)… and in the end well, it’s as much a “project-length contract” as any where I’m actually hired as my company and don’t have to jump through flaming hoops.

I also has a blurf. It’s supposed to be rainy and a lot cooler, with more seasonal temperatures. This will be very nice because I hate summer and can’t wait until fall officially starts, but I still has a blurf because it’s raining.

Ah, the promotion. I still have no start date because my supervisor, who has to release me, and the HR person, who has to process the transfer paperirk, are both on vacation this week. My supervisor will be thrilled that I’m not leaving the building and my new supervisor is thrilled that I actually know stuff and won’t be starting from scratch. So far, I’ve turned down an interview with a different agency and told the two people I interviewed with last week that I’m no longer interested in those positions.

My shoulder still hurts and if it still hurts on Monday, I’ll make a doctor’s appointment. The sprog goes to the orthodontist and I’ll see if my doctor can slot me in to take a look.

Up, caffeinated. Gonna go watch practice before work. And it’s only 9 days till College Hockey starts.

Nava, that’s sounds more painfully complicated than filling out a 1040 form.

Mooommm, it stormed here last night. My apartment windows are fogged up now.

I’m enjoying reading about all the people here starting new jobs, taking new jobs, or considering new jobs. Me, it’s 346 days to retirement (but then, whose counting…), but all y’all have got me thinking about what I am going to work at once I am retired. Strange notion, I grant you, but I do not want to sit around the house all day (well, maybe for a couple of months…). Need to think about this.

Otherwise, like many others we got a lot of rain and the cool may finally move into stay, suppossed to be a high of 72F by Saturday. May even refereee three youth soccer games if it gets that nice.

**MetalMouse **- before this job came up, I was looking around at volunteer opportunities, amazed that I never heard back from any of them. Or further amazed that some required “dues” or “membership” before you could volunteer. Even our local, for-profit hospital expects volunteers to pony up some cash! And I still can’t believe I didn’t hear back from the Vet’s home - their website said they need volunteers, but no one responded to my inquiry.

**FCD **used his brief retirement to work in his shop doing miscellaneous projects. He only went back to work when he realized that our meager retirement income wouldn’t pay for the toys he wanted, so he’ll work at least 1 more year.

I did a lot of crafty stuff and did some work in my yard, but overall, I was mostly bored. Plus we couldn’t afford to do the traveling I wanted to do. So I’ll be setting aside a chunk of my income against future travels. We want to explore the PNW, and apart from the cost of the trip, we have 2 cats that’ll need looking after, and that can get pricey…

Anyway, if you’ve got hobbies or belong to a club/organization or have better luck than I did with volunteering, you should survive retirement.

Its raining and I should be blurfing but I’ve got things packed to go do some shooting before getting ready for work. At an actual range and all; not the “look for me on the local news” kind. A chance to get out and burn some powder always chases away the blurfs for me. We’re getting cooler weather for a while so breaking out some of the long sleeved stuff last weeks doesn’t look as silly as it did last week in the 90s.

I have enough saved, I can live comfortably for the rest of my life when I retire.*

Musket or artillery?

*Assuming I’m eaten by wolves on the way to the car after my last day.

I’m sure **flytrap **would gladly arrange that for you.

rainy humid blurf. goin’ back to bed soon

There are more wolves in Pennsylvania than Ar-kansas.
I am told that it is due to the corn.

Finally - I’m showered and dressed. It’s so dreary and overcast, it’s tough to get in gear. I don’t want to do anything.

One really good thing about all of yesterday’s rain - the drippin’s from the septic pumper’s hoses that remained on my lawn after then stowed the hose sections have been properly diluted. It was just a tad ripe near where the truck was parked.

So, now what? Vacuuming? hmmmmm…

All righty then.

Vacuuming done.

Cheater cheesecake made - judge away, I used a Jello no-bake mix and jazzed it up with caramel sauce and pecan bits - it will be YUM!! And the perfect end to a supper of Hamburger Helper!

I think it’s time to crochet in front of Netflix…
