Our storms were mainly on my commute home yesterday. It was a regular frog strangler and it seemed that a white Nissan Armada (about twice the size of my twuck) was determined to have me make a mess in my pants for ~6 miles.
All of my department got new desktops today. It shot the hell out of about two hours, what with the tech installing them and setting up printers, displays, email sigs and what all on my and one of my cow-orker’s rig. I might get something accomplished this afternoon.
Boring day here. Not much going on. It’s been raining off and on and it’s nice and cool outside.
The dog seemed to be perking up but now he doesn’t look so good again. When he walks away from treats I know he’s not feeling well.
I’m looking at replacing the basement stairs WHOA! $1000 - $2000! The last time I had basement stairs replaced - the ones I fell through - it was something like $300. Maybe $500? Since the stringers were in good shape they could be used as a template for the new stairs saving me some money there.
I wish my ex BIL would still take some side jobs. I know he does a good job and won’t rip me off. It sucks not having home repair connections anymore.
Get a fire pole to slide down, since you’d use the stairs to go up only they should cost half as much. Plus, fire pole!
I was driving on the expressway when the deluge happened. There was a big twuck coming the other way that went thru a big puddle. I knew this because I saw a wall of water come over the divider. I knew two things: I wouldn’t be able to see squat when it landed on my windshield & that I was about to drive thru a puddle that might only be under one side of the car.
Solution: a little brake, a lot of gripping the wheel, & a medium amount of prayer. That combo works!
For the record, Hamburger Helper Philly Cheesesteak is really, really mediocre. It’s not bad, just bland, even with extra onion. But, to quote my classy spousal unit, it’ll make a turd.
Cheater cheesecake later.
The sun is out - I think we might get a wee bit more rain tonight, but the cold front hasn’t moved thru yet, dammit.
Howdy Y’all! Irk has been survived and dindin et. Dindin was fried chikin, peas, N.O.T. sallit, and rolls purchased from the Pubic sto’. While I was there I got some shrimpies steamed for tomorrow’s dindin of sallit and steamed shrimpies.
It’s been dreary and rainy off and on all day. Tomorrow may or may not be the same. Sattidy looks like it will be stormy. I was hopin’ for cee-mint pond time Sattidy. Alas.
That’s the news from swampland. Stay tuned for further developments.
Could have sworn I posted a while ago but I guess not.
Howdy! Home from irk. The countdown is on for my TAD to Texas. I have a list of things to still do tomorrow to be able to be away from irk for a week. I leave Moanday and will be home on Firday. I don’t expect to have any free time to explore Texas as these trainings usually are all day until evening. It is all my counterparts from the Southeast Region so I have at least met all these folks. I guess I will take my laptop to continue working on my evaluations if I find myself with any free time.
I whomped up a cake for this weekend. I had the cake in the oven and was choppin’ up a bell pepper. OYKW asked me if the cake and bell pepper had anything in common. Have I mentioned before that he’s almost as smart assed as I am? I said yes, the frostin’ is butter pee-kahn cream cheese bell pepper.
It is WAY too hot around here, and I’m on the recovery side of some bug. Had to blow off class Tuesday and call out yesterday. Made it to work today (albeit with lots of sneezing and coughing), currently killing time before class.
I was wondering just how nasty a cake with bell pepper frosting would be.
Strike that. I was not wondering. I KNOW that a cake made with a bell pepper anywhere in the house is nasty. Did I ever mention that bell peppers are Satan’s own creation?
Weather here is also nasty. I’ve got an app called Honest Weather. Right now, it’s saying
Actually something quite odd for me; cartridge. Without meaning to, I seem to have accumulated more 8mms and 30-40 Krags than I can really justify owning - and this isn’t even considering the .38 specials at this point. I’m trying to shoot a few more seriously to decide which I want to keep and which I may want to pass along to others. Today was a nice K98 in full military and a “Mitchell’s” carbine edition. I like carbines but the Mitchell’s isn’t bobbing my cork yet. It may just be one of the weaker links.
I would debate that possibly. The odd wild wolf will pop up now and then but they are really rare and most are suspect escapees from game farms/idiots who think they can become pets. Now coyotes are another story - those we got within a few miles of downtown Pittsburgh. It does mean the stray cat population is falling however.
I worked. It monsooned. The steam coming off the road was being illuminated by a car coming up a hill. It was pretty cool, like something out of Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, or really good recreation pharmaceuticals.
