There’s a thread for gifts you received. What did you get (or do) for yourself?
About 4 pairs of various style slippers for warmth. Days go by without me putting on shoes.
A mirofleece red plaid long nightgown and two pairs of pajamas (noticing a theme here?). Carmax is the required brand. Texas roommates 50 years ago at college introduced to the wonders of Carmex. I’ve never looked back.
3 micro fleece sweatshirts to have 3 decent tops to wear in rotation to for my weekly in-my-tiny-bubble visits across town to my granddaughter’s.
6 lip balms of my favorite and fun limited edition flavors. I lose and launder a lot of lip balms.
One pair of Christmas socks and one festive non-ugly Christmas shirt for my Christmas Boxing Day+1 day visit with my daughter, dear SIL and granddaughter.
I have no expectations of being given gifts (not in the new family traditions) and I’m a little kid at heart so I surprised myself.
A bottle of mid-range brandy for magic eggnogs and hot apple ciders.
Heh! I went online to Amazon and searched “Toy Orrery,” and found a cute little toy thingie with gears and planets. Ordered it, hasn’t arrived yet. Just a knick-knack, a toy, kinda pretty, it will collect dust alongside all my other tchotchkes… (Which is such a wonderful word! It perfectly describes my “Addams Family” sense of decor!)
The folks whose virtual marathons/hikes/bike rides I’ve been doing since COVID are offering a reasonable promotion, so since I’m finishing the “Appalachian Trail” soon, I went ahead and signed up for my next set with the discount. I like their finisher’s bling; for example:
I paid off my VISA card, been working on that all year. This year’s year end bonus, and a government Covid relief payment helped me finish it off.
I got myself an electric kettle that holds water at a precise temperature. It bugs my husband that i often let the kettle on the stove boil over. This one won’t ever do that. (I’ll set it to between 180F and 200F depending on what sort of tea I’m making.)
A new furnace, air conditioning, and a tankless water heater. All three were on our list as “should be done soon”, but our furnace went out about a week ago and it was cheaper to get all three done at the same time.
I made myself some escargot the other night to go with a nice steak.
Both a plague doctor and a plague nurse plush from squishable.com.
A gnome shower curtain.
I want them, but I don’t want more clutter. So I’m not buying them. They are CUTE!
Got myself a Crock-Pot Express multi-cooker and Black&Decker Dustbuster. I’m cooking a lot more at home, and expect to be doing so in the future, even when we go back to the office, as we will have 40-60% home office (to be defined). And since we are home more, there is a lot more of the small messes that call for a hand vacuum.
Also Bison Grass Vodka and Woodford Reserve Rye Whiskey. Need to have something not practical.
Two new toilets. The former toilets were rust and calcium build up encrusted. I managed to chunk some off with a screwdriver but scratched the heck out of the bowls. So new terlets for me.
Oh, the username + post!
They are sitting proudly with my Covid-19 plush and my Dr. Fauci bobble head. Because, sadly, I am a clutter kind of person. Souvenir shops smile when they see me.
I didn’t get myself anything.
I bought myself a treadmill - I guess that kinda counts as a gift for me.
Hoot, mon, that’s punishment, not reward! (Grin! Happy treading!)
It beats slogging thru the neighborhood in the wet and cold, or dealing with heat and humidity and bugs in the summer - I can get my miles in while streaming any number of programs! I don’t run, but I walk at a brisk pace for an hour. My doctor is pleased anyway.
That’s great, congrats!
I’ve been revolving a large debt amongst gulp ahem 4 cc’s. Have 3 remaining with balances of which one will be paid off next month. Yay!
But bought myself a new phone for xmas, sorely needed as my iPhone 6 is about to get kicked to the curb by apple.
I bought myself a new cardigan when I realized my usual one was beyond repair…then I went hog wild and grabbed up a bath mat as well. YOLO!
I bought myself:
Ring3 security camera
The camera mount for it (called Doorbell Boa)
2nd rechargable pack for the camera
Echo Dot 4
Echo Show 5 (so I can view the camera if I don’t want to view it on my iMac).
