Another sleepless MMP

Happy Sunday!

It’s a clear 57 degrees, supposed to get up to 66.

I woke up at 1am and was still up past 4am, so I feel a bit blurfy.

Been down the shore with the kids this weekend. Got the boat prepped and hit the water yesterday; very early by our standards. First day of rockfishing season, very busy out on Tangier Sound.

Spent Friday on a special tour of the University of Maryland. Even though the kids are years away from going to college I wanted to show them it was something to be excited about, not to fear it.

It worked out great, both have a strong interest in their future school lives and the fears of the unknown have been dramatically reduced.

“He got it stuck in his rectum?”
“Rectum? Damn near killed 'em!”
:stuck_out_tongue:

The Conatser brothers were fond of that joke. They ranged from College Freshman to Junior in high school.

“Ain’t us going to the library?”
“I reckon so.”
:dubious:

In Orange Park, FL, there was a seafood place we liked and we often had the same table. They also sold paintings by local artists, and next to our usual table, was a seascape entitled “Gental Surf” - guess where the i went. We don’t write on bathroom stall walls, but this was too easy…

Back from breakfast with a side trip to Lowe’s for some petunias and a couple of geraniums - all pink! They’re all planted in the 3 big pots on the back porch. The smallest of the pots looks to have 2 banana trees growing - one is barely poking out, but I bet when it gets warmer, it’ll show its face! And the pot on the far left has lots of viney stuff growing in it - I think it was seeded from things I planted last year. I’m going to transplant some of the pieces when they get bigger and try to train them up on the rail around the clothesline deck.

The ditches have been mowed - I wish we had a self-propelled mower. When this one dies, that’s what we’re getting. That or a lawn service to do the hills and the ditches. I can drive around the yard - that’s the easy part. But the hills and ditches are hard on the ankles and knees.

All I need to do the rest of the day is unpack and assemble my new carpet cleaner, pack up the old one to deliver to my sister, and empty the dishwasher. If I get really motivated, I’ll hitch up Higgs to her leash and take a stroll. We shall see…

Yard work and house work and general adulthood. But come Thursday its off to the Valley and from there to

wait for it

KNOEBELS!!!

Ride the wildest coaster for me, ruble.

I’ll have Herself do that for you; I’ll do Black Diamond a few times.

And probably the Bumper Cars 40 or more times. Each day. For two days.

It’s not officially summer until I start bleeding out my ears or acquire a serious limp.

(us and some friends during a charity event a few years back)

Hahahaha!

Grocery shopping has been done. And this morning my dad and I got some more gas for the barbecue.

Just back from an organizational meeting/coffee klatch. I have been volunteered to teach four papercraft classes in the upcoming year, among other things. But I did dodge being nominated to more than two committees.

Ride a wild coaster for me too, ruble!

OK, now Bissel is on The List! I went to assemble my shiny new carpet cleaner, and there’s no owner’s manual. I can download one, if I want to print 40 pages! I don’t think so. I went to their website and asked them to send me one. I did download the 2-page “Quick Start Guide” with the assembly instructions, and even that was inadequate. There was one piece left - the holder for the deep-cleaning attachment. We couldn’t figure out where it went till **FCD **turned it over and saw the slots under the handle that were only visible from below.

It’s all put together now and parked in the hall closet. The old carpet cleaner is in the box from the new one, complete with its attachments. I’ll be giving it to my youngest sister - the one with the 3 dogs. She definitely needs it! Meanwhile, the oldie is living in the garage.

I also gave **FCD **a hair cut. Actually, one step short of a head shave. I use the #1 guide on the clippers and take it all off. So he doesn’t look like a hippie any more. After all, his hair was almost 3/8" long!!!

It’s clouding over - rain is definitely on the way. Thus endeth the weekend. Except for supper. Dunno what I’m going to make, but I’ve got time to decide.

Rain coming soon but the yard us done and general puttering is all that’s left. Sunday may continue.

A veritable hippy pinko commie!
:dubious:

Dreary and rainy, but the hockey’s been good so far. time to start my meatballs for my meatballs with sketti and sauce.

It’s raining here also - a pretty steady shower, and quite chilly. They’re promising us some storming tomorrow - rah!

My broken night of sleep is catching up with me - I’s tahred!! This just might be a night with Mel.

I had a very nice afternoon out with friends; we played board games and laughed and talked about bad movies. I’m glad I went out. I need to do that more.

Got done everything I wanted and got ahead a little. Not a bad way to brace for a short week of work and a long weekend of fun. One of those evenings where life is good and the beer cold.

I finished going through the photos this afternoon, then began the process of going through Mom’s recipe box. It’s like an archeological dig.

I has a rainy Moanday flavored blurf.
