Afternoon all. I see why people get ‘hooked’ on Amazon or some of the other services, I am binge watching “The Grand Tour” which features three English gents (used to be on Top Gear) driving cars and talking about them…doesn’t sound exciting but I’ve been a fan for years and finally have the chance to catch up, and for free. Going to be hard to cancel it when it starts costing money…
Have to get moderately presentable here in a bit, ordered my evening meal from Red Robin (yum) and we’ll see if they do as good a job as Texas Roadhouse did.
Midget, I hope your friend does well, I suspect all of us are going to know somebody (not counting the MMP family) who is either exposed or catches the damn stuff. Be well.
Nellie, sorry to hear about Sis’s hubby. And kids will kid–let’s hope they don’t give an encore performance tomorrow, or that the cops have been alerted to drop by…
Sari, I feel for Adam and Lily needs a little more behavior training IMHO…she earned a bloody nose.
Nut, unfortunately the Chinese authorities take a dim view of anybody messing with the wall…they will sell you tons of souvenirs, of course. Besides, the Terra-cotta warriors in X’ian are even better (but still too big to bring home).
OK, need to finish this and either watch another episode of Grand Tour or clean my kitchen…
I scored a 12 ounce USDA Prime 30 day dry aged ribeye at the meat counter today! for the ladies (who do not care for the taste of dry aged beef) I picked up two 8 ounce Prime fillets and an 8 ounce Prime New York strip. The steaks were pricey, but we have all been struggling for the last month and need an amazing dinner tomorrow Too bad it is too early for sweet corn.
Metal mouse, I joined Amazon Prime after doing the math on the free shipping vs the cost of annual membership. A few months later I got an email asking why I was not taking advantage of the rest that Prime has to offer. I am still way ahead with the free shipping.
Midget I’m so sorry about your friend. I hope he comes through this ok.
Nellie My best wishes to your sister, and a lack of suffering to your BiL.
Hippy good find!
Sari I think Adam will be fine. Mine are (unfortunately) chased by my dogs on the regular, but they never seem to hold it against me. I sympathize about the house. I’ve been sorting through things too. Now I’ve got big boxes full, and piles of clothes and books and I have no idea what to do with them. Put them in storage until someone will take donations again? I really, really, really don’t want them in my house any more. I feel like a hoarder.
Moommm you should ask the doctors whether you all need to be quarantined too. Since you haven’t been separated, I think the answer will be yes. No more Food Lion until you get the ok!
Someone asked how we were all getting to doctors’ appointments. I don’t know about everyone, but I had my last back procedure the day before all elective procedures were cancelled. Interactions since then have been phone calls, video conferencing or emails.
I think I’m in a funk. I slept almost all day yesterday. Today that’s all I want to do too. I’m managing to cook and do a little on the house every day. Otherwise, bluck.
{{{Emily}}} I hope that your friend is on the mend soon.
ace, your supper sounds yum! One of the things I make a point to get whenever I go back up to Indiana is a breaded tenderloin. After twenty five years in Tennessee, I still miss them.
{{{Nellie and family}}}
sunny, right now, I have a backseat full of donations from my cleaning binge to drop off whenever this thing is over. The bag of clothes in the entryway can be put into the dropbox at the Citgo down the street.
Laundry is done, the studio is beginning to look halfway cleaned up and we’ve walked along the greenway. Before we took our walk, Nelson got to play for a while with the neighbor dogs. I made a batch of herbed tomato soup for supper and had it, some toasted rye flatbread, swiss cheese and some applesauce that I put in the freezer last fall. Yum!
Howdy Y’all! So, this mornin’ it was rainy, so I decided no yahd irk and got all showered and sweet smellin’. Then around ten the sun came out and it was pretty much N.O.S. the rest of the day. :dubious: However, since I had already cleanded myself up, I did not do yahd irk. Yahd is still not the worst in the 'hood so it’s all still good.
{{{Midget}}} so sorry about your friend. Hope he recovers. Prayers ascend.
{{{Nellie}}} so sorry about your BIL. Prayers ascend for him, your sis, you, and the family.
MetalMouse I was gonna ask how you got that past customs.
Ace your sup sounds nummy!
Hippy yay on the steak find! May the feast be the nummiest of nummy!
So, I watched Compline tonight. It was the one I recorded. I feel like I want to apologize to my co-Parishoners for makin’ 'em suffer through that hick who lead virtual Compline tonight.
It turned into a moderately nice day. One of the neighbors put out a hammock
in the trees, It concerned Gordie. Also, one of my hockey friends has COVID-19, and is in hospital.
Reminds me of The Waterless Waterfryer.(appropriate because they are re showing the game where the Zamboni Driver beat the Maple Leafs.:D)
{{{{nellie}}}}
: Laughs in Manchu :
And if you like Science Fiction, watch The Expanse
Sari, Adam will be fine. And Alex Catt is technically my roommate’s cat, but she loves me instead of her, so cats are weird like that.
{{{Midget}}} I’m sending more best wishes & healing thoughts for your friend’s recovery.
{{{FCM}}} I’m hoping FCD stays healthy.
I met a co-worker downtown this morning because he was buying a couple of Kopek’s shooting things, then went through the McDonald’s drive-through for a two-for-$4.00 McBreakfast sandwich before a stop at Aldi, where I scored some Reese’s PB Eggs. It was really cold and there were snow flurries but I was so excited to be out and about, and I have a second sausage McMuffin for breakfast tomorrow!
Then, to add to the excitement of the day, I switched out the cat’s litterbox and scrubbed out the used one (while she supervised, of course).
Other than that, I ordered a couple of things from The Jungle, put a few things away around here, did yet more of my never-ending paperwork and wrote a couple of thank-you notes, ate up some leftovers for dinner, and identified some furry things in the fridge that need to be tossed come trash night. I have a list of things I want to work on tomorrow - we’ll see how far I get.
I forgot to mention something my mother pointed out to me today.
It’s April 18th, the 245th anniversary of Paul Revere’s ride.
My mother is a fan of the poetry of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. She’s the only person I know who can recite the whole of his poem, about the ride, from memory. And that is one long poem. I can get about a third of the way through, but that’s it.
I’ve been cooped up too long. Now, I’m eating weird snacks. I popped a pan of popcorn and sprinkled it with hot sauce and am washing it down with some Bullit rye and seltzer.
Leftover fajitas (and margaritas) for dinner. I put the rest of the raw meat into a marinade of cumin, oregano, salt, onion powder, pepper, garlic, olive oil, and lime juice. Don’t know when I’ll cook it, but I suppose I can freeze it for later.
Tomorrow night will be wild salmon seasoned with salt and dill, lemon-dill Béchamel sauce, and asparagus.
I don’t know about the rye. But instead of salt I’ve often sprinkled a few splashes of hot sauce into the melted butter I top the popcorn with. I’d probably drink beer though.
