April Showers bring a soggy MMP

{{sick friends}} I’ve actually had a few friends who have already had It, though none that got seriously ill, luckily; a former housemate who’s a student nurse and one, possibly two other friends. One was just sick at home and feeling crappy for a bit, the other did go to hospital, because she could suddenly barely stand without falling over and her oxygen level had plummeted; she tested negative, but the doctor thought they might have had a dodgy batch of tests, because a whole lot of people were showing typical symptoms but testing negative. She’s fine now, a few weeks later. The guy whose land my beehive’s on’s daughter, also a nurse, apparently got badly ill, despite being only 24 with no health conditions, though she’s recovered fine.

Anyway, I should stop thinking about such things, get on with getting up, and go shower and things. Happy Sunday all!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 76 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse expected some this mornin’ and continuin’ into tomorrow. Looks like MetalMouse is sendin’ it this way. TWPTB say it could get nasty. We shall see. The big plan of the day is to deheathenate virtually via the Diocese at ten a.m. and to make a good Sunday N.O.L. Ima put a hunk o’ beast in the slow cooker along with some N.O.T., carrots, parsnips, and onion. Peas ‘n butterbeans with okra shall be the other vegetative matter. I shall make cornbread and a chawklit sheet cake with chawklit icin’ cause, well, cake! Add in possible hunkerin’ down due to storms and that should fill up the day.

**{{{doggio}}} hope your friend recovers soonest. So far, none of my family or friends have been affected. Well, as far as I know. I would think someone would reach out if that were the case.

So, we’re all becomin’ bread bakers, chefs, and alcoholics durin’ quarantine I take it?

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

My forays into bread-making involve tossing the ingredients into the bread machine and hitting the start button. And I don’t even do that very often because when we have it, that’s all we eat, and none in this household should be eating that much bread. OK, maybe SIL can still get away with it, but the rest of us need to behave better.

It was THIRTY-THREE-FREEKIN’-DEGREES when I let Higgs out this morning. That’s sooooooo wrong! I just fired up the pellet stove again to take the chill out of this end of the house. But the sun is up and it’s supposed to hit mid-60s later, and no rain till tomorrow, so I’ll take it.

Roxy’s last b-day present came last night, right before her bedtime, so she’ll get it today. My sister sent her an activity center/desk thing (I didn’t look too closely at the box.) Daughter assembled it and it’s sitting behind me under a blanket, waiting for Roxy to wake and “unwrap” it on video so my sister can see her reaction. That kid has enough toys and such to stock a good-sized day care center!

And we’ll not talk about all the clothes - between what I got her and what her other grandmother got her, holy crap!!! Tho, to be fair, she hardly had anything that would take her thru the summer, having grown so much! I hope she manages to stay in 3T till fall.

I have one bit of work outside that I’d like to get done today, when it’s warmer. It’ll involve getting the push mower started - that could be a challenge… or not. We shall see.

Onward! Happy Sunday!!

I sprinkle my all purpose barbecue rub on my popcorn. I make it with kosher salt, fresh cracked pepper, granulated onion, granulated garlic, ground ancho chili, cayenne pepper and smoked paprika.

We have a local talk show host who once asked his female producer what would be the sexiest thing said fist thing in the morning. she replied in s very sultry voice: “Good morning honey, I made you pancakes for breakfast.”

Since then he asks every celebrity he interviews to repeat that phrase. He has recordings from many movie and TV stars, musicians and politicians, and plays them periodically.

When Sunflower wakes up i will tell her just that. "Good morning my love, I’ve made you pancakes for breakfast.

I can’t keep snacks in the house, or they disappear much faster than they arrive. It’s been years since I’ve had cookies or chips in the house as regular snacks and I stopped buying french fries for cooking at home (still eat them when I eat out) 7-8 years ago. I’m still way overweight, but if I bought all those snacks…

Anyway, good morning, up early and decided to get the newspaper right in, it was just beginning to drizzle when I went out, it’s now raining steadily and tunder-boomers are due shortly. So swampy is getting some weather, but it’s not mine to send, I’ve got it too.

Nut, glad your friends are doing well. Watch your own health now.

hippy, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his pancakes for his friends” (might have been a bit garbled in the translation…)

Cupcakes, like most folks I know two lines of that poem, but in my defense I do remember reading it…once.

OW has snow flurries; doggio has a neighbor stringing a hammock; swampy and I are cowering under threats of tornadoes. In other words, it’s springtime in America.

And doggio, If I get the chance (and I will), I’ll try The Expanse. To be honest I don’t watch all that much TV anymore, but it has got good reviews and I do like SF.

Everyone have a good (and safe) Sunday.

:raises glass to doggio:

hippie, I like the sound of your BBQ rub. While I don’t grill out unless I’m camping (I live in an apartment and codes requires 20 feet between the building and a grill), but I can think of a number of things indoors (including the aforementioned popcorn) that it would be good on.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I may, if it doesn’t storm, get the bike out and get out of the house for a bit. If it rains, but not storm, I may pack Nelson up with a picnic lunch and go for a ride, stopping somewhere safe for a picnic.

Happy Sunday!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. It was a balmy 44 degrees Amurikin when I took Gordie out.

MMMMMM.

hippie, I have no pancakes. I might do French Toast, since I got fixin’s, and it is approved Apocalypse food.

It’s supposed to be hitting upper 80s here by the weekend. Ugh.

missred

The recipe is simple It is just equal parts of all ingredients except the cayenne. Mix the rest of it up and then add the cayenne to taste. I mix it using three tablespoons of everything and one tablespoon of cayenne, but you might like it hotter or milder. I call my rub Omaha Smoke. I use it as a table condiment and add it often. It is also really tasty on mac and cheese.

I just did some landscaping in front of the shop. Cozmo destroyed the garden I put in there last year, so I put a short border fence around it, added mulch, fed the surviving butterfly bushes, and seeded the lawn with microclover. I’m counting on him being too lazy to try to jump over the border - it’s almost as tall as he is.

That was an hour of fresh air and sunshine. I’m done for the day.

Daughter suggested sketties for supper. Sauce is thawing. It’ll be an easy meal. Yay.

Time to read.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated virtually, et a really good N.O.L., and achieved nappage. Great activities on a rainy, could be stormish, dreary Sunday. I have made the executive decision that the biiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can wait until tomorrow mornin’ to be hauled all the way down to the road for pickup. I base the decision on storms and the fact that last Moanday mornin’ I ended up pickin’ up trash cause the biiiiiiiiiiig trash can fell over durin’ the night due to storms. I ain’t real smart, but I ain’t real dumb either.

Happy Sunday! It’s partly sunny with huge, puffy white clouds. I’d love to go for a walk, but I’m too fatigued. Maybe tomorrow. Today I’ll enjoy the clouds through a window.

My brother-in-law has his eyes open more today. He’s still unable to respond to questions, so I’m not sure what that means. Docs say he’s definitely on his way out, but I’m assuming like so much else in life, it’s not a continuum.

hippie, loved the pancake story. I shall never see flapjacks in quite the same way again. Does anyone call them hotcakes? I once read that “flannel cakes” used to be another term for them, but it sounds awful, like something Lisa Douglas would have made Oliver. (Green Acres.)

doggio, yum, french toast!

Yikes. Amorous activities going on upstairs, and I can’t hum loud enough to drown them out, so must move. Former tenants weren’t so loud, and they were newlyweds. More later.

**nellie **- find some online porn and aim the speaker at the ceiling at high volume!

Supper was yum. Chillage shall now ensue. I’m beat.

What?!? There’s porn online? (Falls gracefully on to fainting couch)

[Looks up from fainting couch, sees that no one is watching, scurries off to the rest of the internet …]

[Scurries back into thread, sees that no one is looking yet, falls gracefully back onto fainting couch, blushing furiously …]

Evening all. The rain went away for most of the afternoon, but there was a long roll of thunder just now, so the evening storms seem to be closing in. The serious stuff looks to be South of me, nearer Birmingham and Mid-Georgia.

OW, when you get to the internet, look up rule 34…

Everybody have a good night and I’ll see you in the next MMP.

Howdy, y’all!

I made a field trip halfway to metal mouse’s this afternoon to purchase another manual die cutter for the studio. It’s one that I’ve been interested in for a while because I like the magnetic platform from that manufacturer. I got the equipment plus all of the plates, including the magnetic one for $20. If I had purchased it new, that combo would run ~$150. Everything was done safely, I venmoed the funds to the seller’s account, she put it into my trunk (where it is waiting for any possible cooties to die) and we both watched while Nelson played with her sweetheart of a GSD (the humans were socially distanced). Twas a good deal and I can’t wait until tomorrow to bring it in.

Supper tonight was Hungarian chicken and cabbage, with a nice cucumber salad on the side. It’s the first time I’ve made it, but it will go into the rotation.

[cracks up uncontrollably]

I think it’s time to mosey back to bed, since I woke stoopit early again this morning. Beauty sleep and all that…

Sure hope someone else starts us up tomorrow - I have no ideas.
