It’s spitting rain on and off and it got more chilly. I went to the post office to mail a package this morning, then to the grocery store. Aldi actually had TP on the shelves, as they’ve limited folks to 2 each. I hadn’t seen totally bare shelves at Publix because they put the limitations on early, but today, they had a good supply.
As a kid, rainy days usually meant playing board games and / or cards with my siblings, building stuff with legos or reading, all the while trying to duck Mom or Dad pulling you out for chores. As an adult, if I’m working and it isn’t a series of rainy days, I pay them very little mind. If it’s spring or fall rain seasons, I plan indoor things and take Nelson to Lowe’s or PetSmart for outings.
I had a bit of excitement this morning. The pups wanted to go outside at ~4am. (When you have an old schnauzer and he says he wants to go out, you take him out) As they were hoovering the front yard and I was watching from the front porch, a big buck jumped the fence from the east neighbor, thundered across the yard, almost running over the dogs, and jumped the opposite fence into west neighbors yard. He was at least a 3 pointer.
Today I’m hoping to get started on installing a light over the basement stairs. It’s dark in there! I think I have everything I need. We’ll see.
I’ve lived in Orygun, in the Willamette Valley*, for 50 years, so I’m okay with rain, mostly. Wifey, not so much, although she was born here. That’s why she was excited to find this little place in Central Orygun. Average rainfall here is about 12" a year. Right now it’s N.O.S. and ~50F.
*Q. Know what a Portlander says when they see somebody with an umbrella?
A. “Tourist”
Y’all have a good week, and remember to be anti-social.
Moommm are they willing to prescribe anything to help? I’m sorry he’s suffering.
I forgot to give everyone the weather forecast! This week we’re warming up (nooooo) to the low 80s, until Friday, when we drop down again to the upper 60s. Possible rain at that point. I know Summer is coming, but I’d like it to stay away as long as possible.
My sister’s family continues their progression through sickness. She and my nieces were sick following a trip to France in mid-Feb. They started getting sick at the end of the month, first the girls, then my sister had pneumonia by March 20th or so. Now my brother-in-law has been sick and coughing for 2 weeks. We’re all treating them as though they are contagious. Now that I think about it, they’ve been going to the stores, which makes me kinda mad. I’ll have to follow up on that.
**Sunny **- he’s taking something that helps him sleep, but the only thing that could touch the pain would be opioids, and he doesn’t want that. Until they get into his spine and clear the area around his nerve bundle, he’ll remain in pain. We’ve been thru this a few times already, and we know what’s going on. He’ll just have to bear it, which sucks.
I spent the first ten years of my life in Juneau, Alaska, which is in a part of Alaska that is classified as a temperate rainforest. A rainy day was called “today”, and you just went out and played in it.
The wifey has decided that Monday’s are the days we shovel out the big chunks. My part is cleaning the kitchen counters and vacuuming the wallow.
It was cold and sunny here today, which was a vast improvement over the 1-3 inches of snow the TV weather men were promising. I went to work as usual and the day was pretty uneventful. Rainy days when i was a kid were always spent curled up somewhere with a book. I was most happy when I could sit somewhere quietly and read, and that has not changed much for me.
hippy, here in the Nashville area, we’re a bit wet and chilly, but no serious damage (that was last month). I want a reboot on 2020 with upgraded virus and malware protection.
Well, dang. I posted here earlier. I guess it didn’t go through. Anyway, today’s big task was walking the 2.3 miles to the downtown post office to get a box from da jungle that was too big to fit in the mail lockers at the complex. I took my babushka cart and made it there and back OK. About 2 miles into the homebound trek, I got a text from da jungle saying my package had been delivered. I guess I delivered it to myself. Why, thank you, nellie!
Feeling cruddy again–too much sun. I tried to stick to the shade, but there just wasn’t that much.
Moooom, I’m so sorry to learn they postponed FCD’s surgery. I hope they don’t postpone it again. I know pain isn’t considered an emergency, but dang, it’s got to count somehow.
Howdy Y’all! I Zoomed with the Vestry (not a bad meetin’ at all) and then did Compline on line. I was the leader tonight. Weird seein’ myself on a recordin’ I made, but folks liked it, so there’s that.
I shall shortly be off to beddy bye. I has a doc’s appointment in the mornin’. Rah.
I really think all the earthquakes, tornadoes, plagues, pestilences (I’ve heard of locust swarms recently), etc., need to take numbers and wait their turns, not gang up on us all at once.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 58 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 84 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Today’s agenda includes laundry and for me a trip to the doc at eight thirty this mornin’. Life is a thrill a minute here at da cave! We shall sup upon Sunday leftovers again and that will be the end of that. OK, there’s some ham left, but 'twill be frozen for future purposes. Three days of the same thing is quite enough even for us who don’t mind leftovers.
Nettie I agree. We have had enough plague and pestilence for a while. It’s time for everything to settle down and behave!
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas, alack, bother of bothers, woe of woes, I must needs purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. How I do suffer!
Speaking of doctors, FCD’s appointment with his local doc was canceled today. Apparently, they had several COVID cases, so they’re closing down for the rest of the week to sanitize the place. But since his surgicals have been pushed out, it’s not a huge deal for him. I think all he needs is an EKG within 30 days, so he’s got time.
I think it’s supposed to be a sunny but chilly day. If so, I’ll go get our gas cans filled, then drive ol’ Johnny D along the outside of the yard. The weedy stuff is starting to get tall our there. And I need to drag the wagon out front and gather the branches that have fallen along the driveway. That should get me some fresh air today… before the next rain comes thru.
