Morning all. Drs. appointment in about 7 hours (usually I have a morning appointment, but I took what was available). Having a small meal now, will then clean up nicely for the Doc.
Just checked, no stimulus money yet. Not that I have any major need of it, just seeing how the gubmint does…
Only 38F this morning, getting to the mid-50’s this afternoon. No rain though.
Afternoon, mumpers! I managed to completely miss the fact that it was Monday yesterday…I am already losing what little plot I’ve got left!
I agree with nuts, being a Brit I am used to more rainy days than dry ones. I also dislike driving in the rain but since I no longer have to do the drive over to mum’s place, I rarely need to drive anywhere be it rain or shine. At the moment, once every 7-10 days to the supermarket is as much driving as I am required to do.
When I was a kid, a rainy day usually meant shutting myself in my room with a book or several. I had the smallest bedroom (being the last and youngest child) and I remember insisting that my dad helped me rearrange the layout of the room so that my bed was under the window. That meant I could sit on the bed (or the windowsill) and read a book, and still be able to watch the rain and stormy weather.
I was very lucky with my childhood home, we lived in what is effectively a river valley and our street was quite high up so I had a very good view right down to the river and then up to the towns on the other side. When we had a good thunderstorm, it was the best place to be as you could see for miles!
These days, I prefer to spend a rainy weekend day at home on the sofa with a cat and a cup of tea, preferably with a book or film. However, as it is hot and sunny, I have the cat and cup of tea but I’m upstairs in the “office” working on my management project. Ho hum.
It’s a chilly and cloudy day, 45 and supposed to get up to 52.
Jax came over for a play date this morning. His mom worries about being pulled over, but my understanding is that the police are not pulling people over to see where they are going. However, if one is in an accident or gets pulled over for some other reason, the police will ask where you are going.
Well, I’m going to get food… see that MickeyD’s up the road.
Also, when I mentioned to a friend that the person who made the decision that liquor is essential and dog parks aren’t obviousy doesn’t have dogs, she pointed out that liquor stores make money and dog parks cost money… so that explains that.
Later today we’ll head out to the pet store and get some dog food and replacement chipmunks for one of the dog’s toys. Although Jax chewed up the tree house the chipmunks live in, but it doesn’t much matter as my dogs never play with the tree part anyway.
We’ll stop at the grocery store while we are out there, as they and the pet store are in some kind of partnership and are right next to each other.
All we really need is bottled water and milk, but of course I’ll end up spending a bunch of money.
My stimulus check won’t come until the mid May I think. I’m getting a check mailed as the irs doesn’t have my banking info. I don’t know if I want the irs to have my banking info, although I am sure they can get it if they want to.
Party at FCM’s house!! What time should we all swing by?
Ohio has now announced that PA residents may not buy booze there, West Virginia did the same thing a week or so ago. PA is doing on-line sales but apparently their website is completely overwhelmed and inadequate. We had an on-line staff meeting at work this morning and some of my co-workers are quite frustrated by this. I have a half bottle of rye that I offered to sell to the highest bidder.
I cancelled my trip to London and York that was scheduled for end of August. Too much COVID unknown-ness. I know I’ll get a refund/voucher on the plane ticket. I asked if the house and apartment we booked if they could hold the deposits for next year’s trip cuz we are going in 2021.
Well, I’ll have the kids pick up our take-out order around 5…
I don’t get why neighboring states won’t allow booze purchases - don’t they want the tax revenue? Or are Pennsylvanians stripping the shelves and leaving nothing for the locals?
As a very very infrequent drinker, I don’t get the panic-purchases of alcohol, whether in this situation or, frankly, any other. It’s not like it’s chocolate, after all…
Hmmm … I wonder what the drive time from the 'burgh is …
I don’t get it either. According to today’s article, there is a “mind-boggling” flood of Pennsylvanians heading to Ohio and creating a health hazard. I guess we need to keep our cooties on this side of the state line.
Mention of chocolate reminds me that I need to look for clearance Easter candy the next time I go to the store - at least some Reese’s peanut butter eggs and maybe a few Peeps and jelly beans.
Maryland is still happy to sell booze to anybody, Maryland is always happy to take money no matter who it’s from.
I hear the liquor stores around have been very busy since PA closed their liquor stores.
Just finished gathering sticks out front and tossing them into the woods. Some of the branches were pretty big, but they were very dead and dry, so they broke easily. there are still smaller twigs to be raked up, but I think I’ve done enough for one day.
Miss Owl - according to Google map, it’s about 300 miles from the 'burgh to my little corner of heaven, so unless you’ve got a private jet or helo, you probably won’t make it. Ya snooze, ya lose!

Time to wake my son so we can get ready to go to the store.
Joy and Happiness there
