I have more time to sit in front of the computer, but when I’m on the Dope lately that time is wasted by time outs.

LOTS of timeouts today! I don’t know if it’s my imagination, but I think there are more of them on Sunday. Does someone forget to feed the hamsters on Sunday? Whose responsibility is that?? Hmmm??
Just today? Every day is an exercise in frustration.
It took me four tries to get to this thread, after time outs on others.
It is especially bad yesterday/Saturday and today. Please reboot the server or something!
It doesn’t seem equally bad to me every day, but I might be delusional.
No, it’s frustratingly inconsistent in variable cycles – some days relatively good with occasional slowdowns and timeouts, other days (like the past two) almost consistently unusable with only occasional windows of opportunity to read or post.
Just got 504 Gateway timeout the first time I tried to reply to this, then “Server: Server error” the second time. This has been the pattern for many months now.
It is equally bad to me every day, and while I may be delusional, I’m not delusional in that way.
Trying to edit a message seems particularly prone to making the board choke.
A lot of times when you edit a post and then get an error message, the edit has in fact gone through. Likewise if you post a new message and get an error, most of the time the post has gone through. Before I re-post, I usually open another window, go to user CP, and check my latest posts (sometimes THAT takes several tries), and sure enough, it’s there.
Very true, although editing a post seems to make the board choke after it’s been well-behaved up until then.
You are so right about that!
Is there a plan to extend the edit time window due to the timeouts? I remember one of the board staff said posters could contact the staff for editing past the window, but wouldn’t that just be adding a lot of work instead? Make the window longer, but not too exteme, of course.
Most of the threads wouldn’t open for me yesterday. Here’s hoping I have a better time with my attempts today.

I re upped, for two more years, just now, and deeply regret it.
The service is just crap. It times out so much I can’t even read a couple of threads without it happening, not even trying to post, JUST READ!
It times out constantly, at the slightest thing. You have to copy every post because it’s sure to time out before you can actually post. And then it takes ages to be able to reload. Or double posts! wTH?
I do not experience ANY problems on any other sites I visit. NONE. Only this place.
It’s not worth ANY money, and it’s def NOT worth the aggravations. No amount of complaining or begging has produced the slightest improvement. Not a single assurance that, ‘we’re working on it’, amounts to anything but lip service as far as I can tell. It’s all a tiny step forward and five steps back. Repeat. Repeat. Ugh!
I honestly don’t know how you sleep at night, charging people money for an unworkable board, that times out more than not.
I just noticed today that some forums or thread titles turn red when hovered, and some don’t, ramdomly. Usually, if they turn red, they will open OK, but if not, forget it, there will be a Timeout error.
I think the ones that turn read are the threads you have not previously opened.
