Are we planning summer vacation in the MMP?

Anyone notices impolite around here?

Yeah, that “look for work” thing is kinda important. I need to do so myself. I am in no danger of losing my current employment, but for the sake of what sanity I have left, I need something with a shorter commute. Better pay and working environment would be good too (as long as I’m managing 40 hrs/week, the pay cannot legally get worse).

Oh boy it’s raining cats and dogs. We need it desperately. I love rain.

We’re heading to FL in the spring (youngest son has a tourney in Orlando), so we’ll be obligated to throw some money to support the mouse as well…summer, we head to the family home on the OBX as we’ve done every year for the last 26? 27? years, people ask if we get bored, absolutely not, it’s our little slice of paradise, our boys grew up knowing that beach and to us and our whole family, it’s just where we all want to be, I always tell people I work my butt off all year just so I can park it on that beach and stare at the waves…we’ll stop by OC to get some Thrasher’s fries and so I can practice my long-lost Bawlmerese on Mrs. White

The late fall will find us using some free Southwest tickets to escape the impeding winter of upstate NY, just not sure where yet…it will involve a beach…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 54 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 77 and mostly cloudy for the day. A cool down is comin’ with highs goin’ back to the 60s and low 70s by Firday. Today is geezer day so I shall go to the Pubic Sto’ for provisions. I shall also go to the noon Lenten thing down to St. Paul’s. I will also make aig sallit and aig sallit sammiches for soup ‘n sammich over to the church house this evenin’. That sounds like enough stuff to keep me outta trouble today I reckon. Oh and the folks I shall pay lots o’ money to refurb da cave will be here around two. We shall start next week with the paintin’ of the bedrooms and move on from there. When all is said and done, there will be no more wallpaper, new floors, and both bathrooms will be redone along with new countertops in the kitchen. I can’t remember if I have mentioned all this before.

For now, I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants food. Then purtification shall commence bein’ as I must be about the public. Looks like a day of bein’ in adult clothes all day as well.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

I promise this is not directed at you, but your comment reminded me of one of my favorite lines from Stephen Wright: A friend of mine has a trophy wife, but apparently, it wasn’t first place.

Now that that’s out of my system - good morning! Instead of Mel, I went to bed with Al - specifically a Kahlua and cream with Amaretto, or a Toasted Almond. I was asleep before 9, but I did wake at least once, and I woke finally about 4:45. Not perfect, but better than Moanday night.

Other than that, no excitement on tap. Just another day in paradise. Happy Last Day of February! 2018 is about 17% over already.

ETA: **swampy **- you have wallpaper? I never would have pegged you for a wallpaper kinda guy…

Well, snow flakes have been seen. All schools have been closed, kids are being sent home. Everyone’s getting terribly excited.

So far, we have about enough for an ant to go skiing.

What’s going on with Facebook? I click to post a comment, and the window disappears!! I can respond to other posts, but I can’t originate anything myself. Is this a plot against me???

I suppose I should get back to work.

If the heat goes out in the greenhouse, you could put a small warming device in your fabric shelter, just be careful though, the heat becomes…intense.

Bunny hills or black diamonds?

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Gonna have the Volvo towed to see what’s wrong with it.

Happy Hump Day!

Restless night again, weird dreams, and the brats were acting up.
The dog and I shared a bowl of ramen noodles before we went back to sleep.

Looks to be a pretty day today, N.O.S. with a high of 61.

Nuts - you have me picturing ants on skis, and they are wearing big sun glasses and have scarves around their little necks.

How many skis does an ant use?

Only two. Their front legs are holding poles, the middle and back legs share a ski.

Snowboarding could be a little tricky for them though.

Two, same as your uncle.

Hey, it’s hump day morning, I’m trying the best I can…

Rained last night and is still rainy this morning. And the temperature is 56F and not getting a whole lot warmer. Blurf.

chemist, had to look up OBX = Outer Banks of North Carolina. Nice.

FCM, Hmmm, having the same issue with FB. Since I have nothing of particular interest to post there, I am not overly concerned.

swampy, I’m looking to get the bathrooms and kitchen redone this fall (the rest of the house in 2019-20). Hope the work is done well. Keep us advised.

That’s all from here. I go now to forage in the refrigerator.

All this talk of skis and poles remind me I have to call Cousin Walter the Pollock and see if he still has my old cross-country gear. Yes ----- he is our Ski Pole.

Cousin Walter for a while used four ---- we made and mounted two short ones for his crutches. He loves the snow but ----------- have I mentioned he isn’t all that smart? His personal claim to fame is being called a Dumb Pollock which 50 years ago isn’t all that strange; but he was in Krakow at the time!!! :smack:
VACATION UPDATE ------- don’t know times but I will be around Adventure Park in Maryland June 15 and 16 -------- a Friday and Saturday. I was thinking basically a day off.

I has received two interesting emails this morning; both appear to be ‘legit’.

  1. A concert announcement…at a venue in SC. Don’t know how I got on their list.

  2. A charity, w/ the narrative of "Didn’t get into <race which I entered lottery for>? You can sign up w/ us & raise / buy your way in. Note that in the fine print if you don't raise the required amount you are personally on the hook for the remainder, even if you drop out (because presumably they could have given that spot to someone else who would have raised the minimum $, which is in the thousands).
Ummm, lottery hasn’t been drawn yet. :smack:

Well, it’s been utterly anticlimactic so far.

We literally got a 10 minute flurry, only the tiniest dusting of which settled, which has since vanished. That’s it.

Apparently some other bits of the county did actually get a bit of snow, but not here.

Today was supposed to be the day with the heavy snow, tomorrow is supposed to be less. I’m missing 2 days of class for this?

Yeah, I know, it’s not about me, some students and staff travel longer distances on poor roads, and there’s an official travel warning in place, but still… grumble grumble

The last few times I’ve gone up north I’ve wanted to get to Trimper’s Rides in Ocean City because they are the place where the cover from this album was shot. OC is pretty out of the way but I swear I will make it there one day.

Howdy Y’all! Back from St. Paul’s. I stopped at Ferd’s on the way there and bought some two liter bottles of Diet Coke on sale. They now reside where DC resides at da cave prior to consumption. A shelf in the garage to be exact. Now I await the arrival of the contractor folk. They are people I know. Matter of fact they are in the Luterun contingent over to the church house. They started a contractin’ bidness and everyone who has used 'em says they do good work so I decided to go with 'em. Plus they are nice people, a husband and wife team, and I really like both of 'em. Their two year old is my goddaughter, so I suppose that also played a part.

MOOOOOOM when I built the place I decided on wallpaper in the dinin’ room, livin’ room, kitchen, and hallway. Now I want it all gone. Plus it’s time to update stuff. I have decided that wallpaper is passé. I am goin’ with light gray in the bedrooms, dinin’ room, hallway, and bathrooms. In the livin’ room and kitchen where I have chair rails, the top half will be a light gray and the bottom half will be a darker (not quite charcoal) gray. Floorin’ will be replaced throughout da cave as well. Future plans call for walk in showers in both bathrooms. Oh and new counter tops in the kitchen and bathrooms. I am feelin’ ambitious.

Back from the mainland. The Dr. appointment was good. He used his camera to look and pulled one large scab out from one side. Said I am healing nicely and I only gotta go back one more time in six weeks. He did not use the vacuum this time.

I am off to the grocery to get makings for supper which shall be chicken and rice plus something green. Chicken and rice is easy. I don’t want to spend the rest of the day cooking. While we were gone hubby’s phone must have rang at least ten times. The A/C business is good right now due to damage from the storm.

Oh and Sunny asked. Things are slowly getting back to normal. Most of the trash has been removed. Up the Keys looks totally normal. The Lower Keys still have a little while to get back to normal.

OK off to Winn Dixie.
