Arnold, Cyclists and Hamantaschen - A Signs of Spring MMP

Damn, MBG, don’t you love it when ex-jobs remind you why it’s nice they’re ex?

I think that anything with complicated logic really should be thought through by the new coder when taking over and rewritten in the new coder’s own logic when possible. Obviously, I realize that some projects are just too big to allow that, but for most of what I do, it is reasonable to spend a couple days working through the logic yourself and rewriting, testing, and verifying it. If for no other reason that then, when someone asks you a question about why this number looks like this or why that number is different, you know how those numbers came about.

Speaking of coding, one of our developers left today. He was the bane of my existence for his first couple years here, socially awkward but condescending and thought he was god’s gift to coding. But then somewhere along the way he realized that my team actually, you know, knows something and started treating us with some respect. And he really was good about being proactive on fixing problems with the main database that we use. So now, after years of wishing he’d leave, I’m really kind of sorry to see him go because his replacements are contractors who just don’t give a sh*t.

That sucks, mbg. Glad your friends know it wasn’t you. I agree with **swampy **that the pointy stick is called for.

Have a good trip, rosie!

Hope the idiot is reprimanded appropriately, soapy.

My bike maintenance class was good. I took my back tire off myself, pulled out the inner tube, and then put it all back together. I was quite proud of myself. I don’t want to have to do that on the road, but at least I know I can.

Slow day here. Happy Firday! We’re supposed to get snow on Sunday and I am not amused. I already put the shovels in the shed, dammit!

Today is Cozmo’s first birthday. In his honor, I picked up a red velvet cake. He won’t get any but we’ll enjoy it.

I filled my car this afternoon at $3.43 - twenty minutes later, I drove past the same gas station and it was $3.39!! I coulda saved 33 cents, dammit!! Oh well.

Daughter is out for the evening. **FCD **and I are in. Time to forage for something edible.

I just…
But that’s…
How could…

bits of exploded brain explode

I don’t know why I’m so surprised at the depths of human stupidity, especially considering my current line of work, but I continually am.

All you hurtin’ Mumpers go feel better now. sends virtual ibuprofen/aspirin/acitometophen to all aches and pains

Speaking of aches and pains, the new bed sleeps great. It’s so wide that Culinary Boy can flop around like a dead fish all night (like he sometimes does) and I don’t wake up. I do, however, wake up when he gets up and tells Katy Kat to shut up, like he did this morning. Katy is very…demanding…in the morning.

Howdy Y’all! Home from a very successful and nummy, if’n I do say so myself, fish ‘n chips/ Stations of The Cross. The service was also very nice. SOTC is a good reflective kind of thing which is good durin’ Lent.

The food, though, was righteous! Awesome! Gooooood! Plus, there was even help for clean up! Help as in y’all did all the cookin’ so we’ll do all the cleanin’ type help. Worked for me!

Now Ima take myself beddy bye. Gotta be in large and in charge Blakely, Jawja for the big Peanut Festival tomorrow.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, off to irk. Hockey tonight.

Yay! It’s Caturday!

I am up relatively early today and busy doing household stuff because, unlike someone else, I went to bed at a sensible time and didn’t drink two bottles of wine and fall asleep on the sofa with a film on. Therefore I am up and the cats are fed, while someone else is still snoring.

Busy day today, I have to go and do errands in town but earlier than normal because I need to have dinner cooked for about 5pm. Tonight we’re off on the Black Country Beer Bus which, oddly enough, I am not that enthusiastic about. Someone I know and don’t particularly care for organised it ages ago for his birthday, set it up as a farcebook event and I declined it. Unfortunately, 'im indoors wants to go and will sulk if I don’t go with him, so now I am stuck with the prospect of spending the entire evening with someone whose company I try hard to avoid.

The bus picks us up at a local pub and then takes us to about four other pubs (and there’s beer on the bus as well) so hopefully the rest of the crowd tonight will keep me entertained. It doesn’t help that my diet plan doesn’t exactly allow for a lot of beer so I’m looking at a pint at the most.

And 'im indoors wants to go to the cinema tomorrow to see “Source Code”. Guess I’d better go and check out what imdb has to say about that, just in case I might like it, although I think “The Eagle” is far more up my little street.

Happy weekend, everyone!

Up, showered, dressed, and waiting for the rest of the household to reach the same state so we can go breakfast then buy some critter food. I also need a box or 2 of cat litter and some thread for sewing the living room curtains. That’s today’s plan unless **FCD **decides he wants to clean the garage after all. We shall see.

Th evil weatherfolk are saying 1-3" of the evil white stuff may accumulate before the end of the day tomorrow. I am not amused. In fact, I’m quite upset about it. It’s spring, dammit!! Stoopit snow.

Nothing else exciting. It’s early and I wish I could have slept longer, but we all know that’s pretty much impossible in a house full of critters. I was up kinda late finishing FCD’s afghan. Not sure what my next project will be, but I’ve got tons of yarn to use up, including lots of purple. Maybe I’ll make a smaller version of what I made him in shades of purple… Or I could play in my studio… hmmmmm

Happy Saturday!

Good morning all! Up and caffeinated, and have had a blueberry muffin. FCM, sorry about the snow forecast for y’all tomorrow AM - it looks like the greater accumulations are going to be to the south of DC, we’re only supposed to get a dusting. But you never know what the weather is going to really be! I do know that it’s darn cold out today and supposed to be even more cold tomorrow. Oh, hope you enjoyed the cake for the pug’s birthday!!

Happy 50th birthday to my brother Geoff! He’s my next to youngest brother and today he’s turning 50. He was born on Palm Sunday - at least in 1961, March 26th was Palm Sunday.

We don’t have any plans for this weekend. I’ll be doing a pot roast in the crock pot today, I think, and tomorrow we’re going to very slow/low cook a pork shoulder in the oven to make barbecue. Should be delicious!

Enjoy the weekend, all.

Up, coffeed and headed to Tar-jay…why is it when one light bulb goes out they all start to go ping?

later!

Just started sewing the curtains. Valences are next. It’s not hard, but it’s time consuming. Back to work…

Curtains are done. They’re narrow - just designed to frame the window. The valences will be 12" long, and I’ll have enough left to make tiebacks if we decide to use them.

Daughter has gone out to hang with friends. We’re going to a home and leisure show tomorrow in Waldorf - should be a nice way to kill a few hours. Not sure what we’re going to do about dinner tonight - I don’t feel like cooking. So, take out or eat out? Decisions, decisions…

Howdy Y’all! Miss me today? I’ve actually been at da cave for a while cause we left the festival early due to the start of rain. I will do a lot of things for irk but sit out in the rain is not one of ‘em. So I go back around two. OYKW needed ummm… “attention” and then I had a nap. I’m thinkin’ we’ll swipe General Tso’s dindin tonight.

MOOOOOOM definitely take out. Otherwise that would mean goin’ out in public two days in a row.

Home from fun garden fair. I won a plant and bought another one (which I have already put in a container on the porch). Yay!

Hope the pub crawl isn’t too bad, BooFae.

Wow, MBG, that’s some kind of messed up. Apparently teh Stupid is rampant in the world today…

Had some pizza for dinner and am considering what else to have.

Gonna knit for a while, I think.

Hope everyrone’s having a good Saturday.

Hugs.

GT

We ended up going out for a quick supper. Now we’re home. And the valence looks too short - I may have to buy more fabric and re-do it. boo.

Latest forecast is for maybe an inch of snow. I can deal with that. Chances are it won’t stick to the roads. But it will be cold, so ick. Oh well, whaddaya gonna do? I know what I’m gonna do - I’m gonna dig out some purple yarn and start on another afghan. Ta!!

Papa John’s ended up makin’ dindin so General Tso did not have to go hungry.

Pizza + Beer = GOOOOOOOOOD!

As expected, Scruffy woke me early, so I got to see the accumulated white stuff. It’s falling in big, fluffy flakes and melting as soon as it hits anything hard, but it is covering leaves and grass - maybe half an inch? At the rate the storm is moving, it should be done by noon. We shall see.

It is excellent snowball snow, tho - packs nicely - if I were so inclined…

Plans for the day include washing a load of towels and maybe some other stuff, plus a trip to the home show. Beyond that, dunno. Such is the devil-may-care life I lead.

Up, caffeinated, off to irk. Bowling and the UNC-TV telethon tonight.

I. Hate. Snow.

Up to purtify for deheathenization. Another day of toting the barge and lifting the bale 'round the house, then I have to pack for my Sandy Yeggo trip tomorrow.

**BBBobbio **- FYI, there’s a brunch/buffet at Rustic River in Leonardtown on Sat and Sun. I have no idea how good it is, but we were there for supper last night and saw the signs advertising it. So there’s one more breakfast option out our way.

And just out of nosiness, you flying out of DCA or BWI?

Weather update - the pavements are still just wet, but vegetative areas are snowy. I hope the new growth that has popped up doesn’t get damaged by the cold… stoopit snow. :frowning:
