Avatar criticism thread

I’m just glad people will stop thinking that I’m supposed to be a ring-tailed lemur when I’m supposed to be a red-ruffed lemur.

:smack: I thought it was French for “the mur”!

I think your avatar is great – a little bit mysterious, a little bit artsy, and meaningful to you. You wanna replace it with a miniature picture of a stupid cat? Go ahead, but I won’t respect you for it!

Well, you could always go with a cheese pic  But the kitty pic is nice.

Oh, cheese, my first love.

Beck, I did a search for “wrecked woman.” You could use this chick’s face as your avatar.

I don’t think the avatar should necessarily mirror the user name. In fact, I find that rather redundant.

OMG! Thx for doxxing me! I thought I had those photos deleted.

Is it just me or do the avatars bump the poster’s name way too far to the right? Is that fixable?

The newer theme does that, the original theme doesn’t.

When I tried the new theme briefly to see what all the fuss was about WRT avatars, it seems that not only do avatars bump the poster’s name way over, but the distance is different for different posters, possibly due to exaggerated effects of slightly different avatar sizes. It just confirms my conviction that the new theme sucks eggs. It looks like crap for many reasons and I never use it.

Wow, I didn’t even know those existed. I have to say that I like the new theme better (it makes it clearer where each post starts), but I definitely don’t like the avatar bug.

Hah, that’s a pic of ‘home time’ at the Melbourne Cup (horse race). Every year there are many fillies in an equal or worse state than the young lady pictured.

It was always wonderful to see half of the city heading off by train early in the morning in all their finery, fascinators and fancy-footwear. By 5pm when they were starting to come home, it was a different picture altogether.

:D:D

I just changed mine as the former was not makeoutable.

{{sigh!}}:frowning:

You say that, but your avatar is quite detailed and perhaps the very best 50x50 I’ve seen here.

I have changed mine, Let’s see how long it lasts. The original one was a screenshot from Google street view of a tavern I hung out at in my early 20s. It was not close to square and was barely visible. I won’t identify the new one unless someone recognizes it.

NOOOOO! I love yours. It’s what I’ve always pictured anyway.

I agree. So long as it is reasonably distinct it will serve its purpose.

I’m growing to like them more every day. Makes scanning a thread for a poster so much easier.

and it helps to prevent me from confusing you with septimus.
