Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Working another double today.
Cats, considering the number of Damn Yankees in Raleigh, we’d do better at this.

me, too, ‘ceptin’ I only have appropriate ones, but I’ll cross my eyes when I’m done typing.
So much blurf! Thanks for the rain storm, Mid Atlantic Inland regions! NOT!
I used to think you were a cool guy.
It’s awesome there. A significant portion of the crowd comes straight from one of the nearby establishments that sells (human) anti-freeze, making the average BAC about a .12 but surprisingly well behaved. The hillside makes a natural amphitheater with beach balls floating thru the crowd, a comedian or two for the opening act, & the best part, the only time I’ve seen pre-dawn fireworks. After prognostication is made, there’s the mad rush to the buses/walk back into town for one of the many pancake breakfasts.
Blurf. I’d say I feel like I was run over by a train this morning, but someone really did park their disabled* car on the tracks. (not too bad, luckily)
Showered, dressed, and dishwasher has been emptied and sorta refilled. Just waiting for my sweetie to get home. I just read his post-op instructions - he’s not supposed to be in a car for longer than 20 minutes - that’ll be tough, since we live 45 minutes from the hospital. The big issue will be getting him to sit upright, not slouching. I’m sure that’s part of the problem anyway - I’ll move a dining room chair into the living room and get him to use it instead of the couch. And I’ll surrender the recliner - he’s allowed to recline.
But no driving, no lifting over 10#, no vacuuming, no bending, stooping, pushing or straining. This is going to be a challenge since he’s ever-so-slightly stubborn. At least he can shower as long as I put the waterproof bandages on his back. Wonder how that’s going to work when I go back to work?? He doesn’t like to shower at night.
It’s so hard to be me… *<tragic pose of woe>

Happy Hump Day all y’all.
No tornadoes last night, but lots and lots of rain hitting the roof around midnight left me a bit short on sleep, which always improves my humor…not.
Got a letter or two to compose and a meeting to attend, but still a pretty light work day is forecast. Rain seems to be leaving the area, but so is the 70F days, back into the 50’s.
Still no rain here, but it does look to be moving in from the east, so maybe later. We’re promised upper 60s this afternoon, and I opened the window in the stairwell for the cat to get some air. I’m so nice.
Just checked my phone - it looks to be fully charged, so that’s good. I should get the tablet ready to go.
Fingers crossed, and good surgical thoughts to FCD
I’m awake and it’s still dark outside. I hate when that happens.
**Lily **- you’d hate my life then - I go to work in the dark every morning, and I will till we change our clocks again and the days get longer.
**FCD **is home. We’ll leave here in about 30 minutes. At least it’s a dreary day - I won’t feel like I’m wasting sunshine indoors.
Gonna pick up my baby (my alto clarinet) from the repair shop today. Then off to rehearsal with the instrument.
Happy Hump Day!
It’s a rainy 40 degrees outside, supposed to get up to 56. Then it looks like the temps start dropping and we get snow on Toosday.
I’m tired and feel like hell, but I can take a nap later.
I’m stressing out over stuff that shouldn’t even be bothering me. Last night I dreamed about typing s-t-r-e-s-s-e-d over and over and realized you can do it with one hand.
Someone else may say it but ----- rock salt. PA roads departments throw tons of the stuff and the (serious) ruling from the EPA/DEP was that it creates a hazard to the wildlife in and on the rivers. I usually agree with them; until we get a major snow event and two months later some of the piles are still around and slowly melting.
That was in the smaller print but just as valid. Especially with Pittsburgh being the Parking Chair capital of the world.
You have us confused with New Jersey! ![]()
I can’t help it; I just really really hate groundhogs. I do like the Buzzard Festival in Ohio, the KielbasaFest in Plymouth PA, Saurkraut Festival in Henderson and lots of other silly things that involve heavy drinking and crowds. I’ve been in every Pittsburgh zombie event and driven as far as 500 miles to attend others. But add one of those rodents and you lost my interest.
Perhaps one frightened you when you were a child. :dubious:
Groundhogs iz cute! Maybe I think so because I first got to know them as marmots while hiking.
Saw neurologist yesterday. Going to be trying a few new things for the migraines. One is a device that puts magnetic pulses through your brain several times a day. I will also be undergoing a procedure where they numb a nerve bundle in your face. I basically said, “bring it” to the doctor. I’m ready to try pretty much anything at this point.
Kids are off to school. I’m working from home. My office is very close to the Super Bowl stadium. TPTB are telling us to just work from home to avoid the traffic and general looniness.
Now for breakfast. Happy Hump Day y’all!
Oh, and, thinking good thoughts for FCD!
IRKING. Of course. Where else would I be? Been here since early. Still trying to catch up the end of the month stuff.
My whole body aches all over. Hope I ain’t getting sick.
Mmmooooommmm Thinking of you and Dad
Day off, up earlier than I really intended, but I woke up on my own and clearly had no chance of going back to sleep, so figured I might as well get up. The Princess is fed, I’m still working on getting alert enough to tackle that Payroll Accounting homework.
Hope everything is going well with FCD’s surgery.
I’m with ruble on the no love for ground hogs thing, although I don’t actually hate them. I grew up truck farming and we had to trap the beasts to have crops that were saleable (IOW, unbitten by groundhogs).
In my current home, there was a groundhog who had a burrow in the lawn across the hedge. The bluejays would tag team him whenever he came up from his hole, pecking him on the head then flying away. It was a case of the @$$holes of the bird world picking on a slow, dimwitted rodent. It did make for light entertainment when sitting out on my deck though.
The thunderboomers last night didn’t turn into tornados in my neck of the woods, thank goodness. My downstairs neighbor did call me around nine though to tell me that he would leave a door unlocked for me just in case I needed to get to lower ground.
Howdy Y’all! Three down and two to go. YAY! It’s been stormy and rainy this afternoon but I think it’ll all be done in about an hour. Dindin is grocery sto’ deli take out. I’m keepin’ the warm stuff warm and the cold stuff cold until OYKW gets here.
Kopek, will you tell us about your traumatic experience with Marmota monax?
Sometimes, it helps to talk about Bad Things.
