Back on the road again: an MMP

Spent about $100 replacing a fraction of the perishables we had to throw out. My fridge looks so empty and sad. I just got the basics to get by and will replace other things as time goes on. (Like, I didn’t get any salad dressing because the brand I like wasn’t on sale and I’m not going to eat salads in the next couple days.)

Today is another day. Back at irk, but nothing I can’t handle. Tonight I’ll do some art with my kids; I want my daughter to make a card for our nanny before the summer is up and she goes back to college. (I can’t believe the summer is almost up already… wow.) Romeo Jr. will probably just scribble for a while. He’ll probably try to eat the crayons, too.

Mooooom, the models that I’m considering are a Soul or Elantra. Both are good basic cars.

alien, the spare tire thing is a moot point for me. While I know how to change a tire, I can no longer do it physically, therefore, I’ll be calling roadside assistance to bring me one.

bumba, Sis bought an XB the last year that they were made and loves it. However, I’m shopping for new, otherwise, it would be high on the list.

butters, I hope that all goes well for Louie at the vet. Give him skritches from me.

Juliet, I consider not exposing kids to some of our less desirable moods and emotions a form of child abuse akin to not having disagreements with their other parent in their presence. It sets no example for them to learn from when it comes to dealing with those emotions or conflict resolution in their own world. Keep it real. Your kids get to see you when you’re up, let them learn empathy for you when you’re down.

I slept better last night. I think I’ll pick up a back brace to use as a rib belt today. I also need to call the tow lot.

I found out yesterday that laundry is very time consuming when it takes 20 minutes to transfer clothes from the washer to the dryer. :stuck_out_tongue: Today, I’ll find out my limitations on vaccuuming, sweeping the floor and taking out the trash. While I’m giving myself a break on stripping the bed, some housework does need to get don or I will be living in a sty. :stuck_out_tongue:

Roadside assistance can swap your flat tire for your spare/donut as all they’re doing is taking one tire/rim off & putting another tire/rim on. They cannot bring a new tire, remove your old one from the rim & mount the new one on the rim roadside. If you don’t have a spare, all they can do is tow you somewhere because mounting/balancing equipment isn’t exactly portable.

Some cars come w/o a spare but it is now an option to buy one; have the dealer throw it in as part of your price negotiations. Others don’t even have a space for a spare anymore; I wouldn’t buy one of those cars.

With the size of our workforce having a funeral now and then isn’t a big surprise and with it being an inner-city ground-floor thing the diversity of loss (opioids, suicide, natural) shouldn’t be a surprise but it always is. So few people are around long enough to become familiar faces that when something does happen to one it throws you back a little. Mostly its a case of “what ever happened to that guy who used to work here” or “that lady arrested yesterday - wasn’t she here during Peak”— when the face and some version of the name (we use a lot of nicknames) was working next to you a couple days before its a little different. And since no-one has been arrested and it looks like there aren’t even any leads or suspects (possibly a totally random or stray thing) it just all seems incomplete and unreal.

Oh well ------ like they used to say in the one cartoon “I knew the job was dangerous when I took it, Fred”.

**Red **- my inlaws drive an Elantra and they seem happy with it. I was somewhat surprised when they got it - up until then, they’d pretty much always had Hondas. I’m sure price was a factor, tho.

This drawing I’m rasslin’ with is a real booger! (I could say worse, but I won’t!) I’ve never had one take as long as this one - and I’m working from an existing drawing, so it should have been a relatively simple update… yeah, right. If I get it done today, I’ll be amazed!

My daughter took Roxy to visit my mom, so they won’t be home for supper. SIL is hanging with his brother, and **FCD **is pissed about being left in charge of their dog. I’m relishing the relative peace and quiet of my office.

We had a good trip to the Vet. The bump on the inside of Louie’s thigh was just a cebacious cyst and a little poke from a needle drained it so that is gone. With his cancer history I have to get every little lump and bump seen about. He also got his toenails trimmed. You’d think he were being killed.

I drove to my irk after leaving the veterinarian office and in between the Vet and my Office with a quick stop at the Post Office I lost my stinking credit card out of my pocket. I reported it lost as soon as I got home and checked online and no one had used it. Lesson learned. Put the card back into the wallet not a pocket.

Once we got back from all that the maid was still here so I went to the grocery store. She was just finishing up when I got back from there. I shall cook a real meal tonight.

Red, I did a lot of research, including going to an auto show and driving a bunch of cars, before I bought my Scion 5 years ago. I really liked the Soul. I don’t even remember the Elantra. Anyway, the Xb and the Soul have almost the exact same amount of room in the front seats, but the Soul had a couple of inches less headroom in the back seat. The Soul also has a much better warranty. I liked it, but Wifey liked the Xb better. Take that for what it’s worth.

I don’t like casual packers myself. I feel that if your gonna carry a lethal weapon around, you should put in the time to get really good at it.

I’m sure the researcher had that kind of information but it wasn’t part of the video. (I told you it was annoying.) Anyway, the incidence of a fatal outcome was considerably less with .32, although the incidence of the assailant breaking off the attack was pretty good, but still less. Keep in mind that getting shot with anything in the right (wrong) place can be fatal, and it doesn’t matter how big your bullet is if you don’t put it in the right place.

We’ve probably said more about guns than most people here are comfortable with, so I’ll drop it for now, except to say that ‘accidental discharges’ are why God invented thumb safetys.

I will say one more thing. I am licensed to carry a concealed handgun in the state of Oregon, but I don’t. 'Cause I don’t wanna.

Howdy Y’all! I have layed in provisions and have accomplished mowage. Go Me! We shall sup upon boxed lasagna (don’t judge!), sallit, and cheesey garlic bread. Meanwhile 'tis chill time. I’s tahrd.

I haz had a relatively productive day so far. Bought carpet for the bedroom, an equipment for my soccer balls, and a legal notepad to make up soccer teams on. Went to the new library imn my town (very nice) so I wouldn’t be distracted at home (squirrel!!!) while I made up the 10 teams. I think I split them fairly evenly, but they are not final until Saturday. With all that work I treated myself to the Metro Diner Holy Davoli Burger (6 oz. burger with a letter/minced picked dressing, with two grilled cheese sandwiches with bacon and tomato acting as the bun) with fries, and I don’t think I will be hungry again until Thorsday or so…Waiting now for the guy from the carpet place to come by to measure the room.

Mmooommm, put that drawing in a headlock and make it give up!!

Juliet, that’s the ticket, build up slowly to get back to normal.

Butters, good news for Louie; even if he’s disgruntled due to the clip joint…

Holy crap! All I did was look up Hyundai Kona on a site that required my phone number and I had six dealerships calling within ten minutes. That may bode well on a deal if they’re that hungry.

Back from gas station, cvs, car wash, cold stone (had a gift card that was several years old and needed to be used).
Truck died again, several times, on the way home. I’m taking it to the dealer tomorrow.

Came home and gave Ripple a small cup of ice cream, then he got to play with the bubble wrap from the package from da jungle, then he brought me the mail. He is one happy dog.
My son has a bunch of ice cream cupcakes, so he is happy.

I have to go out again tomorrow, and put out more money on the truck, I am not happy. I hope it is nothing expensive.

Home. **FCD **is trying to set up a home network, and he is stymied. I’ve tried looking over his shoulder, but I don’t understand networks, so I’m no help. Our computers are all physically connected to the router, but we can’t connect to each other. It’s probably a simple setting that we’re missing.

Stoopit computers.

Supper tonight is grab whatever. Meanwhile, I’s tahred.

Red the Kona looks nice, but the Soul is gonna cost less for about the same amount of utility. Just my 2 cents.

Mom, please don’t be insulted if you’ve already thought of this, but did you remember to turn on ’ file sharing’ for the areas on your computers you want to be able to see from the other machine(s)? I got hung up on that for a little while at first. I could see the other computers under ‘Network’ but I couldn’t see anything on them.
(I basically just wanted to share my ‘documents’, ‘pictures’ and ‘music’ folders.)

**Bumba **- how do you turn file sharing on? Trust me - I’m not insulted. I’m lost!

Dare I ask which versions of Windows you are running?

Set up an email (& maybe a corresponding google voice #) for your new car inquiries; that way you can just forget it after you’ve gotten something; otherwise, you will be bombarded for months, if not years. redsnewcar2018@____.com

spidey, I just did that. Four more dealerships have called. Who knew there were so many Hyundai dealerships in middle Tennessee?

We have supped and all is well. ‘Tis pleasant out with a temp of only 83 with a heat index of 88. I may even go out on the back porch and enjoy the weather whilst sippin’ upon a beerverage.

WOOHOO! I managed to get me an avatar on the first try even! I am smarter than the average bear!

Win 10 on 2 of the machines, win 7 on the other.
