Back on the road again: an MMP

Edited to add: First on three!!!

This is assuming you’re on windoze 7;

Your computers have to be members of a ‘homegroup’. One may have been created for you already by windows. I don’t really understand how or why that happens.
Anyway, click on ‘start’
Click on ‘control panel’
Click on ‘homegroup’

If your computer isn’t part of a homegroup it should tell you how to create or join one.
It’s been a really long time since I did this so I can’t begin to tell you what you should be seeing here.

If your computer is already a member somewhere in the window that opens it will say so. Also there should be a part of the window where you can select what you want to share.
It should say “Share libraries and printers” and have selections for Pictures, Music, Videos, Documents and Printers. You’ll want to at least select ‘printers’

There should also be links to screens where you can do other interesting and potentially dangerous things.

You’ll want to do this on both or all of your computers.

Be sure to click on the link to display your homegroup’s password and write it down.

I’m sure there are people here who know far more about this stuff than I, but this should get you started.

So, no Boo-Boo on the avatar, eh, swampy?

Soccer was Thunder and Lightning out tonight, no rain but you don’t mess around with that much electricity in the air and 6-9 year old kids running around. Try again tomorrow.

Dinner was Oreos and Bananas…hey, I’m still stuffed from lunch.

Red, surprised you’re not hearing from the Hyundai dealer in Huntsville…it’s only 90 miles away…

Sari, hope it’s something minor for the truck repair. At least you and yours have Ice Cream.

G-d help you.
Windows 8 and 10, efforts to make PCs work like cell phones.
There is no Windows 9; they hoped we would forget about that if we got the start button back in Windows 10.

hey FCM herd s thread that needs ya input …… https://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=860256
its about engineering and the navy ……

Worked, came home. Doing some online car shopping, since the Volvo is not long for this world.

I also enjoy bad mommys.

Hah. I was looking at an old diary of mine to try to find some information I wanted. I didn’t find that, but I found something I wrote in junior college where I said that Wednesday was a day devoted to “music and other vulgar pursuits.”
I was even weirder then than I am now.

You say that like it’s a bad thing.

And I have an avatar now, too.

At first when I read about Wednesday being a day of “music and other vulgar pursuits,” I didn’t remember what I meant. Then I remembered I had classes that day with a teacher that I sort of had a bit of a thing for, and sometimes he’d let me…
…have a sip of his coffee!

Yeah, I was really wild back in those days. Not as wild as I got in my McGill years, though… but that is a whole other set of stories. The one occasion where I drank out of said teacher’s beer glass wasn’t even that wild, as I didn’t get drunk that time. Other times are other stories.

If there is ever one about intelligence and the army it will be a short thread.
Worked and came home and that’s about it for today.

30 years ago, when I was 17, I had a bout of the measles. A side effect was an olfactory problem, somehow the air started to smell tainted, like it was musky and dry and thoroughly unpleasant. It lasted not just throughout my illness but recurred every time I got ill for other reasons for about five or six years afterward. Then it faded and never happened again.

Until last night. For some reason my sense of smell has tainted again and the air smells dusty and dry and unpleasant again. But this time I am not currently ill, in fact I feel just dandy in every other way.

I’m not sure if I should be worried or not, but it’s weird.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy (OK, dark) with a predicted high of ONLY 89 (BRRR!) and the likely event of rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon/evenin’. We shall see. Not much doin’ today which is fine by me. Some domesticated like chores I need to do shall be accomplished, and provided the weather cooperates, maybe some quality cee-mint pond time. We shall sup on salmon patties, peas, smashed N.O.T., and bizkits.

Batkid maybe if this persists a couple of days get it seen about.

Midget I never set a day aside for vulgarity durin’ my misspent youth. I made room for vulgarities everyday.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants food. Then, onward into the day. Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

ETA: MetalMouse HAR!

Last night, I dreamed that **FCD **and I were looking at real estate in Key West. Except nothing in the dream looked anything at all like Key West - nary a palm tree in sight. Plus we were just going into peoples’ houses to check out the views. No agent, no one home, just us going in to have a look.

Night brains are weird…

Day 4 of this gawd-awful drawing for Tim. OK, it’s 13 pages long, and it’s got lots of weird views that I struggle to figure out. And it’s one that’s been rolled over from program to program - copied and modified each time, so its innards are weird. For example, sometimes when I regenerated the page, all the datum lines disappear. Then a little later, they all reappear. Random weirdness. Anyway, I’m up to sheet 12, so with luck, I’ll wrap it up this morning. Yeah. luck.

Happy Thursday! At least I have a chocolate pop tart to start my day!!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.

Awake, dog walked and that’s it so far. I don’t know what the day shall hold. I could get use to this being at home thing. Today is the first day that it actually feels like a break. Still off until Moanday.

I need to see if I can get an appt for hair doing.

Happy Thursday all!

Got up at 7am and took the garbage out, which meant putting the car in the driveway next to the dumpster, which leaves me maybe three inches or so from the grass.

Speaking of the grass, it needs cutting once the morning dew dries up. 78F already so I expect it’ll dry quickly. Rain and Tunder-Boomers are due tomorrow, so no prevarcating.

FCM, Surprised you didn’t walk into Butters house while dream-shopping…and enjoy the long weekend, Butters.

Batboy, it could be some type of reaction to something in the air/system…aw hell, I haven’t a clue, so I’ll echo swampy’s advice and get thee to a doctor if it persists.

Midget, just remember that ‘vulgar’ means (in it’s, older, original sense) “…characteristic of or belonging to the masses.” So you’re just behaving like the rest of us would (or do).

ruble, I met a lot of intelligent people in the US Army; however, what they are ordered to do sometimes does stretch the imagination…

Enough; need sustinance and a change of clothes. All y’all take care.

Happy Thorsday!

Busy morning already, wanting to cuss, and ready to kill a dog and a cat.
As soon as I get off irk I have to shower and head out for the car dealership, and hope the truck makes it there without too much trouble. It’s only a few miles away, but a few miles is a long way when you stall out every few blocks.
My son is dreading it because Ripple was so bad when I left Monday. He wants to go with me and flips out when he can’t.

Thorsday is bill paying day, and I haven’t been able to do a thing because irk has been so busy. I don’t know why the college is taking so long to transfer funds so I can order my son’s books.

I haven’t had a nap all week and I am feeling it today. I need some breakfast too.

I wouldn’t rush to the ER but if it persists I would call it out to my doctor next time I see her for some other reason.

Yeah ---- but Beloved Brother being a Full Bird at the end, I just am required to pick on the army any chance I get. Its in the fine print of his enlistment papers somewhere.

Plus he was mostly back and forth between the 82nd, 7th Group and JFKCMA with a few stints down Stewart-way --------- NASA does less recruiting there than they do at Da Jungle!

Bull$#!t!

He Ripple or he Sah-kid?
Got an email blast from someone last night; his wife is going into hospice today. What do you say to him, at this point? “I’m sorry for you loss” or “My condolences” seem to be for after someone passes & seem kinda crass to (me to) say now.

It appears to not be a good time for cars amongst Mumpers. I fear I may have put that out in the universe with my talk of buying a car a few weeks back… Good luck all with car shopping. It is both super fun and super annoying at the same time…

**Butters **works in KW, but lives in another Key, and I’m pretty sure she doesn’t live along a rocky coast… in fact, I’m pretty sure none of the Keys have rocky coasts.

I finally finished the drawing from hell (I hope) and this afternoon will be spent doing the corrections on the various drawings coming back. I love it when one engineer says “Do this” then another engineer gets hold of the design and says “No, do that!!” Fortunately, the changes are relatively minor and I did the drawings in the first place, so they don’t have the weird inbred problems that Tim’s drawing did. Anyway, I should be able to clear my desk this afternoon… theoretically.

But it’s lunch break, so yay!

And Aretha has joined the choir invisible… :frowning:
