Back to "normality" in the MMP?

**Sunny **- they’ll be doing fusions from the front and the back. They prefer to do the part from the front first, then wait 2-3 weeks before doing the back. I think their main concern is that doing it all in one day makes for a *looooooong *day in surgery. We have the added disadvantage of living about 2 hours from the hospital, so that’s 2 extra trips he’d have to make, and until his back is fixed, being in the car that long is really hard on him.

Not to mention doubling all the expenses for the hospital, the surgeons, the rest of the staff… we’ve got good insurance, but our share will still run into the thousands as it is. Frankly, I think it’s more that the doctors prefer the shorter procedures, but they’re the ones who said it could be done all in the same day. It’s not like we’re forcing them out of their comfort zone.

And especially for me - I’ll be making that trek enough as it is - I don’t need to add to it.

Meanwhile, I’m so tired, I can barely deal with the signing DVD. I’ve run thru the first sections 3 times and my brain just won’t accept it.

Double post

Kitchen finally finished: reefer pulled, stove pulled, cabs cleaned, floor and counters cleaned, floor mats scrubbed. Even pulled up the top of the stove to clean out the greasy gunk under the rim. Best purchase I ever made: my Hoover carpet/floor scrubber. Bought it probably 20 years ago and it’s still going strong.

Next up, the outside of the windows and all of the screens, while the wife tackles the bedroom. But first, my back gets a rest.

Thinking about gotti and hoping the procedure went well.

Also thinking about Beck. The first day after a surgery can be rugged, so I hope she’s reasonably comfortable.

Spidey, every comment I’ve thought of about your jeans, uh, situation sounds risqué, so I’ll just say I’m glad they got a burial at garbage.

Filbert, wishing you good luck on the application.

Cupcake, I hope the doc was able to diagnose and treat the sore throat. The last thing you need is yet another health issue at your house.

Moooom, I hereby propose Wednesday be known as Wiggle Giggle Day. Oh, sure, Hump Day is fine, but imagine how much happier we’d all be if it was also Wiggle Giggle Day! I like to think it’d make a whole lot of stultifying meetings a little livelier. Glad FCD likes the surgeon. I get why they don’t want to do such a long surgery in one swoop, but that’s what they’re getting paid the big bucks for.

It sounds like last night was rough for a lot of people. I hope that means sound sleep with good dreams tonight!

metal mouse, I couldn’t help but notice that the remote control cooler was made in Wisconsin.

butters, I’m sorry about your relative. So many lost so much yesterday.

baker, I’m glad that Mauser got a clean bill of health and the car is fixed.

Mooooooom, I have scars similar to yours and metal mouse’s, but from the hysterectomy a couple of years ago.

Hoping surgery went well for beck and gotti.

Good luck on your application for A Thing nuts!

I woke up to a BG of 55 this morning  (it should be a minimum of 70 just to drive a car), so I took a half day off and irked from home the rest of the day. Everything’s normal now.

My company is putting together a volunteer crew to assist the folks in East Nashville and Mt. Juliet. I’ll likely take one of the two paid volunteer days that the company offers next week. This is the only place I’ve ever worked that offered that. It’s heartwarming to see the folks in my area come together to get things cleaned up and help our neighbors.

Nut, I will think good things about A Thing for you.

FCM, hope the fusions go well; sound like you have good reasons for getting it all done at once, glad FCD likes the Dr., a good attitude helps.

Cookie, would you like to come and do my kitchen next?

Spidey, way too much information on the rip there.

flytrap, if you got good material, use it.

Only thing accomplished today was emptying out two boxes of loose photos, some going back to the 1930’s and earlier. So the boxes are empty but my sectional is full of photos because I spent so much time looking at them I didn’t get them organized (and need some envelopes/boxes to put them in). Well, there’s always tomorrow…and tomorrow…and tomorrow…

Need to do some shopping Thorsday and get the garbage out and wash a bunch of sweatshirts, so hopefully will be a responsible citizen tomorrow.

All y’all take care.

Um, Red, I accuse you of false advertising. I saw your photo on FB - you’re not a redhead! I am disillusioned - you don’t look the way you’re supposed to look. I may sue you for mental anguish! :stuck_out_tongue:

ASL instructor has said we’ll start signing on Monday. We’ve spent the first 4 hours of a 16 hour course listening to him talk about miscellaneous stuff. Yeah, some relevant to the class, but some just BSing. Oh well…

Time now to crawl into bed with Mel.

Mooooom, I was a redhead most of my life until the white staged a hostile takeover. :stuck_out_tongue: I decided that blonde was better camo. The handle missred had another meaning as well.

Back when I lived on the north side of Nashville and commuted to the east side, my car wouldn’t start one morning. Since my only other vehicle was in the body shop after being hit, I needed a ride to work. I called a friend who told me that his girlfriend had his car and he was riding his Harley, Mabel (after his mama), but would be glad to pick me up.

When my coworkers saw me get off the back of a badass bike with a 6’5" guy who looked like a refugee from ZZTop, one of them quipped “Boy, have I ever mis-read you!” It stuck. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nellie. Doc diagnosed tonsillitis with 10 days of antibiotics. I don’t feel bad just have a sore throat. Hubby is puny today but I think it’s more mental that he can’t go like he always did. He realizes it could be worse.

Irked on the List for evac locations. Got some progress but a long way to go. I will have what he requested by Moanday but it may not be good enough for me. The Hurrex exercise is first of June so I can continue to add. Why can’t the government give a little more notice?

We were also sent a huge mail with lots of attachments re Coronavirus. I haven’t had time to read the entire thing but will institute more disinfection procedures around the building forthwith. I made hubs eggs sammiches and I am having a bowl of cereal. Living high on the hog here. It was after 6 when I got home after spending 20 minutes waiting on the RX to be filled. I feel guilty I didn’t make a proper dinner. Maybe I can do better tomorrow.

I am also sleeping with Mel.

Mel’s a popular guy tonight. He’ll be joining me as well. Must try getting more than 4 hours of sleep a night.

Morning, mumpers! I had hoped to be a bit more of a regular visitor but this week seems to have run away again.

Hope the sickies are all better and the surgeries went well for all those who had one.

Nuts, best of luck with The Thing! I’m glad someone else appreciates why I hate having to deal with students some of the time.

Coronavirus is currently causing me lots of problems as we have students coming and going from China and Italy, and others not sure if they should be coming and going from other parts of the world. But the worst are the anxious parents who think we, as an institution, Should Do Something. No idea what we’re supposed to do apart from follow government advice.

le sigh

Howdy all!

Let me clear up the relationships here.

Kiko was a street dog, when he chose me. I didn’t want a dog. They live 15 years, and I don’t know where I will be tomorrow. We go everywhere together, walking. So, I call him my son.

And now the drama. If you cry easily, skip this paragraph. Kiko loves to run. And really enjoys a run if there is a cat running in front. Here in the tropics there are plenty of trees, and the cats always escape. If the cat stands his ground, doesn’t move, Kiko just walks on by. But if they run, the game is on. One day a cat was in the yard. It was still, then attacked Kiko. This is the sad part, but with a happy ending. Kiko killed the cat.

Two days later, two kittens were crying and coming down from the roof. So, as it turns out the mama cat was protecting her kids. With the help of this MB, I learned how to turn those ferral cats into loving creatures. At first meeting, they were all claws and teeth.

I told Kiko that due to his actions, he was responsible for the kittens. And he accepted it. Bathed them (even licking their butt holes), slept with them and protected them. So, they are his kids and their dad. And my grandkids.

On March 1st, Rayita, Kiko’s daughter had the kittens. So, he is a grandad and me a great grandpa. So, that is the relationships.

I did get an Imgur account. And loaded up a photo of the new crew. I just haven’t figured out how to tell you kind folks about it. When I get it figured out, I will load photos of Kiko and his kids sleeping together.

I shouldn’t be up, so, I am going to crawl into my hammock. Will be back later and tell about page two.

Enjoy the day!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slug abed until almost eight this mornin’! ‘Tis 56 Amurrkin out, and as BooFae and Nuts would say, bucketin’ down with a predicted high of 59 and yet more bucketin’ down for the day. We have flood warnin’s for area creeks. I should go over to the church house today to do some prep work for the fish fry tomorrow, but that might not happen. If it comes down to it, I could go tomorrow mornin’ and just spend the day dealin’ with stuff. Maybe the rain will abate some this afternoon, we shall see. Sup shall be chikin’ 'n dumplin’s with vegetative matter tbd.

Nuts appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed for A Thing.

Cookie I could get ambitious about cleanin’ like you, but I don’t see that happenin’.

Butters hope the tonsils are better soonest.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, well, let us see what the day has in store. Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Mel took his sweet time, but I finally dropped off and had a pretty good night. Not sure what the day holds - I’ll figure it out as I go along. Except for a load of shirts - **FCD **claims he’s almost out. I helped him purge his t-shirts a few weeks ago - no way he’s almost out, but I’ll humor him.

Onward! Happy Thursday!!

moon unit, great story. can’t wait for part 2.

boofae, could be worse, you could be taking advice from our president (I think you’re not in the USA). And that is all I’m going to say, since we keep poly-ticks out of the MMP.

red, never thought to ask you about that. My dad was nicked named “Red” although during my life I never saw a red hair on his head, but old friends would still call him that.

Got a little cold this morning, but still plan on getting out and doing shipping lest the list gets any longer. Garbage can is at the curb so that Thorsday mission is done. Rainy this am and due to get to 56F today. More picture sorting is in my future for the afternoon.

All y’all take care.

Note to self. Do not take 40mg of Prednisone at 4:30pm, drink 2 glasses of Diet Dr. Pepper in the evening, and expect to fall asleep before midnight. That just doesn’t work.

Happy Thorsday!

Just kidding, it’s not a happy day at all.
I HATE the new irk website, to the point that I have been ready to quit.
Except I can’t quit if I want to eat and have a roof over my head, but for the first time in years I am thinkging about getting another job.
That is how frustrating this new website is.
It is a piece of shit, and whover designed it obviously never has to use it, or else they are just stupid.
I had to send in another ticket this morning as I can’t log in, I did manage to keep the snark out of it because it’s usually not a good idea to be snarky to tech support.

Once had a coworker who always talked down to the people in the computer room, she thought she was too good for them.
Well, everytime they needed a partition to run something important, guess whose job was the one they would cancel? Her printouts were always ‘gettting lost’, her jobs were always being bumped back to the end of the line because something very important just came in.

Anyway, the sun is shining and that is always a good thing. It was a chilly 34 at the park this morning but it’s up to 43 now and supposed to get up to 54.
Then we have some more cold weather for a few days.

Making a turkey breast today, it’s been thawing in the fridge since Moonday night. I’ll use the instant pot.

My son was told in class last night that if the coronavirus hits MD his class will become an online class. Seems a bit silly to me, depending on where in MD it shows up.
He went in early for a team meeting and only one of his team members showed up (three person team). It seems the other one, who has social anxiety, is excused from doing any team assignments, so it will just be the two of them doing the irk. I wonder if that team member will have to do something on her own, or if she just gets a ‘free’ ride.

I forgot my son has to see a jazz concert as one of his assignments. Easy to do at the college, since they have concerts there. I have to figure out where to go for one and when it is. I think he should ask the professor if it’d okay to go to a jazz club instead of a concert, as I’ve heard there is one of those near here.

It’s the doings of my missus. Were it up to me, I’d be living in squalor and just take a fire hose to the place once every five years or so. Or burn it down.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. It’s supposed to rain today. I need to do laundry.

Dunno, that seems perfectly normal for you.:D;)

No it doesn’t.

Well, our cruise fare refund has been processed. We lost the deposit, so that’s what I’ll be claiming from the insurance company. We should get it all back… theoretically. I need to print out the forms and fill them in. Plus we need to send one page to the surgeon so he can fill it out for us. So that’s one less thing to worry about. Whew!
