Huh. This is turning out to be a pretty good day! I got a small but unexpected check in the mail. I also got my Medicare Supplement card, so I’m officially official.
And I got a call from the eye doctor’s office. You know that unique contact lens that has to be specially fitted? Well, the optometrist ordered one. I haven’t been fitted in four years, and it requires this special machine that measures 1,000 points on the cornea, so I’m confused. Maybe she used the old measurements and estimated??? Also, why only one lens? Dunno, but hey, things are moving forward!
Oh, and instead of the 8 weeks it used to take to get the lens, it’s now only 1-2 weeks.
AND it’s MUCH cheaper than it used to be ($125 instead of $1400.)
AND I have a credit because the doc didn’t charge me for the last visit!
I should buy a lottery ticket, except I’ve never done it and don’t know how. Anyway, it’s a good day! I’m going to celebrate by scrubbing a floor. (Hey, doggio has his washing machine; I have my scrub brush.)
It’s gotten dark - theoretically, rain is on the way. But Roxy and her mama have gone home, so it’s quiet. I need to tidy the kitchen, then chillage shall ensue.
Odd, BooFae, my father’s second brother is Robert as well.
sari, we have several folks who will walk their dogs past the dog park enclosure to take them on a hike in the rest of the park. Sometimes they’ll swing in on their way back to the car.
ace, consider the sub as a delivery fee for your friend.
nelliethat vacuum cleaner looks like the one that my grandmother used and the one that my mom used in my earliest memories.
Laundry is done, house cleaning is complete, groceries are bought and Nelson has been to the dog park. Tomorrow, I’ll be submitting resumes to several companies that I’ve scoped out (unfortunately, Chewy isn’t taking them yet). One of the ones that I submit is one within walking distance of home. In the afternoon, I’ll go the birthday pool party that was postponed by the rain last weekend. I’m making spiced, roasted nuts to take.
Howdy Y’all! I did the things I needed to do and we went to the hog trough Golden Corral for a late N.O,L./early sup. I has a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for fried fish so I indulged myself. I was good, however, and also had some carrots and turnip greens, cause veggies. Still the fish, hushpuppies, and cheese grits were soooooo good!
We had two good late afternoon rains, both of which happened after we got back to da cave. The rains cooled things off quite a bit as it is only 73 Amurrkin out as I post. BRRR!
Somebody prematurely woke me up from my nap by hornking on the electonics and the computer chair. So I can send you a cat back with your clean laundry if you like.
Sipping a James’ Caipirissima For Breakfast When In The Catskills
Yay for the contact lens, nellie! And happy scrubbing!
at the church I attended when i was in fosterage sunday morning was a full church sunday night not so much …well at the end of sunday night service everyone was standing around doing the norming chatting and a few of bus kids were standing there …and one of the members who was cleaning up offered us a few of the uneaten crackers and grape juice … Boy did he get it … so did we but since I had never been in a church that I had done that I had an excuse …
Wow. That’s horrifying. We’d have to confer, but I think we’re fairly close. 30 miles or less. Now I’m scared to check the AQI. I think the fire is burning east, but let me know if you need to run for it. We’ve got room.
Appreciate the thought, Sunny, but we’d come with a cat and a bird as well.
Far as I can tell, I’m still a quite safe distance from any actual fires, just dealing with breathing stuff that IMO can only loosely be called “air” (much too solid to really qualify). The Princess is going to be a sulky kitty for a few days, because when AQI is even up to yellow, she is not allowed outside, and it’s solidly in the red here.
Have to be logged in to see it. I’m guessing there’s caipirinha in it?
Had a grapefruit soda with reposado tequila last night. Too lazy to figure out the lime juice (have bottled and a real lime).
We got the sucky part of the vacuum cleaner yesterday, so there’ll be an unboxing today, and then it’s going to be put to work. We want to rearrange the one room, and so we’ll do some pre-work and buy something later.
Okay. I’m back. I went and did some measuring, and I think I have a better idea for furniture, that means that we don’t have to dispose of so much stuff, and don’t have to buy so much stuff.
But first we have to go hubby’s band practice room and set up some stuff. Hopefully that won’t take long.
Lunch is chicken, rice, and some sort of sauce, to be determined.
Anybody else got pumpkin in the freezer from last year to use up? I saw pumpkin in the store yesterday, so that means I need to use up the pumpkin puree and cranberries. Bummer. I guess that means there will be pie in the near future.
Pumpkin comes in a can and keeps forever. Sheesh - Frozen pumpkin? Just Let It Go!
Yeah, I heard that song repeatedly on the Toddler music station that I put on for Roxy. Beyond that, I have no idea about its longevity on ice.
Our t-storm lasted about an hour, I think. I fell asleep and I think a loud boom woke me an hour later, but I could have been dreaming. Hard to tell sometimes. However, it isn’t raining, but it’s a muggy 72° hereabouts and I anticipate a day indoors. I decided to put off laundry till Moanday.
I’ll convert the remaining chicken into salad, I’ll clean the smoker, the dishwasher needs to be emptied and refilled, and the basement is a disaster after Hurricane Roxy. But first, FCD wants to go out to breakfast. We’ll leave in an hour or so and be among the first after CB opens at 7. He wants to drive his car - he missed it so!!!
We were both pleasantly surprised when he picked it up - we expected the bill to be around $3K, but it came in under $2K, so huzzah!! Apparently the part wasn’t as much as Paul expected, or the labor was less than he’d thought. Anyway, yay for that! The downside is that I can no longer park smack in the middle of the garage, dammit!
And so the day begins. I’ll surf a bit longer before hitting the shower and donning goin’-out-in-public clothes.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and cloudy, even though TWPTB say it’s partly N.O.S. with a predicted high of 92 with rain later in the day. A day of sloth is on the agenda. Thus it shall be other than grillin’ steaks, makin’ sallit, baked N.O.T., and cheesey garlic bread for sup. We have nowhere we need or want to go.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Good morning all. Let’s see what my day holds: 9:30-10:30 coach 8U Girls soccer; 10:30-11:30 coach 8U boys soccer; 12:00-1:30 referee; 3:00-4:30 coach (and maybe ref) 12U boys soccer. 5;00 collapse at home. Oh, the temperature all day will be in the mid-to-high 80’s…
Somedays I wonder what I am doing…
Ah well, FEDEX is supposed to deliver my refrigerator filters today, so that is something.
Sunny and Seanette, y’all stay safe out there.
OK, need to have some Instant Breakfast (although they call it Breakfast Essentials now) and get dressed for the great outdoors. Take care all.
That’s funny seanette. My big Bro used to live in Marshfield.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and am taking a break from resume submission. Later, I’ll play in the studio and go to a birthday / pool party this afternoon.
Back from breakfast followed by a quick dash into WalMart for some bias tape so I can finish the preggo dress. Looks like I need to start my chores. Yeah, that’s the ticket… the stupid, annoying, adulting ticket. Dammit.
Damn cat woke me much earlier than I wanted having a literal hissy fit while racing back and forth in the bedroom window, which made a lot of noise with the vertical blinds. Seems Her Majesty disapproves of another cat being on the sidewalk outside the window.
Oh, yeah. Coffee. I thought I had another box (8 pounds), but that was a box of paint. I ordered more, and it was supposed to be here Thursday; just in time. When I checked tracking, it said there was a delay and it would be here Monday. Now it’s saying Sunday.
I used the remainder of the small bag of espresso to make a couple of pots Wednesday, Thursday, and the first pot on Friday. Yesterday I had some Trader Joe’s Volcano (their darkest roast, discontinued for years) in a zip-top bag in the cupboard. Just enough for one strong pot. Last night I found a small (12 oz.) vacuum-packed ‘brick’ of coffee and chicory. Having it now.
