Back to the Grindstone- A Post Vacation MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 95 with possible rain this afternoon. Or not. This mornin’ I shall take care of some non church janitor Junior Warden duties over to the church house. We have also decided to do a late N.O,L./early sup at the hog trough Golden Corral. That’s enough plans for the day. I’m gettin’ behind on my sloth and thus must slack up.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother of bothers I shall purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Woe is me!

Happy Firday Y’all!

My mum’s brother was Robert, thus Bob really was my uncle!

Afternoon, mumpers - the weather guessing device says 15C/60F and mostly cloudy today which looks pretty much what the outside world is doing. It’s nice and cool, I have the big back window open for some fresh air but my little office window is shut. Not because it’s cold, but my idiot neighbour’s car is parked outside and the alarm goes off every few minutes. Clearly doesn’t bother him at all but it annoys me so I had to shut the window.

Taters congrats on Polar Poo! Loved the pic you posted yesterday, he is a gorgeous boy.

Today’s payday for me so I have faffed with my accounts spreadsheets and paid what needs paying. This month is car tax month for me so I paid that and we’re legally on the road again. Paid my credit card, shifted money between current and savings accounts, paid the bills that aren’t direct debits, and anything else that needed attention. Solvent again, for a day at least!

Last night we went out to see three bands at an indoor venue without seating/social distancing rules in place. It feel good but weird to do that, we wore masks entering and leaving the venue, and when we went to the bar area but for the rest of it we were standing around chatting to friends. It felt very normal  There weren’t a huge number of people there and everyone tended to be in small groups with a bit of space in between so clearly we’re not quite comfortable with the moshpit yet! Still, felt good to be out and doing something we’ve all missed for 18 months or more.

Time for lunch now, there are two cats sitting on the landing looking at me, that tends to mean they’re waiting for something…

Same here - my mom’s second brother was Bob. Are we twins??? :astonished:

We must be, we’re almost identical

The dog ™ insisted that it was time to get up at 5. So I dutifully opened the doggy door, then went back to sleep-ish for another hour. Apparently I did not fully rehydrate after the golfing yesterday, got some wicked calf cramps this AM. Will attempt to rectify.

Now onward! I foresee much table saw with a dado stack. Huzzah.

Happy Firday!

Happy belated Birthday, Nettie!

Nice morning at the park, a little muggy but not too bad.
The dogs had a good time.
I got there late though, since my son didn’t get out early this morning. Coco pulled in at the same time and we let Echo and Coco off leash to the gate. Only then did I see Bouncy Dog coming down the walkway. Fortunately, I got our dogs in the gate before they saw Bouncy Dog, or Coco and Echo would have run up the walkway for sure.
We don’t know Bouncy Dog’s real name. but he walks by the park every day and the dogs have a little bark fest when he does. He is so cute, and has so much energy, but instead of pulling on the leash he bounces. I think he would love to come into the park. So many dogs walk past the park and you can tell they really want to come in and play. Except Noble Boxer, he struts on by and doesn’t even deign to acknowledge the riffraff in the park.

It was getting pretty hot by the time we got home. I told both dogs to come over and get undressed. Ripple, who usually can’t wait to get undressed, was standing out of reach and wouldn’t come over. I was wondering what he was doing. Standing over the AC vent.

Supposed to be hot all day, with thunderboomers later.

Oopsie, you really want to have trouble loving me?

I don’t like the Beatles.

Bunch of stuff to do today and most of it is going to annoy me.

Morning all. Paper has been retrieved from the driveway. Soccer for the U12 boys this afternoon, and then Saturday I coach three games and referee one, so that should tire me out some. 81F now heading for 91F and about the same tomorrow. August can depart for September real soon now…

Sari, love reading the dog park reports. And you’re right, well-trained Boxers can be stand-offish.

boo fae, I have a 3-month plan I write out and post in my ‘office’, so far I haven’t had too many surprises that have messed up my budget…need to do the Sep-Oct-Nov sheet here this weekend.

swampy, you’ve got me hankering for a Golden Corral visit, but the closest one is about 20 miles away…may do it anyway.

OK, need to consider this and that. All y’all take care.

Why are mornings? I am very glad that today is Friday. Very, very, very glad.

Last night we had pulled chicken, and enfrijoladas with fresh flour tortillas. Tonight I should really roast the tri-tip. For real. I mean it’ll go bad. (Yes, I’m nagging myself and you all get to witness.)

Aidan’s off to the bus in a few minutes and then I’m going back to sleep for a while.

ETA: How do they make dog food that’s so bad that none of my dogs will eat it. The cats won’t eat it. I wonder if it’s just stinky sawdust.

This is my last regular Roxy day. SIL is off Mon and Tues and school starts on Weds. I’ll just pick her up when daughter has to stay late. Well, until January, when I’ll haul Tobias down to pick up Roxy and take them both home. But till then, my days are mine. Huzzah!

Ok, time to play doh…

Good morning, folks.

It’s going to be another nasty day. High of around 94 degrees F (With the same for tomorrow, and Sunday), humiture around 105 degrees F. Just a joy of a day. I’m spending it inside, so, no worries!

I’ve been busy. I got all the dishes washed/dried/put away. I hauled the laundry (Folded! Mostly towels.) to the hallway, and it’s ready to be put away. I’ve got a load of towels in the dryer, and a load of clothes in the washer. So, I’ll be folding laundry/putting it away, AGAIN. Later. MUCH later. Good grief.

I decided that for lunch, I’ll be making homemade subs. I’ll be making a friend of ours one, too. He loves my subs. So, I’ll need to get some bacon going in the oven, and get that much out of the way, so it’ll be ready later, when I put the subs together. I need to remember to get a jar of tomato sauce off the shelves, that I canned the other day, and give it to my friend, who can take it to another friend, when he picks up his sub sammich. Can you tell I’m lazy?! Yep. I am.

Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning everyone.

Happy belated birthday, Nettie!

Even though Polar pooed, I did take him to the vet because I was right about him having a bit of infection. He is on antibiotics for 14 days and they want me to give him his Rymadil twice a day since it’s an anti-inflammatory.

Thanks for the compliment about Polar, boofae. He really is a pretty dog, especially when he’s been raked and brushed. It’s not apparent in the picture, but one of his eyes is blue on the top half. He’s got personality for days and he’s definitely made my life interesting over the last 11 or 12 years.

Yesterday was definitely another crazy workday, and I became annoyed and pretty grumpy for a hot minute because of some purchase card bull****. The PMO audits our credit card accounts and came back at me for missing documentation. The problem was the forms they are asking me to provide are baloney and we were told three months ago during training these forms were not required for this vendor. We are REQUIRED to use this particular vendor for our postage so there IS no alternate source. It’s boiling down to providing almost 10 different forms for documentation, sometimes more. I DO NOT HAVE TIME. If I am using the required source that has ALREADY been determined to be NDAA compliant, all that should be required for documentation is the purchase request/fund certification, the invoice, and proof of payment. Not price reasonableness determination, not alternate vendor source, not the something or other I can’t remember the name of, not the NDAA letter signed by the vendor, not a screen shot of my comments WHICH ARE ALREADY IN THE BANK RECORDS WHEN I RECONCILE THE DAMN PURCHASE THAT THEY SEE WHILE AUDITING THE PURCHASE and not the other BS forms. PANT: PANT. I hate purchasing with a passion. Teams in PMO should do it, their job series make them the experts. And frankly, when the guidance and requirements change every damn month because they don’t know what the hell they’re doing, we’ll never be right anyway. They are inconsistent in the guidance they send out and in fact, their “training” has become total ****shows, causing senior leadership to have many meetings, but nothing has actually been done. Ugh. They can’t hire the replacement for my old position soon enough, I am so ready to turn in my purchase card. I just don’t have the time to even keep up with it because of all the other stuff I need to deal with.

It’s my RDO, but I do have to go upstairs and validate my timecard. I forgot to do that last night when I logged off. I plan to take care of some little chores around the house.

We were going to have Zoe come over for the weekend but decided that since Polar is pretty tender, it would be best to let him heal up some. He wouldn’t bite her, but sometimes dogs that hurt might snap. He’s never snapped, but I don’t want to take any chances. It’s best to let him heal properly. Honestly, Zoe is pretty good about leaving Polar alone. She gives him gentle pats on the back, but she might touch the shaved part which is tender. I am more worried about Adam anyway. He’s INTENSELY curious about Polar and likes to try and grab the fur. Polar becomes a little wall-eyed when that happens and moves away, but again, he hurts and I am not taking chances. We don’t intentionally let Adam grab Polar, but that boy is fast and doesn’t give up on an objective.

We got some good rain yesterday. Both in the morning, and later in the evening. It was so nice! Today is supposed to be partly cloudy with temps in the high 60s, but the weekend is supposed to be bright and sunny with temps near 80.

Dehydration confirmed. I step on a scale every morning, I’ve remarkably consistent for years. Was down 4 lbs today. Time to fill the water bottle.

We are using a new web-based system to ask for reporting at work, which is amazing because the current system crashes my laptop pretty much every single time. But our technology team forgot a key component: sending the production link to the new users. Instead they sent the test site. So I figured it’d make sense for me to play with it before I use it for reals anyway and requested the production site and started playing around in the test version. I keep getting distracted because every single field is auto-populated with the word “pudding.” It makes me start giggling and I have to click away because I’m way too easily amused.

So THAT’s how this day is going to go.

Heaving went OK. I’m weirdly excited for laundry day tomorrow.

What a coincidence! My laundry day is tomorrow, too!

Taters I hope Polar continues to improve.

The air is grey due to the wildfire smoke, and everything smells. We’ve got ash all over everything. I’m not letting the dogs out more than necessary, I don’t care that the air quality is “moderate”. I don’t believe them and it won’t stay that way.

Now to buy some more food that Pixel may or may not eat.

Ditto. Tomorrow is also Grocery Day.

I live such an exciting life.

Daughter came, then just left to take FCD to pick up his car - it’s been in the shop for over a week. Getting parts is freekin’ insane!!! The wait is forever!! But he’s getting it back, so he’s happy.

Chickie is rotissin’, rice and broccoli is staged, waiting to be steamed. I decided to do broc instead of cauliflower, so there’s some color in supper.

And that pretty much sums it up!

The CPA informs me the stuff is in the mail to the IRS, so whew! It’ll take them up to 90 days to respond. Of course. They gave me a mere 24 days to respond to them, so it’s only fair they’d have over three times as long to respond to me.

No rain and no chance of rain for at least the next 7 days. Since Taters got rain, I assume Ma Nature is snubbing us down here. Was it something we said?

I once had an old vacuum cleaner that wasn’t even as good as that. It was a 1930s Electrolux, like this one but without the tools:

If you really care about doggio, you’ll send your laundry his way.

And ditto.

Pack up your dirty laundry! :socks::briefs: I have Doggio’s address and can be bribed to share it!
