Set the oven at 450, so he cooks Swiftly. ![]()
400 for 20 minutes, and I don’t know. This just showed up in my Google feed at work. I think it’s a great idea and it’s what’s for dinner tomorrow. Today was takeout carne adobada, beans and rice from the place on the corner.
Happy Birthday

and happy new job gig!!
Howdy Y’all! Mowage went well today. Three of us got all the major stuff done. A couple of others will do all the trim work tomorrow or Sattidy. I got back to da cave, had Miller Time, got a shower, and chillaxed until sup. All in all not a bad day.
Yay for Polar Pooh!
And now this…
CLEARIN’ THROAT
HAAAPPPYYY BBBIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!

HAAAPPPYYY BBBIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
Also, happy new gig!
Evening, all!
I thought the cake-next-to-user-name meant Doperversary? Does it also mean birthday, or are there two different icons and I just haven’t noticed? (Either way, happy Seanette day!!!)
Work ended with my boss chiding me for doing something that I don’t think was wrong. I know we’ll talk about it tomorrow and everything will be fine, but it really annoyed me and it wasn’t a great note to end the day on. Took a little while to shake it off. I’ve been kind of easily frustrated lately…I definitely need a break. I’m looking forward to Labor Day, and then my mid-Sept trip to NY.
Tonight’s dinner was two frozen Tyson chicken breasts: I hadn’t tried them before, and I didn’t care for them. I wound up letting the dog have half. The steamed corn was good, though. And I have some yummy sugar-free pudding for dessert. And I have a very happy dog. ![]()
Sometimes you make it hard for me to love you… ![]()
That happened, here, too: thunder, some dark clouds, a bit of a wind, but no rain. Cleared up in less than an hour.
That sounds pretty good! Congrats! ![]()
My county elections office sent emails to all of the election officers over the weekend, asking about our availability for November 2. I won’t know what October/November will look like until my surgery is scheduled. But they wanted an answer by this weekend, so I said yes: I figure I’d rather have to “drop out” if I can’t work the election than try to “opt in” later, after some assignments might have been made. If it turns out that I can work it, I want every chance of being assigned to my home precinct (walking distance from my house).
Last night of golf league. I ended $50 up, as we made two birdies for skins and came in tied for the low net score. Tip 10 back to the staff for hosting the after golf banquet, so turned out pretty good. The way it works is they give you a steak and tongs and point you at the grill. 30 odd guys all grilling their own food makes for some interesting byplay. Was verrry hot playing, and hazy. I had sweat dripping down the inside of my glasses. Now ensconced in the house with the AC going.
Yay on polar poo!!
Hippy pappy buthuddady, nettie.
shoe we’re all in this whole mess together. I’ve been feeling down lately, too, so I know what it’s like. I also need the imaginary online friends.
This
means birthday, this means
dopeversary. Or the other way around, ask FCM or nellie, they’ll know.
I have no idea. I don’t even notice stuff like that.
I put the sleeves in the preggo dress. We’ll see if it worked, since the dress is actually sleeveless and the sleeve came from another pattern.
Evening all. Soccer has been practiced with six 7-year old girls. They seemed a rather serious bunch, not much laughter and talking, but given them a few practices to get to know each other and things will probably get livelier. Let the Burger King take care of dinner.
Have ‘army worms’ in my lawn, according to my neighbor (a professional landscaper). Called Tru-Green and they’re going to send someone out to evaluate and tell me how much they are going to rip me off for. I’ll just threaten to leave their sign out on a brown lawn all summer…
Nettie, glad you got work, even if temporary, keeps you out of trouble…

VanGO, only played golf once in my life and swore off it. Congrats on the profit and the steak.
red, Nelson is a nice mix of hyper and feisty pooches.
nellie, it isn;t fun until the last minute…besides, the IRS won;t read it for two more weeks…
flyboy, glad the Murder Hornets won’t be troubling you (unless their relatives are yearning for revenge…)
FCM, sorry to hear about your relative’s loss.
OK, need to unpack the dishwasher so I can put more dirty dishes in it, so all y’all have a good evening and I’ll see you Firday.
I’m Robert’s brother! I do not endorse this recipe.
OK, soggy Mumpers, hand over that rain and nobody gets hurt, see? I’ve got a squirt gun, and I’m not afraid to use it. You shouldn’t be afraid, either, because there’s no water to put in it. Not only did we not get rain, but the SUN CAME OUT without a stitch on, the brazen little hussy.
Got to the P.O. and mailed off the surprises. My daughter loved the flowers. It was an arrangement that looked like a cat with fairy wings. (She has kitties.) It was actually pretty. I went to the gym full of energy, but for some reason, it was a tough workout. Oh, well, I got 'er done.
ask FCM or nellie , they’ll know.
Don’t doubt yourself, Boo, as you are correct. If you hover over the cake, you get a message that tells you what it’s for; otherwise, I wouldn’t know because I’m a techno-idiot.
Who was it who asked whether I’ll see Hamlet the Pig again? Can’t find it now. What a great name! Hamlet the Pig has a brother, whom I shall call Pygmalion next time I go by there. The rooster–should I see him again–shall be called Cogburn.
VanGo, I understood everything but “skin.”

That was me :). Can we hope for pictures of your new buddies?
I almost took photos yesterday. I’ll definitely take some next time I go by and Hamlet and Pygmalion are out!
A “skin” is we got a better score on a single hole than the rest of the field. We birdied 12 and 16, and nobody else did which makes 2 skins. In our league we’re all pretty close in ability, so most holes end up tied.
For the round, we played a scramble, which is you both hit, pick the best one, both hit from there, etc. We shot 30. The worst team shot 35, for 16 teams, so we’re close.

Ah ha! Different icons! I hadn’t seen either one often enough to remember the difference (clearly). And when I post in the evenings it’s from my iPad, which means no mouseover help. But I think I’ve got it now. Thanks, both of you! ![]()
And when I post in the evenings it’s from my iPad, which means no mouseover help.
And any kibitzing you get from me will be iPad-friendly because that is what I use. I don’t even know what mousing over is or hovering.
Interesting. I have a touch enabled laptop, not that I ever use the touch-thingy part, plus an extra monitor. The hover over doesn’t work for me. It used to before we got ported to Discourse (I think that’s the new platform.)
I’m Robert’s brother!
You lie! My husband does not have a brother.
Okay, there might be somebody else named Robert in this world.
Rather busy this week. Went to the office both on Tuesday and Thursday, which means not getting much done because so much time is spent talking to people who I haven’t seen FOREVER. Actually some of the people I saw this week I had not seen in person since before February 2020.
Went to a vegan restaurant yesterday evening and it tasted really good. Unfortunately something did not agree with me (most likely food intolerance, not food poisoning) and I’m still not back to normal on the morning after. If I had to go to the office, I would call in sick.
Today’s excitement is the delivery of a new vacuum cleaner. The brush attachment arrived yesterday, so my husband remarked that it was rather useless unless someone wanted to wrap their lips around it and suck.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
Woke stupid early - in general, I had a marginally bad night, what with bladder urgencies and weird dreams. But I’m up and that’s that. For now. One thing that wouldn’t let me go back to sleep - FCD is supposed to get a MRI, or a CAT scan, or something for his surgeon in Baltimore. He hasn’t made the appointment, and I want him to do it before his knee surgery next week. Dunno if he can get in or not, but he drives me crazy not following thru on things like this. He sometimes fails at adulting!
Over recent months, I’ve gained back about 10# so I’m back to making a serious effort about my food intake. Damn that overactive sweet tooth!!! Especially at grocery checkouts - with their huge displays of chocolate impulse buys!!! I forced myself not to get ice cream last time at Food Lion, and apart from the excess caloric value, turns out I couldn’t have fit it into either freezer.
We need to start eating down on the stuff I’ve stocked up. Part of the problem is I don’t know what I’ve stocked up on. Time to inventory and do some meal planning. It helped that I pulled the whole chickie out of the small freezer. That’ll free up some space. And I think there’s a small chuck roast in there somewhere, so I see pot roast in our future. And lots of bags of veggies…
Tonight will feature rotissed chickie, roasted cauliflower, steamed rice, and I’ll probably open a can of chicken gravy for the rice. That’s a pretty pale meal there… maybe strawberries for dessert?
As for today, I’ll wrangle Roxy from around 8 till her mama gets here after school. I see some pool time. Plus I need to put away all my sewing stuff - it’s taken over the dining room table, which makes supper impossible for the moment. Looks like my day is planned then.
Happy Firday!!
