Because Nobody Else Did, Here's The MMP

Cool dress!

Off to buy a scarf and gloves!

It’s 7:30-ish. So far, I’ve put a 3rd coat of paint on the closet, two coats on the side of the shelves that I couldn’t do last night, tossed a load in the laundry, made and ate breakfast, and, um, here I am. Yay.

When the clothes are ready for the dryer, I should be able to put the shelves in the closet, then I can clear out the bathroom in preparation for installation of the shower surround and sheetrock. Things should move well today, assuming I don’t screw up. I may even make some punkin’ pies since I have the fixins and my sweetie liked them so much. Since I have the regular vice deep-dish pie shells, I should be able to get 3 from a batch.

Super-weird dream last night. We were touring a house that had 6 kitchens, an aircraft hangar, tons of flat-screen TVs, lots of cats, and we had Bernie and Scruffy with us. Oh, and I was in a bathrobe. I’m not sure what it means…

Next MMP is in the can and ready to go. The first idea I had seemed really familiar - because I’d done it already. But I’m pretty sure the one I wrote is fresh. Like any of you care. Anyway,

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Up,. caffeinated, off to work.

Happy Hallowe’en!

This cake-making lark is definitely too much like hard work. Yesterday I made the coating for the gravemarkers and used the rest of it to cover the cake, then crushed up a load of double choc chip cookies to sprinkle over the top. I made the meringue ghosts but wasn’t at all happy with them as they didn’t come out anything like the pic in the recipe I was using.

So this morning I was up bright and early making a second batch, they still didn’t pipe very well because the mix was more runny than I’d hoped, but they look better than yesterday’s attempt. After they were cooked and cooled, I melted some white chocolate to do the writing on the gravemarkers, they came out ok but I have decided that piping letters with melted chocolate is not going to be top of my list of favourite things to do. The ghosties now have little silver eyes stuck on, and all I have left to do is to let everything dry, then assemble the lot when I’ve got the florists’ wire for the floating ghosts. I hope it will all have been worth it in the end!

Great dress, muppet, if the bride doesn’t like it, introduce her to a wet trout.

Your dream made me giggle, FCM.

Fell asleep again eventually and woke up just before 9. Need to get up and get moving.

Coolest factory ever. Looks like science fiction.

Up and at 'em.

Really.

Note to self: Be sure to stick around for second date with doggio. ;)

That is a very pretty dress, Muppet. And I agree with rosie’s sentiment.

I got to see an ooooooold friend yesterday. He did me a favor and helped me out with my car and it was nice to see him again. He’s not had an easy life for the last 8 or 9 years, but he seems to have really put things together again.

Today TVMan and I will assemble ourselves into our smashing halloween costumes. It should be a pretty fun evening. For now I’ve got to muster up the energy to start the usual breakfast. And, yes, I finally remembered the chocolate chips!!!

I’m, here! Happy Halloween!

I have lots to do today, because tomorrow we’re going to a big rock concert with lots of bands. The weather is gorgeous! So the second load of laundry is in the washer, and the first load is in the dryer. I have to plan my weekly menu, and go to the grocery store later. The dogies don’t get to go to the park today. :frowning: Maybe later if I get caught up. It’s just that I have to bathe them when we get home. The park will be a mud puddle, for sure, since we had that huge front come through. I’m a bad mom.

Swampy, that line of storms should be over your house in a few hours! Enjoy!

So have a great day, Mumpers!

Sorry about the unreliable WoSW connection, Nava. :frowning: Hope the uni gets around to fixing them soon.

And yes, it’s a good thing Shopaholic Friend is so reasonable about the bridesmaids’ dresses. Unfortunately, she’s a bit of a control freak when it comes to every other aspect of this wedding… she wouldn’t even let us plan her shower or her stagette! I’m spending more time and money on her wedding than I’ll probably end up spending on my own (assuming The Boy and I ever get around to it). Grrr.

Okay, time to go carve me a jack-o-lantern. It’s wet and yucky outside, but hopefully it’ll clear up by this evening. I’ve got six lbs of candy to give out, and I don’t need any leftovers kicking around the house if I’m going to fit into that dress a month from now. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m awake. Gah! I had such a problem getting to sleep.

See, I’m one of those sad and wretched people who suffers from Benign Fasciculation Syndrome. I’ve had it since I was maybe 8 or 9. BFS is is the tiny, yippy, toothless and declawed little dog of syndromes. What it does is once in a while, it will make a muscle twitch. Usually only a few times in short succession and then it’s done. Once in a while however – 1-3 times a year for me – it won’t go away, often for days at a time. One particular muscle will just twitch incessantly. Most often it’s in an extremity – legs or arms, sometimes feet or hands. In those cases, when going to bed and the muscle is busy fasciculatin’ away, I can often find an awkward but dealable position in which to sleep that keeps the muscle taut, which helps mitigate the twitches and lets me get to sleep. Eyelid twitches aren’t usually a huge deal because fasciculations occur when the muscle is at rest, and closing your eyes requires active muscle participation. They’re mostly annoying when I’m awake.

But recently I’ve had recurring twitches in my head. Literally; one of the jaw muscles that extends up and above my right ear that get flexed when I open my mouth wide. That muscle is always at rest when I’m asleep, and there’s no position I can assume while trying to get to sleep that will keep the muscle busy, and I can’t very well hold open my gob. So before I went to bed it started twitching merrily away, which only became infinitely more irritating when I went to bed. I couldn’t lie on my right side because, with my ear into the pillow and the proximity of the affected muscle, I could hear as well as feel the damn thing twitch. So despite going to bed around 3am (late, I know, but for some reason I didn’t feel the least bit tired) I didn’t actually get to sleep until sometime after 5:30am, which was the last time I looked at the clock.

It is completely benign and has no lasting effects. It’s just annoying as all hell sometimes, and last night it was particularly so. Most everyone experiences fasciculation from time to time, but for most it’s momentary. For me, it can sometimes decide to stick around and piss me off. There’s no medication for it either, but I don’t imagine this is an area of particularly vigorous study in the world of medical research.

Of course, it’s gone now that I’m awake. It had just better not come back tonight or I might be tempted to engage in a little trepanation.

OK, I’m neither cake artist nor photographer…but this is what I’ve been spending my time on!

Cake with gravestones and ghosts!

I like it. What are the ghosts made of?

Hee. That turned out cute, BooFae.

I’ve knit and watched another couple hours of Berlin 24h. And gone out to get a couple of croissants.

Now I’ma go run some errands, then have lunch at the new Mediterranean place, then…work. Ugh.

Back later.

Awesome cake, BooFae!

Pumpkin carving has not yet commenced because I started fiddling with my blog template, and ended up getting sidetracked. I’m fixin’ to get started now, though. Honest. Just as soon as I’ve started a load of laundry and nibble on some lunch.

(At this rate, I’m gonna still be carving when the first trick-or-treater shows up)

I’m hungry. I’m guessing it will be leftovers for lunch. (N.O.L.)

Love the cake, BooFae! It’s really spooooooooooky!!

Here’swhat I’ve been up totoday. I really should do the mudding before I go to bed.

Our "partly cloudy mid-70s has instead been rain rain rain upper 60s rain rain rain. ick. But we went to Bert’s for lunch, so I got a chocolate shake - that helped.

Mmmmm, new Mediterranean place is teh yum. They’re having all you can eat both lunch and dinner today in celebration of their opening. I got lunch to go and it’s really two meals. I’ve tried: rice pilaf with veggies mixed in (tomato, eggplant and maybe grape leaves?), part of a stuffed pepper, hummus and pickled turnip, spinach pie, baklava, tabbouleh. Still have several items left for dinner. It’s a little family-owned place, which makes me happy.

Gotta go find something to drink… And then work, I promise.

Howdy Y’all! It’s the WEEK START!!! YAY!!!

Oh and…

HAPPY HALLOWE’EN!!!

BooFae the cake looks so spoooooooooooky and yummy!

MOOOOOOM did you ever get your butt in that closet? :stuck_out_tongue:

gt, young lady, get to work! :dubious:

MinDude here’s hopin’ for a twitchless night tonight.

Muppet, young lady, have you got that pumpkin carved? It’s not going to carve itself you know. The sooner you get started, the sooner you finish. Now, march in there and get busy! Don’t stomp your feet at me! I said march!

Why, oh why did I ever volunteer to go help out at a trunk or treat thingy at church? Whatever possessed me! I don’t wanna! However, I have ton o’ candy, so I must. Ok, for me it’ll be twuck or treat. Actually, it won’t even be that cause I got handin’ out punch duty. Plus afterwards, we’re goin’ to friends’ house for a little get together. It won’t be a long night though cause I’s tahred and tomorrow is brunch Sunday and I still have to make a sausage and N.O.T. casserole to take.

Thus endeth the whining.

ETA: Rebo I think most of that front is goin’ north of us.

Pumpkin is done.

It looks awesome, in a really goofy sort of way. Photos tomorrow, mostly because I can’t be bothered to deal with them today.

Am now in the process of sorting seeds from pumpkin goo, so that I can make toasted pumpkin seeds. Then I shall don my costume in preparation for the trick-or-treaters (which is nothin’ fancy - just a black dress, black and orange stripey tights, witchy boots and a witch hat).

What time do the kidlets usually head out, anyways? Anyone know? This is my first year handing out candy, as we moved into this house a couple of years ago, and I’ve managed to be out of town both years.

Why don’t ghosts get erections?

'Cuz they’ve got hollow weenies!

What’s scarier, a boy ghost or a girl ghost?

A girl ghost. They have boo-bies.

Off to the Fahr Department to [del]rot kid’s teeth[/del]hand out candy.

Time for my joke - I’m pretty sure I’ve shared it here many times:

What do you get when you goose a ghost?

A handful of sheet!

Three punkin pies are cooling - much will be consumed this evening, I predict. Yum.
