Because Nobody Else Did, Here's The MMP

MMP stands for Monday Morning Post. This series of threads traditionally starts on Mondays. I’m too lazy to cover the history and social traditions, however.

Cue the extra got and squid, guys!

Let me

The MMP stands for Monday Morning Post. A thread that begins each Monday, often, but not always, with a themed OP. It then wanders out of control and through the week we catch up with a bunch regulars, newcomers and look for our favorite no-shows. And nicknames. We get nicknames.

Hippo birdie, Rebo!!!

LiLi, I feel your pain. Been there, been really really tempted to do that… Ariel went through a year-long phase of peeing on couches, beds, pillows, suitcases… and on a couple of occasions, humans.

Has Aerin been checked out by the vet lately? Make sure it’s not medical (peeing can sometimes be the result of a kitty UTI or other health conditions). Otherwise, there’s a good chance she’s just annoyed by the fact that Gnat has displaced her as the Most Important Person In The House… and if that’s the case, then she’d probably be better off being re-homed to a family without kids.

So Boss Guy isn’t here today (he’s working in the 'burbs for the day), and my coworker isn’t around either (no clue where he is). So I guess it’s just me. Joy.

Happy Birthday, Rebo!!!

Ok, I’m awake after my second nap of the day!

I’ve got 4 hours until my doctor appointment. Should I do something productive? Or just sit around and watch old movies?

That would be goat… :smack:

Happy Rebo-Day!!!

It’s Monday! Work today was the usual parade of stoopid questions dressed up as requests for legal advice, along with a number of pointless, press-the-flesh type meetings.

Speaking of TMI, whatever happened to beebs? Just talking of TMI reminds me of him and Mt Penis!

We are now ( :counts back: ) 4 weeks into full-fledged “big girl”, no-nappy life and nearly 10 days without any night time accidents! Woo and Hoo!!!

Happy Birthday Rebo!!

To follow-up on last week’s MMP, I unfortunately did not make it to the Shabat service on Friday night at the temple near here. See, I didn’t have the info at work and sort of thought it was 6:30. Well, it wasn’t. It was 6. Downtown. There was no way I could make it by 6 (and really we were supposed to be there 20 min early) given traffic after work. :frowning: Once I started thinking about it, I really wanted to go. Maybe they’ll do another exchange like this again in the spring. One person who did go from my church said there were about 40 people so it was quite successful. So maybe that’ll make them consider having these exchanges regularly. It’s a great way to learn about other religions. This coming Sunday I am going to the next part of this exchange - high mass at the Basilica. With an All Saint’s Day processional. Should be really neat to see. I’ve never been to mass other than other people’s weddings, which don’t really count in my book. There’s also a Muslim prayer service a couple weeks after that, but it’s on a Friday at 1pm so I have to decide if I want to take time off to go to that. But how often do you get to go to a mosque?

I baked up a storm this weekend. I made my friend Melissa’s caraway-free rye bread, which I still need to work on a bit. I was trying to copy recipes fast when I was at their house so I didn’t write down directions or temperature or time, just the ingredients. I’ve made it twice now, and it’s been undercooked both times. So I need to figure out what temperature it really should be cooked on (obviously slower for longer). But the flavor’s still great. I thought I hated rye bread. Nope, just caraway. She makes it with charnuska/black onion seeds/nigella sativa/kalonji seeds (all the same thing, just known by a whole bunch of different names). It’s really good.

And I made Melissa’s coffee cake. I need to visit her more. I come home with all these cooking/baking ideas! The coffee cake was excellent.

And I made some fudge cupcakes that KT doesn’t like, but I wanted to use up some raspberry syrup that goes into them and the fudge frosting that I made for them last time. The frosting makes enough for 2 batches, which is good if you want to make two batches, but otherwise you have half a batch of frosting left, and what do you do with that?? So the cupcakes are at work today where my coworkers aren’t so picky.

And I knit a bunch and finally posted a bunch of knitting pictures. The first 8 are new pictures.

I’m guessing that’s a rhetorical question and you don’t really want me to answer that?  'Cause the nearest mosque to our house is about 20 seconds walk away and my MIL would love me to take her every Ramadan and whenever else she could talk me into it!

Seriously, go to the mosque if you can - it’s an interesting experience to see how completely different it is from the Christian form of communal worship.

“Happy’s” as appropriate and good morning all.

Kendall, I’m fairly new here myself - I think of the SDMB as the election results from Luton and the MMP as the Silly Party candidate. Its just easier saying MMP than it is Tarquin Fin- tim- lim- bim- whin- bim- lim- bus- stop- F’tang- F’tang- Olè- Biscuitbarrel

Good morning my lovelies and welcome to the noobs!

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY REBO!!!

It is raining cats, dogs and small goats here. They’re calling for serious snow in the mountains. The weather doth truly suck, and by extension, the commute to work.

So, I’m here at work, trying to be a good employee and do my work, and write up my significant contributions for my performance evaluation. I hate writing those damn things.

I also have a couple of additional taskers that I need to take care of this week and that just kind of adds to the pressure.

Finally, I just don’t want to be here. I’m kind of in pre-vacation mode, which is not a good thing because there’s too damn much work here.

Hookay, I guess I better go be a good employee and do some actual work.

On edit: Geeze, I used the word “work” a lot. I need more coffee…

Hugs, smooches, gropes, and backrubs to all!

AAARGH.

I’d like to kill Boss Guy. No wait… mangle him, preferably in a painful and disfiguring sort of way. Because if he has no ears, I might actually understand why he never actually listens to anything I say (actually, scratch that… the info was in an email, so he has no excuse unless he’s blind as well as deaf).

AAAAAARGH.

I’m gonna go eat some N.O.L. Maybe I’ll be less cranky once my blood sugar has been restabilised (and if not, at least I’ll have the energy to tear Boss Guy limb from limb)

It’s not been a real good day here. And this is before my visit to the gynecologist. :frowning:

Aerin’s been doing it for years and years, and she’s fine. She’s just annoyed that we lock her in the basement (space, warm things to sit on, food and litterbox) every night, and is wrecking everything.

Probably more or less since we got her, but since we moved she’s killed five laundry bags, four boxes of kleenex, a mobile, a necklace, several loads of laundry (rewashed four or five times), and a box of fabric. It’s stupid.

<ahem> clearing throat <ahem>

There’s an extra of me?

I’m all full of ughhhh… now. The POD comes next Monday, and a crew of younger, stronger friends come next Saturday to help us fill it, since neither of us have any business trying to move things like pianos and washing machines. (Though I will be the one to put all of the transit bolts in so it doesn’t bash itself to bits internally when it’s moved.)

Exactly 35 days from now, we will have left the house for the last time.

Speaking of missing folks, I checked and Mr Lunch is alive and overworked, so no news there really. He’s also flirty which is good news.

I want to know, is it the anniversary of Rebo’s first birthday or of the second one? Being Reborn and all, you see.

WoSW and other games are being blocked-only-not-really-but-sort’a by the Uni. They claim they don’t know what’s going on, it’s been passed up and they have no idea when will it be solved. It was fine the whole weekend, now it’s blocked again. Drives me up a wall and down a pile of undead, it does… and this is sort of a special week, there’s a game I’d like to complete and if I can’t do it this week I have to wait until next October to try it again. I know it’s a silly thing, but dagnabit, if people living at Uni aren’t supposed to play games they should say so in the contract!

I though you came in 6 packs.

Folks, one must ask correctly:

Cite?

So I’ve been expecting to graduate in three years since roughly freshman year, and I have now verified that indeed, if I pass everything this semester and next semester, I will be out of college in spring 2010. I don’t want to go to grad school yet, especially since I want to work in campaigns and there’s a big one coming up after graduation, but I think it would be helpful a little later on. Anybody here got an in with Robin Carnahan’s campaign or the DSCC? :stuck_out_tongue:

Three comments from my kids:

At breakfast the other day the tower princess wonders “when were pancakes first invented” The she answered her own question “In the morning!”.

Her pumpkin has rotted on the front step and had completely fallen over. She calls it a “slumpkin”

My son: we had a terrible, torrential rainstorm Saturday night and when we awoke on Sunday it was beautiful out- clear, light breeze and sunny. We were all amazed at the difference from the day before. He quipped “it was the storm before the calm”.

Well, I thought they were cute!
