How do you postpone Halloween? Seriously, what happens if you don’t watch the news or whatever?
I don’t know how the rest of the state handles it but whenever something happens that causes a safety problem that the whole town needs to know about, I get a phone call from the Sherrif’s office with an automated message telling me about. I’d guess that the schools have an emergency alert system that they might have used to let all the kids know, since there was no school on Monday. There’s also at least one lighted sign on Main street announcing the postponement of Halloween.
Why is the dog that likes to cuddle the most the one that I’m most allergic to? Good lord, I can’t wait until they get groomed next week.
: waves :
Hugs to all, beerverages to those who want it.
I wanna go home. That is all.
I just made a penguin! And I reconstituted some clay and rolled it out - it’s now in the cabinet. As soon a **FCD **is done in the basement, I’ll put the crab legs on to cook, since we didn’t have lunch. Yay for early dinner!
A certain Sweetie is going to get a major ass kicking when he gets home (assuming I don’t pass out from the exertion.
He drank two of my liters of ginger ale.
I have no more left.
Bastard.
Looks like he gets an extension on his life. He didn’t drink it all (only 3 liters). He just hid 3 of them on the itsy bitsy fridge shelf that neither of us ever uses. Glad to know he’s not insane enough to take ginger ale from a sick person.
Home. YAY!!! Poke chops on the grill. Beerverage bein’ consumed. Life is good.
Rent’s due today and unpaid because Computer Boy hasn’t been paid yet due to a customer who has the money not ponying up with it. It’s a Big Major Customer, so there’s not much they can say to them right now. I’m sure much has been said behind their back, knowing Computer Boss.* I’ll pay part of it Monday when I drag Culinary Boy down to the offices with me. We are already mucho behind.

On a good note, Culinary Boy went to the VA for his headshrinky appointment today and they applied the PTSD stamp to him. He said he probably qualifies for disability too. confetti Finally! A diagnosis! Official recognition!* Help forthcoming!*
*This is the same guy who once said this about our county DA: “I’m not saying Name is crooked, but they’ll have to screw that mf into the ground when he dies.”
This morning, I started my first “art exibit.”
A local pub hangs art by local artists for a month at a time. I hung mine this morning.
I’m hoping to sell some of it, who knows…
trés cool
Well, I ran out half an hour early. I was on the phone with my mom and sitting on the porch with my candy (to minimize all the up and down dizziness) when the mechanic for the Jeep called. Trying to remember how to use call waiting (and hanging up on my mom in the process) coincided with the grabby kid (there’s always one) in the middle of a huge group. One of the girls with him yelled at him for being a pig but there wasn’t much I could do by then. What should have reduced my bowl by 1/4 ended up reducing it by 1/2 and I had to turn out my light 20 minutes later. Phooey. I was having fun.
Best costume - after getting off the phone, I moved inside to make tea. I came to answer a knock and saw 3 teen girls, scantily clad as drag queens. They did a good job. Great makeup, great hair, great outfits, great fake boobs. Then the one on the right said trick or treat and I realized that only 2 of the girls were actually girls. His voice was Patrick Warburtin deep. That, combined with the outfit and his short stature made me laugh myself into a coughing fit. He seemed to appreciate my reaction.
Very cool! What kind of art? I’m assuming paintings but ya know what they say about assuming.
Crab legs were very tasty. So was the day-old punkin pie afterwards. We just got back from buying some corals from a guy whose tank died in the hurricane, and all he salvaged were these corals and some live rock. We’re good on rock, but the corals are different from what we’ve got, and he only wanted $20. Plus he sold us a buttload of fish food for another $10 - it was a worthwhile trek.
Cold and windy out there - wish I’d brought in some firewood - a fire would be nice tonight. Tomorrow, I’ll clear a spot in the garage for wood and ready the designated areas in the yard for the stuff we’re getting on Monday.
Looks like I won’t be getting the job with **FCD **in January, but that’s cool. After we get back from our cruise, I’ll start looking in earnest. Maybe. We’ll see how I feel then.
Yes paintings, landscapes, mostly. There is one concrete face that’s painted. Sorry, I don’t have pictures, my digital camera is in storage, and hubby’s phone camera takes horrid pictures.
Well, I am the proud owner of a picu original made especially for moi in honor of the great Seattle swampfest of '05. See, I really am special!
(pats the S’bear on the head) Yes, you are! You’re our very special bear.
ShortDrum, punishment depends on the type of ginger ale that was hidden. Canada Dry = a slap on the wrist. Vernors = hang 'im high!
I remember that picture Swampy, it was indeed a masterpiece!
Well, I have congestive heart failure. I go for an angiogram the 17th to try to figure out why. The old ticker tested out fine in 2009. Something has obviously happened since then. I hope they can figure out what, and that it’s fixable. If anybody had appendages crossed, please cross them again in 2 weeks. Thanks a bunch.
I’m sending those vibes right now, **Bumba. ** All good thoughts to you and the Mrs.
Holy crap!! Was it nearly six and half years ago when we met at Swampfest?! It somehow doesn’t seem that long ago. The years just seem to fly by! I had a great time meeting the Oregon and Seattle Dopers who came.
The ol’ hubster wants to watch some TV, but there doesn’t seem to be much on, and I’m about all documentaried out at this point.
Well, boo. Despite the scary name, IIRC CHF is pretty treatable, or at least manageable. Hope they find a reasonable regimen for keeping it in check, Bumba.
I’m pretty sure I forgot to tell you how interesting your stories have been, ruble. Good luck with the rest of the clean-up.
Went to Johnny Rockets for dinner and then to Tar-zhey and are now watching the nephew play Uncharted 3.
Happy Friday night all!
Hugs.
