Because some of us are awake already, a Place Holder MMP

Take care of your self Bumba!

I am horrified to admit this but we don’t own a Jenga game swampy so that is out

We ran errands and pick up a few more Christmas gifts. I still have no idea what to get mr ems as a surprise.

herbs the epicenter was apparently about 40 miles east of where we live. We didn’t feel a thing but they were warning people in the area to watch out for potholes and broken water/gas lines etc. I thought I had gotten away from earthquakes when we left Cali and moved into tornado country

I think I might go and take a nap. Yup that is what I am going to do. Later!

Been skimming. Rosie’s sig applied to all.

Today was a very…strange day. Lot of crazy at work. Lot of crazy. Except for the one guy watching NC State trounce UNC who was very nice (despite being a State fan  ).

ShortDrum, have you ever tried ginger beer? It makes ginger ale taste like dishwater. Yum. Aaaaaand now I want ginger beer which I do not have. :frowning:

Oyster stew is started. I’ve never made it before and I don’t like oysters, but my sweetie asked me to make him some. I found a recipe that’s chock full of veggies, which is what he wanted. Some of the recipes were little more than “Boil some oysters in milk, salt and pepper to taste.” I don’t think so. I picked this one. We’ll see how it works.

Since he’s having the stew, I need to figure out what I want for supper. I had leftover bean soup for lunch. Maybe I’ll scramble some eggs…

Speaking of bean soup, once upon a time, I read that adding a pinch of ginger to a bean dish will eliminate the musical and odoriferous side effects. So I tried it. And it seems to be true. Wow! And I didn’t taste the ginger at all.

I’ve got a fire going and it’s taken the chill out of this room. The ceiling fan is blowing up to circulate the warm air around the room. It’s nice not to have to wear a sweater inside.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever had ginger beer. The first time I went to Epcot, there was a soda tasting thing and there was a ginger something or other, I think from Mozambique or Madagascar. I remember thinking that it tasted the way ginger ale SHOULD taste and no one but me liked it. I don’t know what it was or where it was from though. I didn’t see it the second time I went to Epcot but I may have just overlooked it.

I’ve definitely never had alcoholic ginger beer.
I’ve definitely never had candied ginger. Sounds yummy though. My usual cure-all if ginger ale isn’t available is black tea with ground ginger. We call it “dirt tea” and again, I’m the only one who will drink it even when not sick.
Ginger ale is definitely my favorite soda but I only get stabby about sharing when I’m sick. I love it to the point that I don’t keep it in the house when I’m healty because my teeth and weight are bad enough as it is.
I did some searching on Vernors. I want to try it. I’ve never seen it before though and I’m not sure where I’d find it, without buying it online.

The oyster stew has been proclaimed to be very good. And I discovered some leftover sketty sauce in the fridge, so I’m heating some pasta right now. And for some odd reason, I have a hankerin’ for ginger ale…

Get yer own!!!

Candied ginger is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

Of course! I’m like the son of the Most Intresting Man in the World.

Trade you Gordie and a case of Coke Zero for Dipsey.

Hey! I’m a Wolfpack fan!
At a laundramat with 30 working dryers, and 6 working washers. Likker Sto is across the street, though.

Well, I guess I know how I rate… :stuck_out_tongue:

**doggio **- better than 30 washers and 6 dryers.

Pasta has been ingested. I think I’ll toss another log on the fire and assume the knit position, after I do the dishes, of course. Good evening to you all!

Well, ya know…I just opened my last bottle. If I were to share with you, it’d be all flat and gross by the time it got to Marryland.

How long does it generally take for the hands to adjust to knitting/crocheting? I keep trying to crochet but my hands hate it so much that I give up before ever finishing a single scarf. I’m just not coordinated enough to knit but it hurts my hands too.

Feeling a lot better. My ears are annoyingly blocked and I’m still wheezy and lightheaded but that’s about it. Finally have something resembling an appetite for something other than soup and crackers so I had PB&J (a step up from the PB&J sandwich crackers I’ve been eating for a week).

Finally finished last week’s Nutrition assignment and one of the two chapters to read this week is done too. It only took me about 8 hours and two naps to read the chapter on nutrients involved in bone health. Hopefully the next chapter (nutrients in energy metabolism and blood health) goes a bit better. At the very least, it should give me some info for my paper on dietary concerns for blood thinner patients.
:eek:Holy hell that tea was hot! Swallowed it so fast and hard to get it out of my mouth that I actually cleared one of my ears! It’s been sitting there for about 15 minutes. I thought it would have cooled a bit by now. Apparently my tervis cup insulates better than I thought!

This Pirate doesn’t hold that against you. We all have our faults.

(I do not recognize the Charlotte Checkers. NC’s only hockey team is the Hurricanes, so we have that in common. )

Well obviously you should get him a Jenga game mmmmmms. I mean, duh! :p:D

Steak, Friggin’ Good N.O.T. and sallit for dindin. ‘Twas good. Also, I have set all the clocks that don’t set automatically back one hour, includin’ the clocks in the vehicles. Why so early you ask? Well, I was thinkin’ about it so that was the time to do it. Plus also, whilst we were out and about earlier, we went by OYKW’s place and set clocks back so tomorrow he’ll be livin’ in the right time zone.

Now I’m starin’ at teevee.

Considering how angry the other people are at this point, that would casue a riot.

Are you sure you aren’t me? I’ve just come to the point where I don’t go to University Health Services unless I basically have to crawl. Of course, by then it’s tough to get there… Not sure where the happy medium is.

Come to Ohio! I’d say that Vernors is how ginger ale is supposed to taste. Now I’m going to have to go get some.

Well, today was kind of strange. I actually had two shows and the one that I was at, which was supposed to be the bigger and better show, actually had less sales than the one that I sent my friend to. And what’s really funny about it is that I had about 8-10 different things available for sale and she had 4.* :dubious:

*She probably only sold about $20 more, but even so I was surprised.

My wrists and elbows hurt but I successfully crocheted a…thingie. It fits around my head and warms my forehead and ears. Don’t know what it’s called.

Ah, ginger ale. The real stuff. With real ginger in it. Not that Canada Dry shit. Good ginger ale should bite your nose off and make you glad it did so.

sigh

So, appointment with psych went fine. Got more anti-anxiety meds. He’s now concerned that I have a sleep disorder - not really a shocker as I’ve wondered about that for two years now. So phoukaMom is on orders to check on me when she gets up to see if I snore or gasp in my sleep.

In the meantime, I have decided to name my cysts Sebastian (the sebaceous cyst) and Bart (the bartholin gland cyst). I have a gyn appt in just over a week to have Bart looked at. However, once I knew what Bart was, I read up on how to take care of (ie kill) him, and hot baths are recommended. That’s one treatment I can cope with.

Also finally seemed to have gotten the right amount/type of food for the puppy. She’s a wacky sort of dog. If you leave her dry kibble, she ignores it even if she’s starving. If you give her heated up canned food, she snacks a bit, and then loses interest. All along, she’s been too thin and way hyper. Got the refrigerated food and started feeding her 1/4 lb a day and she keeps the kibble and she gets a couple of liver treats and one piece of duck jerky every day.

She is now sleek instead of bony, has a glossy coat, and is no longer nearly so hyper. Go figure.

My guess is that you may be tensing your hands because you’re still figuring out what you’re doing. I catch myself doing that sometimes when I start a new, complex pattern or if I’m trying to get something finished up really fast. Being aware of it and stopping periodically to stretch and flex the hands helps.

Today isn’t starting well. We stayed up late watching a movie last night so that we could begin adjusting to the time change. But I still woke up at least once during the night. Fortunately, the idiot dog held off until 5:30 (which would have been 6:30 yesterday) - I figure I got maybe 5 hours of sleep. Gonna be a long day.

Plus about 3 or so in the morning, **FCD **was up watching TV, then he went to sleep in the guest room. He had mentioned last night that he thought he overdid it in his workshop and he was in a lot of pain. I do sympathize with his back problems, but dammit, he brings it on himself - he won’t ask for help, and I can’t follow him around all day to assist. It’s not like I was doing anything important yesterday. I swear - MEN!

**Kanga **- that’s weird about the puppy not eating. I always assumed finicky critters would eventually eat when they got hungry enough, but apparently not. Glad you figured out what works. Maybe as puppy becomes dog, food will be less of a challenge - kinda like little kids who will only eat one kind of food for every single meal… or not. I’m not a critter doctor, nor do I play one on TV.

Plans for today - the laundry I didn’t do yesterday. And maybe other stuff. It’s too early to sweat the details. I may even go back to bed after I finish reading my funnies. I will have to de-ash the fireplace insert - the logs I banked last night are a pile of ash now. Oh yeah, and I have to get the yard ready for the firewood that’s coming tomorrow. It’ll be stacked in 2 places, and one place needs to be cleared. And I’ll need to cut plastic sheets for both piles. So I’ll get some fresh air today whether I want it or not!

Happy Sunday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 47 degrees Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 73. Maybe this afternoon I should get out the mower and mulch a pile of leaves that has fallen in the front yahd the past two days. Or not. Who knows with me!

Ok, that’s all I got for now. I shall seek out more caffiene and feed rumbly tummy. I need to reheat the corn casserole which is I set out on the counter to room temp up and also purtify for deheathenization. I must get to the church house earlyish to warm up the <snerk> butt <snerk> also. I live such a hard life!

Happy Sunday Y’all!

I’m up, caffeinated, and getting ready for deheathanization. I’ll be tailgating before the hockey game this afternoon.

Happy Sunday!

Are your dogs able to hold their likker?

I got up to deheathenate today, then realized all my duds were in the wash. :smack:
