Bedding down in the MMP

Ha BigKitty good reading there.

No snow here yet.

I’m not complaining.

Lunch break. The office is getting deserted. No snow yet but people are bailing. Apparently the govvies have been told to take off early, but as contractors, we’re not allowed to unless we take vacation time. My boss isn’t here at the moment so I don’t know what I’m supposed to be doing. Hence, lunch.

Live was easier when I was a govvie - I knew all the rules. But whatever - I have a little bit of leave so if I have to burn it, I will. Otherwise, 3 hours to go.

Made it to work, and early at that.

BigKitty, pretty much.

The snow has begun. Spousal unit called and said it’s sticking on the driveway at home. I just told the boss I’m outta here at 1 (10 minutes from now) so that’s that.

Hope the forecasts are all blown out of proportion…

My favorite part: “It looks like Sherman’s March on the interstate.”

Not if you’re getting what I’m getting. Get your French toast fixin’s ready.

53 degrees right now, looks to be off-and-on rainy today. Ugh. The “drivers” in this area have a tendency to lose their alleged minds when it rains, and they really don’t have a lot to lose to begin with.

Having some trouble getting the brain in gear, but I still have over an hour before I have to be on the bus (could have ridden in with DH, but didn’t really want to hang out in the breakroom for over two hours before my shift). At least the cat’s in a relatively affectionate mood.

I am home. What a trip? Blinding rain with lots of traffic. I am a tad bit jealous of all you getting snow. I want snow but not the cold that goes with it.

Everyone please be safe, warm and stay inside if you can. No need of being out if you don’t have to be. And enjoy all that French Toast!

P something Chang honey chicken for lunch. PD? PF? PDQ Chang?
Rather good. I added vegetables, garlic and ginger.

Howdy Y’all! I’ve been bzzy with irkstuff all day. Gettin’ a lot of little stuff done and catchin’ up on the eternal, ever present, and [del]useless[/del] ever timely and oh so imformative trainin’. Also, the corned beast is done, wrapped in foil and in da fridge to chill. In a while I shall slice it up and start with the N.O.T. and carrots. Cabbage goes in at the very last. I shall also warm up the beast with some of the liquid and then put it in the convection oven on warm. I shall also bake up some frozen rolls. At some point I shall also make brownies, cause, well, brownies.

The rain is gone and ‘tis sunny out but windy. Tomorrow promises to be cold and windy. I believe it cause the wind is makin’ it cooler out.

All we have here is rain, but it’s 37F and there is a chance of snow later this afternoon and evening, which is all the schools and daycares needed to shart shutting up shop about noon.
Catamount, it looks like what was left after Sherman’s men marched through (actually, North Carolina got off relatively easy, compared to their neighbors to the South, which many of Sherman’s men (and perhaps Sherman himself) blamed for the Civil War).

Happy birthday big kitty!

I called the weather hotline at irk this morning and was told tha we were working scheduled hours. It was only raining, so I went in. It was a ghost town. Then at nine o’clock, they dismissed us. Coming home took an hour and a half because by then, the snow had begun in ernest. We now have a couple of inches and are shut down.

Snow day!

Hey’all. Happy Birthday BigKitty!

Just checking in on the boards for a moment. I don’t have a lot of free time today.

I went to a comedy show last night, performed by my favourite comedian. Good times.

“When we are through with them, the only place where a Southern accent will be spoken is in hell!” No, wait, that was Admiral Halsey. :dubious:

I hereby declare it the weekend. Heck, I coulda done that at noon. None of the federal or state PTB have been at irk all afternoon due to shut down because of weather. However, bein’ the trooper that I am, I remained on task. Until now. :: Opens Beerverage ::

Cheers Swampy. I am just checking in here to make sure Mmmmmooooommm made it home safely.

It took me nearly 2 hours to do my 40-minute commute. No accidents, just slow going because of lots of traffic plus accumulation on the road. Then I had to turn around and take **FCD **to pick up the truck. So we’re both home with both vehicles and we won’t be leaving before Sunday for sure. It’s coming down thick and steadily - I’ll have to take some pics.

There’s an unfortunate lack of ice cream in this house, but I do have the makin’s for a cake, which I think I’ll do tomorrow. Because I’m worth it!

So, in August then? That’s pretty hellish in the South.

I ventured to the store to pick up some hot chocolate and creme horns. There were no creme horns so I allowed myself to get a box of Star Crunch. That’s one of the things I can’t control myself around, but it’s my birthday and it’s been snowing all day long so I may have some. :stuck_out_tongue:

Snow just started here.

We’ll see what it amounts to.

Still haven’t answered my ‘friend’, guess I should.

I need to load the dishwasher though, and it probably will be full enough to run.

I do miss snow. Stay safe everyone.

Ruble - can you share any recommendations? I need a cleaver and would love to hear from an expert.

While I’m at it, does anyone have any advice to share on enameled cast iron? Le Creuset is the brand I’ve heard of, but it’s really (really) expensive.

Happy Birthday BigKitty!
