Bedding down in the MMP

Home at last! But I’ll have to go out and meet **FCD **at our car guy’s shop. The truck has had a persistent squeal, and replacing the belt and the tensioner has done nothing. So back it goes, since he’s off tomorrow.

I had a frustratingly busy day - a major brain fart messed up some of what I was doing. I’ve still got one issue that I’ll figure out tomorrow. Thankfully, it’s better than being idle.

I’m thinking supper will involve the leftover rotissed chickie - maybe chickie salad? We shall see after I pick up my sweetie.

What cut of beef do you folks use in stews?

A cooking website says

I entered a caption in the Kitsch Bitsch’s weekly contest.
“Aunt Mabel wanted to pepper up her romance with Uncle Wally”
Please give me lots of likes so that I can get into the finals

National German Chocolate Cake Day is tomorrow.

I went out this morning with $102 in my pocket. I came home with $13 and quite the haul of books, fancy scented soaps, and some neat abstract watercolor cards. Support local businesses! I also supported a busker outside the Mast General Store who sang me a song.

The parking lots looked like I-85 during rush hour. I’m inside battening down any loose hatches I find. They’re predicting snow accumulations between nonexistent and OMGTHEWORLDISCOMINGTOANEND! tomorrow.

Remind me to tell you sometime about The Adventures of Irish Storyteller and the Beat-Up Accords.

If I’m in a hurry or lazy, I use the “stew beef” from the grocery store. Otherwise, I normally use chuck.

Lol, all that and I didn’t say what I most wanted to:

People do get approved, some sooner, some later. It sucks when it’s later.

I believe you will get approved.

I’m not sure anybody really knows why some people get right in while others have to fight.

There is assistance out there.

Our doc says it’s a vestige of Reagan-era politics that about 80% of all new SS filings are summarily deep-sixed. No idea if that’s true or not, but I don’t know anyone that’s had an easy time with it. Even a former neighbor who’s lost part of his feet had his claim dragged out to the ALJ hearing. At least for him, when the judge saw him wobble in, he got a bench disposition (immediate and favorable ruling). DH says when he eventually gets his day in court, so to speak, he’s going to pull out his central line and wave it at the judge.

Meanwhile, we have an updated “Yes, this guy really is in terrible shape” form from our doc listing two two cancers, severe anemia, etc. Maybe, if we’re lucky, someone at SS will actually look at it. Just hope it’s soon as we’re in deep doo-doo, financially speaking, due to lack of income.

Made it home from shopping. As I was putting stuff away, then I remember some things I need.

I had one of my Bertolli dinners for dinner. Chicken something or another, actually pretty good. I bought too much stuff and we needed more room in the freezer.

Made a big stack of pancakes for Sah-son. He said they were tasteless. Next time I’ll fancy them up some with some vanilla and sugar. I don’t really like pancakes much, because* they* are basically tasteless.

I parked the truck out front and ran into the neighbor I like, so we got to chat a bit. It took a while to figure out what was in the parking spot in front of my house - finally figured out it is salt. I hope whoever put it there doesn’t think it is going to hold the spot for them. The neighbor said it’s been there and she was trying to figure out what it was.

I got a text from the friend (the one I lost it with a while back). I don’t even know what to say to her.

Dindin has been ingested. YUM! 'Tis rainy, icky, and slightly coolish out so sketties 'n meatballs hit the spot.

gotti here’s hopin’ DH’s claim gets settled before ALJ time.

flytrap I use a chuck roast. I’ve gone the stew beef route when it’s on sale but still end up chunkin’ it into smaller pieces. Thus I prefer to use a chuck roast and chunk it all up myself.

I worked, I came home, I walked Gordie. Looks like I’ll be running a short staffed store in bad weather. Seems like old times.

Liked!

flytrap, I use leftover pot roast or cut up a chuck steak.

Well, the Physical didn’t happen. I was on time and all, filled out the paperwork and the nurse (or at least the lady who takes the BP/Blood/Urine/History) was ready to start–and found out it has been less than one full year since my last physical, and my insurance won’t pay for a second one in a calendar year.

So now I’m on for 0800 on 8 February (nothing to eat after 10PM the night before). Not a big deal, I’m in good health (outside of being overweight, probably high blood pressure and high colesterol, I’m fine…) but just a little irritant in a wet, cold, overcast, blurfy kind of day.

Sari, I usually toss some cinnamon and/or nutmeg in my pancakes for the flavor.

Back to yet another co-irker hat. There’s a twist to this one: it’s for a guy so I’m not making the swirl beret. He’s getting a beanie.

Sounds like someone needs to learn to make his own.

Killing time on campus before class. Payday is good and bad at the same time. Good to have money in the account, bad to see how fast bills eat it.

I dug a smallish brisket outta da freezer to thaw. Since I irk from home tomorrow and have the time to do so, Ima make corned beast ‘n cabbage with N.O.T. and carrots for dindin. YUM! A good comfort food meal for what will be a dreary, coolish, rainy day. I might even make brownies. I’d make a German chawklit cake ‘cept I don’t have all the ingredients and I ain’t goin’ to the sto’.

MetalMouse that kinda sucks.

I want brownies! Oh, well…

Like others, in a rush I use what the store sells as “stew beef”.

Given my druthers, I work it from the short loin somewhere.

And on a semi-related note MY NEW CLEAVER CAME TODAY!!! This probably doesn’t surprise anyone much but I collect meat cleavers. I scored a really nice one from eBay. Bid a little more than I wanted but its from a maker I really like. I have some from that company over a hundred year range (1850-1950) and just really love them.

Making Tex-Mex red beans and rice with chicken. I’ll save some ofr tomorrow’s dinner.

Ruble, you collect cleavers? Do you have Wally and The Beaver yet?

It puts the lotion on it’s skin,
or it gets the hose again!
Holy Shit. :dubious:

“Ward, I think you are being too hard on the Beaver.” :dubious:
