Begorra! A St. Paddy's Day MMP

Blurf.

I know where I’ve been, but not where I’m going…

Actually, I’m going to class in a bit. I’ll see if they let me loose and unsupervised on the computers this time.

Hi everyone! Yes, still alive, just crazy busy. Have been trying to keep up, at least, but not succeeding very well. Hopefully things will be quieter in the next few weeks. Saw the peach cobbler recipe; will add to blog and use for a potluck I’m going to tomorrow.

rosie’s sig to all!

Hugs.

I am very disgruntled and aggravated and AAAAAUUUURRRGGGGGGHHHHH!!!

landlord of apartment down the hall has decided “no pets”

Morning, everyone. I’s tahred. For no good reason, really. Roomie and I sat on separate corners of the couch and read alllllll night last night. I don’t think we said more than five words to each other that didn’t involve dinner.

I got a text from my cousin last night–one I hadn’t seen in about five years until the wedding this summer–asking me to find my mom and get her to call her mom. Seems my maternal grandmother is fading faster than expected, and my aunt (a former RN and nursing home administrator–see, I tied it in!!) doesn’t think she’s got a whole day left. So Mom and Dad are getting on a plane to Pittsburgh today and hoping they make it in time.

I’m feeling kind of guilty about the whole thing. I probably haven’t seen my grandmother in almost ten years, and she was never much of a sweet old grandma (my paternal grandmother, on the other hand, is how they decided on the stereotype). As a result, I’m kind of meh about her imminent passing. I saw her more often when I was a kid and they lived closer, but I don’t think I’ve spent more than ten consecutive minutes talking to her since junior high. I’m sure I’ll be sad about it later, but right now the eventual memorial service is just one more thing I have to do in an endless string of Things I Have To Do, and I feel like a terrible person.

A former girlfriend of mine from high school has a doctorate in Nursing. I was never sure how she was to be addressed - Nurse Formergirlfriend or Dr. Formergirlfriend.

Just a joke. Honest. I realize that the doctorate takes precedent. I just called her Formergirlfriend whenever I saw her.

And Drae sorry to hear about your grandmother. Pittsburgh seems to be the place for them. A couple of years ago, mt wife and I went up to Niagara Falls and to various places in New York. I had heard that my grandmother was hospitalized while we were in Canada, so we cut the trip short and drove to the 'burgh. Got to see her just in time, as it turned out.

Happy Firday!

It’s a sunny 28 degrees with a projected high of 58. Yesterday was cold, did y’all miss me?
Woke up to no internet and had to rush out anyway to look at a house.
I was a little bummed though because the agent only had time to look at one. If I am going to drive 90 minutes to look at houses I want to look at more than one.
Anyway, I picked up my friend and we made a day of it, drove around and looked at the outside of some other houses and found a new place to try for lunch.

Sah-son fixed the internet connection. I’m tired, I get woke early every am by the Hounds from Hell thundering past my door.

So the house I looked at yesterday has everything i want, except a yard. I can live with the no front yard but the back yard is parking area for one car and the rest is closed in by a small brick wall and is gravel. I though I could take up the grave and plant grass, then I realized the neighbors deck shades the entire yard so probably nothing will grow.
Sah-son would love it, no grass to cut.

I came into irk early & retrieved my pants before cow-orker got in. Embarrassment averted! Phew!

Morning, I’m up and caffeinated.

Welcome, Ace!

**Spidey **- let me get this straight - you went home last night without pants. Didn’t your butt get cold??

I am now showered, dressed in grubbies, and waiting for **FCD **to finish his breakfast so I can start the worst part of my task. Two base cabinets in particular are dreaded - one is a double-wide with a single door - the cabinet extends into the corner, so I’ll have to somehow get into it to clean the far end. The other is a corner cabinet, but the opening is one of those corner doors, so it’s kinda narrow. I’m not narrow. Much cussing will ensue. The others are no biggie, altho there’s a lot of stuff under the sink that I don’t want to deal with. Oh well…

If I have any energy left after that chore, I’ll clean the countertops and the small appliances that live thereon. I might even wash the kitchen window - inside at least. We’ll see how that pans out.

Man, retirement is hard work!

Hey Jim, where are you going on your tour?

Two cabinets done, 6 to go. I am not having fun. :stuck_out_tongue:

I got changed into warmups to go to Training Site[sup]TM[/sup] as Training Site[sup]TM[/sup] has no available locker room facilities. What I left at irk was the nice pants I was wearing at irk…over the back of someone else’s chair.

[ul][li]Spritz some cleaner stuff, [/li][li]throw down a towel, [/li][li]throw a treat into the rear corner, [/li][li]call Higgs. :D[/li][/ul]

LOL! I think that would work.

Here’s hoping the car repair ordeal concludes today. Driving to work in the rental, hoping I get to drive MY car home.

That’s genius. I wish Winchester could fit into our corner cabinet. And alas, the cat is unmotivated by treats.

Thanks for the welcomes!

Spidey, don’t be leavin’ your pants laying around. People will talk.

FCM, wow. You’re working really hard for a retired gal! Oh, and the peach cobbler recipe looks wonderful! I’ll be making a mixed berry cobbler today, and I may have to try it.

Things here are movin’ along. We’re going to fire up the smoker tomorrow, and toss in a turkey breast, some Cornish hens, and a slab of brisket, which I hope I can turn into pastrami. So, I got the turkey and hens out of the brine, and they’re resting in the fridge. I got the beef all rubbed, wrapped, and it’s resting in the fridge, as well. I wanted to get this stuff smoked tomorrow, and we’ll have a very nice dinner. My 52nd birthday is Sunday, and I wanted to do it all then, but my husband, an OTR truck driver, will probably have to leave that day, and we might as well do it on Saturday, for that reason. We may, or may not, invite his parents over. Depending on how the all meat turns out.

Next on my agenda, is switching out the laundry from the washer to the dryer, making the cobbler, and vacuuming the floors. I think I’m done after that. I hope so, anyway. I’m tired, already.

Nothing exciting ever happens around here, which I guess I should be thankful for. Right?!

And the first corner cabinet from hell is done… Next stop - under the sink. rah.

Lunch break. One more corner cabinet from hell, then 3 relatively easy ones - 2 are all drawers, but one houses the junk drawer, so there’s that.

Lunch is the last of the pulled poke. Wish I had some chips to go on the side. Oh well…

Nap time.
I feel like today is Saturday.

And I am DONE with the cabinets!!! AT LAST!!! My poor back is so achy from all the bending and crawling and reaching and lifting. My hands reek of ammonia. But cabinets are clean, inside and out, and organized. I’m going to rest a bit before tackling the counters. Or I’ll deal with that tomorrow.

For now, I need a break. I can’t imagine if my kitchen was bigger than 12X12!!
