Is Daniel Tosh’s stand-up any good? I’ve been watching his show lately and have laughed quite a bit.
Louis CK, Patton Oswalt, Greg Giraldo. Paul F. Tompkins, Nick Kroll and Arj Barker are good, but I don’t know that they have DVDs out.
I don’t know why but Tosh 2.0 is funny yet in his stand up he just comes across as a dick.
*Russell Brand in New York City *is on Netflix’s instant list. It’s nice to see an education in literature not go to waste.
Yeah, but a funny dick.
“Let’s face it, if you’re a Vin Diesel fan you shouldn’t be here watching me. You should be at home coloring.”
That kills me every time I hear it, and I am a Vin Diesel fan.
I agree wholeheartedly with the recommendations for Gaffigan, Oswalt, Hedberg, Birbiglia, and Russel Brand. I loathe Lewis Black (hey, why don’t you try shouting a lot like you’re angry!) and Louis CK and Margaret Cho is lame.
I’ll add Pablo Francisco.
I’m a Chris Titus fan myself. Especially of “Love is Evol”.
Lewis Black’s "Black on Broadway, was the tightest and funniest standup in years.
The late, great Robert Schimmel, if you like your comedy dirty.
If you prefer your comedy angry, Bill Burr.
I don’t think either of them has any DVDs though.
Agreed! The others named are good, but these guys are epic. They’re in their own league.
Izzard’s dressed to kill is very good too, but I originally saw it all the way back in 99. Nothing of his that I’ve seen since then has come close to it.
Everyone on my stream of consciousness list has already mentioned except for Katt Williams, Kathleen Madigan, and Christian Finnegan.
I’m quite partial to Andrew Maxwell.

I can fully admit that I was Netflixing some comedians and saw Eddie Izzard on there…and got his “Full Circle” special solely on the recommendations of this board…and I was not disappointed.
I fully agree with Izzard.
Also: Gaffigan, Iglasias, and Galifinakis.
Ya know…I didn’t know this about him but upon hearing him talk it makes a lot of sense. He is always very well spoken whenever he does a talk show circuit, I have always been impressed.
Izzard or Hedberg.
Stewart Lee, here’s a snippet
Lots of good names mentioned here (I especially agree with Louis CK, Mitch Hedberg, and Jim Gaffigan). I’d add Jim Jeffries. His HBO special “I Swear to God” is one of the funniest acts I’ve ever seen. He’s also got another one, “Alcoholocaust” coming out sometime soon. Not for the faint of heart.
