I, of course, hate the tickling sensation when a hair grows enough to brush against a nasal wall, but how best to deal with it?
I’ve used cuticle scissors, but they can poke if you’re not careful, and I’d hate to introduce fungus or anything else nasty into my bloodstream. I’ve also used those dedicated trimmers with circular heads, which are much safer, but they never seem to cut the specific problem hairs; the scissors are light years better at that.
Any other options, or is my best one one of those?
I don’t know the exact kit, but I got one of those trimmer/shaver kits for Christmas from Ms. Cups because I have a huge nose hair problem (figuratively and literally)
It comes with a little trimmer guy that works wonderfully. If you’re interested I can look when I get home from work and find the brand
I use the scissors on the small swiss army knife I carry in my pocket - the same one I use to trim my finger nails. I’m a low tech kinda guy when it comes to grooming…
I have a pair at work, here…let’s see…
**Microtouch. ** Get them at Walmart for about 10 bucks. Work blamed well. Can work on ears, too.
Conair also has a great product for this. Go to the Hair Care section of a Walmart Supercenter. Next to the hair clippers, you should find these. Totally awesome.
Oops, WM has them for under 7 dollars, and ebay about the same.
There are nose hair scissors as well, which are like cuticle scissors, but not so pointy. I personally prefer the electric trimmers, but if you like the results of a scissors combined with a reduced possibility of stabbing yourself in the brain, then you could give these a try.
That’s why the electric ones are (IMO) better, because they go fast, and you only need one hand to hold them, while you (as CandidGamera said) use the other hand to manipulate your nose around to get the tough spots.
Nose hair scissors also work quite well, although they are slower.
Grab a nose hair with your fingers. Twist it along the shaft by rolling it between your thumb and fingers. Keep doing so back and forth as quick as you can. Eventually the hair breaks off.
I tried one once and the end result was that all the remaining bristles were horribly bristly. It was like walking around with a nose-full of pincushions.
I do the grab-with-fingers-and-pull thing, when I’m at home alone and nobody is looking. Yes, it’s sharply but briefly [del]painful[/del] stimulating but this has it’s advantages. It causes my eyes to water heavily, which helps wash any dust or specks therefrom. (I live in a very dusty environment.)
Yes, it does leave additional little holes in my brain, and some intelligence leaks out, but my intelligence coagulates quickly and plugs up the holes. Still, it helps lower the intelligence pressure inside my cranium, even if just a little bit, so I guess that’s helpful too.
