I don’t think she does, though. Her appeal to women goes little further than being an important woman and being pro-choice.
I tend to agree with this.
Actually, what worries me is that Clinton’s escapades are a positive in the minds of a certain kind of Democrat. I’m worried about a party where Bill Clinton is seen as…um…
…that.

DADT was a moderately big deal for its time, but ending AFDC probably negates it for me.
Didn’t Clinton also sign off on gutting government research and auditing agencies, or am I conflating “Reinventing Government” with something later?
I know he signed off on worsening the physician shortage in the USA.
Whatever manic state I was in when I started this thread, the larger point nagging at me is a little different than what adaher’s saying.
In the end, what’s really scary is not that Bill Clinton is such a randy billy goat that it wrecks Democrats (as nice as that would be to believe), but that he’s seen an electoral boon by many pundits and partisans alike. It scares me that Democrats now act like we should all remember him fondly, and endorse his brand of politics.
There’s a certain sort of man who thinks of Bill Clinton as a sort of political Hugh Hefner. A “stud” to be admired. But he was a mediocre President and a ridiculous egotist.
He ended his Presidency with a very high approval rating. He finished with a Gallup poll approval rating of 65%, higher than that of every other departing president measured since Harry Truman.
Bill Clinton’s penis isn’t in the White House yet, there’s much work to be done! It’ll have to spend the upcoming months in dogged campaign work, polling the electorate and such.
Wait, is it emails? Or Benghazi? No, that was last month. Oh, I’ll just wait til Friday… I know it’s Lewinsky for the month of January. Is February still rape month? And does it still have an R in the middle of it? When does Hilary’s fake intern tell all to the tabloids? I can’t keep up; how do those neo-cons do it?
And Bill Clinton is such a paragon of virtue in this regard?
Besides, I’ve never sexually harassed anyone, nor have I used my power(what little I had, but I did have some) to get in a girl’s pants, I haven’t betrayed my wife.
However, it is also true that I haven’t balanced the federal budget, stopped a genocide in Kosovo, freed Haiti from dictatorship, reformed welfare, or signed numerous free trade agreements which contributed to lifting a billion people out of poverty.
But then again, it wouldn’t be fair to compare me, a regular joe, to a President on career accomplishments. However, if you want to compare me to Bill Clinton as a man, I’ll take that challenge in a heartbeat. I dare say that 90% of posters in this thread who are male are better men than Bill Clinton and pretty much all of the women in this thread are better people than Bill Clinton.
He’s an electoral boon(sometimes), because he was a great President. Despite my disgust for Bill Clinton the man, when Bill Clinton the elder statesman speaks on issues, I listen. He’s one of the most brilliant men to ever be President(smarter even than Obama), one of the best explainers to ever be President(even a better communicator than Reagan), and despite his personal moral failings, believed in good government.
I’ve said before that Hillary Clinton will probably make a decent President if she wins. I’m hoping for a REpublican to win in 2016, but sometimes the problems with the GOP make it hard to root for them. But let’s not make her or her husband into something they are not. Us political junkies tend to often equate a person’s political views with their human decency. But they are not the same. Don’t try to make the Clintons into something they are not. Their skill at politics and governance is remarkable, almost savant-like, given their personal integrity issues. But those issues are real, and just as remarkable as their virtues.
Bullshit. I would bet you have never had a young intern throwing themselves at you because you are not a powerful and successful person. Lets have you post again when you have successfully resisted such a temptation. Sorry that will never happen because you are a bitter loser who only makes an obsession out of democrats getting some pussy because you haven’t been laid in the last three decades.
His employer had no such option, although to some extent Al Gore took the punishment for him. And his wife, since avoiding drama was part of Obama’s argument in 2008. His wife seems likely to continue to pay for his behavior, although her own ethical shortcomings are a bigger problem for her.
PAYGO was first passed in 1990, and there was the dotcom boom. If he had run a deficit, he might have had to try at it.
Yes, he did his job. For a President of the United States of America, he was mediocre. And have I mentioned the mercenaries in Kosovo we sent in and protected from our laws and from local laws? They reportedly got up to some scary stuff, like taking slaves. Bill Clinton didn’t handle military interventions particularly well.
You mean, sold out a plank of the Great Society to Newt Gingrich? Yes, he governed to the right of Nixon and Reagan economically, but we’re talking about the Democratic nomination. And that call has since been criticized by one of his then-Cabinet officers.
Again, not something that the country needed him in specific to do. Is there something about Bob Dole, G. H. W. Bush, Jerry Brown, or Bob Kerrey that would have prevented them from negotiating and signing treaties?
I said mediocre and I stand by that. As a Democrat, he was worse than mediocre.
You can believe that all you want, but not many people agree with you. As I’ve pointed out above his approval rating was over 60 percent when he left office, eg AFTER he was impeached. Getting a blow job didn’t actually hurt his approval rating, it actually increased it.
Well, that had more to do with the Republican overreach. He lost a lot of respect from the public and his personal favorability dropped. If the Republicans had limited themselves to a censure motion from the start things would have played out better for them.
No it didn’t. His approval rating was at an all time high immediately after the impeachment. And its nothing to do with overreach, its to do with the fact that there was a strong economy a balanced budget and no pointless never ending wars. The majority of American people remember the Clinton years fondly and they will welcome his Penis back to the White House.
Exactly, that proves my point. The average American doesn’t give a shit about politicians getting some action on the side. They care about the job they do, rightly so.
