In the video, Patton is seen telling Kennedy that one of his carry-on bags is too big to fit through the X-ray machine.** He then grabs one of his smaller bags and attempts to rush through the metal detector**, but she blocks his path.
As he tries to pass, he grabs her shoulder and appears to give her a quick shove, shaking the arch of the metal detector.

You’re right. It’s unfortunate that she made it a story. Otherwise, it could have been handled quietly between her, the cop and the cop’s boss. She’s an idiot.

If there’s any comparison to be made, it’s just to notice that sometimes people who are in a position of authority get a sense of entitlement and feel that the rules don’t apply to them. But, really, you shouldn’t call the Capitol Police “rent-a-cops”. They’re a federal law enforcement agency, over 175 years old, and a number of the Capitol Police have died in the line of duty, most recently Jacob Chestnut and John Gibson, who were shot in 1998 by a gunman who managed to get into the Capitol building.
It’s true that what Rep. McKinney was accused to do pales in comparison with what Tom Delay was accused to do, but please don’t insult the Capitol Police officers who were just doing their jobs and trying to keep the Capitol secure.
Hell, I’d watch it once. It’d have to be better than Deal or No Deal.

My feelings about what should happen to former Rep. Delay aside, your confidence seems to indicate that he has already been tried and convicted. I must’ve missed that. Cite?
The Congresswoman in question has done a bit more than assaulting a Capitol officer, however I’ll grant that she’s no Delay. In addition to his [strike]illegal[/strike] questionable doings, Delay was a bully in his role on the Appropriations committee, Democratic process be damned. While I don’t remember his Democratic counterparts from when Democrats controlled the House, I certainly didn’t hear about their actions to the extent I hear about Delay’s.
Is that even possible?
