Yes, some times it doesn’t connect to the server even though other sites are fine.
As long as this thread is active again, I never stopped having issues with “New Posts” Usually the first time I hit it when I’m here I’ll get the message that says I have to wait two minutes (or some amount of seconds less then two minutes) even though I know I haven’t touched it and the time I have to wait (say 110 seconds) isn’t right for hitting it twice by accident. I also know that I hadn’t done a search. It happens several times a day, but, like I said, it’s usually the first time I hit the New Posts button when I’m here, then it’s fine until later on in the day. Also, it happens at home and at work. (Both FF/Windows)
Okay, I see we’re back up. Right after I made that last post, the Board went down again and stayed down. I went to do other things and just now returned to find it back.
I’ve had some slowness when opening the fora message lists. Tonight’s the worst it’s been for a while - it took maybe 30 seconds for some of the tabs to open. I typically open tabs for ATMB, CS, GQ, IMHO, and MPSIMS. Only GQ opened right away - the rest sat and spun for a while.
ETA: This post took ~40 seconds to register after I clicked “post.” More spinning.

The Board seems to be back up to speed now. But unfortunately, the main Straight Dope website will not call up for me.
EDIT: Whoops! Spoke too soon. After several minutes churning away, it finally popped open while I was posting this. But it does seem to take several minutes to open any link on the page.
Just called up the front page of the site, no problems.

This is very odd. I just tried opening the Straight Dope page in another tab, and again it is churning away while it decides to open.
EDIT: Trying to time it. After about three minutes, the Straight Dope banner and side buttons – Home, Message Boards etc – appear, but it’s still churning before showing the rest of the page.
Okay, and after about two more minutes – five minutes in all – the rest of the page showed up. Again, the Board is working fine. As is the rest of the Internet.
EDIT: Well, not quite the rest of the page. Just the SD content. It’s still churning while it tries to make the ads appear now. Those I don’t care about.
Ah, and now it’s just plain stopped and says Done, but it’s given up before any ads appear. That part’s okay though. Anyway, hope it helps. Again, it’s only the SD main page that is affected for me.
