Hell yeah. I’d be interested in meeting you, dj.
Well, this is shaping up.

Yeah, the DJ is on my short (well, under 19,000 at least) list of posters I want to meet as well. Though, I have to point out that if the DJ is drunk, he oughtn’t be crying about the Blue Laws.
However, it is only the liquor stores that are closed Sundays, not the bars. So there’s still booze aplenty. This past Sunday, for instance, I was quite hammered, before I had to leave the bar to make the midnight Red Line train home. Grrrr…
water2j - does the Night Owl service run on Sundays?
that runs 'til about 2:30, I think.
I’d be up for a (non)dopefest if it works out with my work schedule.
I’m more of a stand-around-drinking-beer kinda gal, though.
Nature shmature!
I think I’m in love. I’ll have to second this sentiment. If there is hiking and trees involved I’ll see you when you get back to the bar.
The problem is when you run out of booze and you want more, but you’ve been drinking to long to get any. Seriously, in a town with such a heavy Irish population you would hope that they would be a little more advanced in their thinking on this subject. Actually, come to think of it, maybe us Irish cats are the reason they made the laws in the first place!!!

I’ll keep you company.
I’ll have to pace myself, though. My tolerance is pretty low because I’ve not been drinking much lately due to my weight-loss campaign.
The weight-loss is proceeding quite nicely, but as a side effect my liver is now a 98-lb-weakling.
I’m sure that on June 8th, there will be some high school having a prom, and that afterwards there will probably be an Arboretum party we could crash. Sure, there might be some legal issues if we get caught in a public park drinking with a pack of minors, but it could be fun, right?
Anyway, Night Owl service isn’t available off the end of the subway lines. I have to get the last train to get the last bus to get home. As I said, grrr…
I vote for something that’s free. I’m a broke mofo!
Still keeping my eye on this thread… just started working at a very small company with very many customers and very few employees, so I don’t really have a set schedule. Keeping my fingers crossed!
I have never met the dj in person, but I have seen his nuts.
Oh, and WickedBlue, if I do go, we can travel together if you’d like. Your fear of driving in Boston and my fear of everything will mix nicely!
So June 8 it’s looking like?
June 8 is good for me.
Rasa and Pammi, thank you both for offering to navigate. I guess we’ll make plans once everyone knows what they’re doing.
And Rasa, Kerrigan had it coming!
Yay. I’m up for June 8. I haven’t been to a Dopefest since coming back to the east coast.
I’m kind of wondering if there will be floor space available for passing out at some point. There’s no way I can drink all day and night and then drive back to Portland.
I have one request, and I understand if the request is not feasible.
At a specific time, please walk to Marsh Plaza on Commonwealth Avenue on the BU campus and wave in a southerly direction - or, specifically, at this webcam mounted across the street.
That way, I can get some screen captures and we’re guaranteed DopeFest (or, non-DopeFest) pics, even if no one brings a camera.
Wow, I can’t believe I’ve missed this thread! I’d love another Boston get-together… I really enjoyed the one I attended when Spiritus came up, hanging out with erislover (even though he’s forgotten about me), waterj2, RobotArm, ENugent, CalMeacham … and somebody else who was quieter than I am, so I’ve forgotten his name – sorry! Plus, I was supposed to meet Pammipoo last summer, and she’s been haunting my dreams ever since.
I’m game for anything, and my schedule’s pretty open – especially this early in the summer. I’d prefer to avoid establishments that check ID (pesky age discrimination), (if they don’t happen to check, that’s quite okay), but if this doesn’t work for other Dopers then I’m fine with that. Also, I can give a ride to anyone who wants one – I’m on the South Shore, but that’s not binding.
Grelby, do you want help talking to your 'rents?
Hey, you weren’t the only one I forgot about! (gee, there’s no good way to say that, is there?)
I got lost following you but still made it to the watering hole with little direction, and you still forget me? It’s okay, erislover, no harm done. (My self-esteem will never recover, but that’s a different story… :))
June 8 is still good… Maybe we should hit a^K the Taco Bell… =) Or I liked Jeremy’s idea of crashing a party at the Arboretum… or a show…
Do we have a consensus or what to do (and where and when to meet)?
Eh-em. Us New Yorkers would have had a date, time, and location weeks ago. I guess there just aren’t that many Type A folks in Boston. Where and when, kids? Where and when?
Oh, and Happy Bump Day.

(still voting for Shear Madness)
Yeahyeah, when/where/what? Don’t look at me, I’m from Rhode Island. I like the idea of meeting somewhere easy to find. Though the point may be moot, as I went from being unemployed for 2 months to not having had a day off since I’ve been hired… I’ll see if I can sneak out early on the 8th if that’s what’s decided.
Well, if people are driving up, the best location place to meet would be somewhere with parking! Alewife train station is cheap and easy to get to. If those that are driving here meet there, we can all take the train in to town and hook up with, say, waterj and whoever else is already in town.
I live right by Alewife so that works good for me.
Well, if you’re taking a bus or train into town, you’ll end up at South Station. There’s a Sbarro’s there with excellent service, or so I’ve heard. If you’re driving in, parking at Alewife is probably better than trying to drive into town and park. The subway into town is a freaking dollar, which is probably worth it to avoid Boston driving.
As for what we’re gonna do in town, I still really don’t know. It shouldn’t be hard to find a bar somewhere (for the cheapskates, I recommend the Cambridgeport Saloon, which has pints of Amber Bock on tap for $1.65). But it would be nice to find something else to do beforehand.
OK, I’m officially out of this thread for the next few days. I’ll be out of town. I will agree to whatever is decided upon in any fashion.
My original idea was cheap bar, Shear Madness. Shear Madness is, IIRC, $32. It is a hell of a play IMO.
Hey, using public internet access at the airport! LOL, kinda neat. Anyway, I wanted to say that the night of the 8th there is an onlies concert (free) of some kind in Cambridge on the Charles, by Charles/MGH red line stop.
Sounds like a nice end to an evening… but what to do during the day? Let me know what you think!
