Break on through to the other site- A MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and cloudy(ish) with a predicted high of 89 and maybe rain. Or not. TWPTB are bein’ willie nillie about that. The big plan of the day is laundry. We shall sup at our favorite Mexican place, even though this means we shall have to don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. We’ve decided it’s time to give it a go. OLÈ! Still not all the way thrilled with the new site, but less grumpy about, so there’s that.

Butters yay about the new surgeon. Hope all goes well.

Shoe yay for Pretzel munchin’ rodent(s).

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

28 minutes to circle my neighborhood. I can add to it by going down both cul-de-sacs or by going out to the main road. Maybe in a week or so. No sense in pushing too far too fast.

Time to do laundry! WOOHOO!! :boom: :boom: :boom:

First load in the washer. I climbed back into the attic and reset the thermostat on the new fan - recommended setting is 100-110°F… I’d set it on 80°. oops! So it’s good now.

I also ran the vacuum around the common areas and I finally remembered to suck the fluff off the air return grill. It was pretty dusty.

FCD is on a teleconference. I’ve got the ice maker going. As soon as I swap out the laundry loads, I’ll put the dishes in the dishwasher and assume a chill position for a bit. It’s barely 8:30 and I’m whupped!

Morning all. Didn’t sleep all that well due to weird dreams (that I don’t remember at all except that they were weird…). Rained some more last night and 50% chance of more this evening. Need to be out and doing stuff, but I don’t wanna, so we’ll see.

Purp, happy to know Pretzel’s appetite has returned. Hope the chair is all you remember it to be.

boo fae, you should call of today’s meeting for 'extenuating circumstances…"

sunny, see if you can drop a note to the mods. I thought I had FUBAR’ed it up, but I’m automatically connected just like before.

OK, all y’all take care now.

Happy Toosday!

It was warm out when I left for the park this morning. Shorts and t-shirt, and no hoodie.
Ripple was in rare form this morning, changed his name from Old Man to Billy Bad Ass.

He’s usually pretty chill but he got into a bark fest with a pittie outside the park. You would have thought he wanted to rip the pittie to shreds. He wanted to play, the pittie wanted to play, but her owner just got her and wasn’t sure about bringing her into the park yet.
Probably the smart thing to do, I’m always surprised at how many people will pick up their dog at the shelter and bring them straight to the park. How do you know if they will get along with other dogs? How are you going to catch them they barely know you? You should have some alone time with your new dog, bond a little.
Mr Asshole didn’t show up today, nor yesterday, so hopefully he won’t come back.

Glad you found a new doctor Butters, he sounds impressive.

Have to go pick up groceries today at 2.

Well, there is definitely a new queen in the hive, so that’s good. They can take up to 4 weeks to start to lay, but she musta started within a week of hatching, because there were already week-old larvae in there, and they’re bringing in tons of nectar-I’m going to have to add another box.

The only problem is, the mini hive is also going crazy, it’s chock full of bees and honey already and there’s no space at all. It needs to be in a full-size hive ASAP, and what with the half-plan to move house in a few months, adding another full hive really isn’t ideal right now… So they’re going to live on a farm down the road tomorrow, 'cos a lady there wanted bees after hers died last year.

The other good news is- the swarm that left… hadn’t! I spent ages watching and there was nothing happening last time, but there were definitely bees going in and out today!

Sunny he practices at the Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute based at Baptist Hospital in Miami.

Nuts Yay for Bee overload and new Queen and new home.

Mooommmm aren’t you supposed to relax in retirement?

Dot Hoping things are better today and where are you located, not specifically but geographically. For some reason I have that you are in Australia but may have you mixed up with someone else.

Thanks for all the good wishes for hubs. Obviously, I there is still some risk but no heart/lung machine needed and will not even be under general anesthesia but sedation. I think he will be fine. Dr said once the aortic valve is replaced it makes the Mitral valve behave better. This is lifesaving on the aortic and just buys time to get the others fixed. Doc says he will probably go home next day.

Wassamatter - you worried your retirement won’t be a life of leisure???

Great news about the surgery - that has to be a load of worries off your mind. But can’t you make them keep him a few days so you can have a break? snerk Good thought continue to flow your way.

cueing the Haaleluia Chorus for Butters and hubs!

Sounds like an entire series of events occurred in exactly the correct order so that you could meet Dr Quesada!

Great news! I’ll hold your hand next Tuesday!

~VOW

Hopefully not the farm that all my childhood pets moved to. :open_mouth: :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Yay for Pretzel! :snake:

Purple, I hope you find your chair. I had one for years, and I loved it. Uncomfortable for sitting, but it added such a touch of class to my abode. It came from Pier One. I think I got it from my parents the Christmas before I got married, which would have been…hmmm…1973, LOL.

The chair made many, many moves, and it finally disintegrated in its old age. I enjoyed it, and have no regrets!

~VOW

Shoe congrats on Pretzel eating. I hope you find your poppasan. If you can’t find it at the store, try Craigslist.

Nut it sounds like you have all the bees. :hugs:

Sari I’m glad you’re able to get to the dog park again. I always have nearly as much fun as my dogs.

Butters are they replacing his valve without general anesthesia? Wow. I did not know that was a thing. :exploding_head:

Moommm I think Butters is like me: stunned by how much you get done before 8:30. You’re like those old Army commercials. You get more done before breakfast than I get done all day.

Metal Mouse I am a big fan of staying inside and avoiding erranding. I support you!

The school district just sent us the check from our settlement. Yay! On to my next project, getting the house unpacked. I’ve set a goal of Labor Day for having it done. This sounds (and feels) like a ridiculously long time, but I think with the kids help I can pull it off. With all of our respective disabilities, I’d rather inch along a little at a time then end up with someone seriously ill. It needs to get done though. It’s really not the way anyone would want to live at the moment.

Happy Toesday everyone!

Butters, good news on the doc! I hope he’s able to be of real help. I can’t imagine how stressed you both must be.
I’m in Missouri. Meth country. Well, one of them.
Purple, I’m jealous of the papasan and have always wanted one. Hope it’s everything you dreamed of!

I did find a ride to PT this afternoon. Still haven’t heard back about the next neurologist appointment. I don’t know if it would be productive to call again. I will tomorrow if I still haven’t heard. Left a message with the place that loans equipment to see if they have a motorized chair I can try.

Grind on. grind on. Roommate got jealous of all the time I was spending with the kid and our science experiments, so she won’t leave her with me anymore and takes her to her uncle’s instead.

tbh tomorrow looks even grimmer and the next day grimmer still. Something’s got to give.

Yay! Taters and GT are back! I hope you stick around. We need you to class up this new joint.

Glad you like the new doctor Butters. When they put in my stent I got to watch the whole thing on the monitor. They did give me a sedative that made it hard to stay awake though.

What theme are you using Swampy? I need to go explore themes soon, if I can find my way back there.

If I could remember what I finally did to fix my password, Sunny, I’d tell you, but I’m old and senile. :flushed:

Take it from me, Purp, dating is highly overrated. 'Sides, you have us, right?
What? Stop crying.

Speaking of laundry: the repairman came and told me that our dryer is crappola. He might be able to replace all the plastic parts that wore out, but we may not want to spend that much and might be better off getting another dryer. I am not surprised. You’d think that for what they cost, they’d put real bearings in there. :rage:

Yay for :bee: :bee: :bee: :bee: :bee: :bee: :bee: Nut.

I did have a good thing happen yesterday. I wanted a new chain for my chainsaw-onna-stick, Which I’ve been informed is actually a ‘pole-saw’. Anyway, I went to BiMart 'cause they sell chainsaw chains there, (for ~$25) They didn’t have the right one. So I took myself over to Midget Motors* expecting to have to pay through the nose. I went in and 'splained to the counter guy what I wanted. He looked at his collection of chains and said he didn’t have the right size. Then he said, “I’ll make you one.” and went into the back room. In a few minutes he came back and dropped a chain on the counter and said “That’ll be $11.95.”
Half of what it would have cost me to buy a prepackaged one. And it fit perfectly.
I like those guys.

  • They aren’t little people who work on motors, they’re people who work on little motors.

We got a bid of ~$9800 to pour a concrete floor in our basement at the little house. We’re trying to get a couple more bids, but it’s slow work getting any contractors to talk to us. We’re heading back there today or tomorrow. There’s too many loons around here that think that the plague is a librul hoax and wearing masks is an affront to their freedumbs.

Afternoon all. Usually my naps are from 2-4 pm, but I laid down early today so we’ll see how that works. Still need to do something constructive with the day…maybe.

Bumba, Dryers run $250-up, so yeah, probably cheaper to get a new one. And that concrete floor sounds nice, but nearly $10,000… :grimacing:

Nut, good news on the proliferating bees. Lots of growing stuff in your part of the world.

Dot, it’s the kid that will suffer, doubt uncle will be as patient and ‘sciency’ as you are.

Sunny, I’m still slowing putting stuff up and away from my house re-work in March, so I feel for you.

{{Butters}}, I can’t imagine being ‘sedated’ while someone looks inside me and works on my heart…I’d want to be out totally during that. But if that’s what the Dr. orders…

Sari, a responsible owner? (the pittie’s). What is world coming too? And glad Mr. Ahole didn’t come back yet…I am sorry for his dog, though.

OK, I think I will do something…not sure what, but I will do something…

Take care all.

Some years back, we called a guy for our dryer, but it was pretty old (avocado color, no less) and he said it wasn’t worth fixing. In the course of our conversation, he said to avoid Maytag because while they used to be top of the line, they replaced metal parts with plastic, and they just weren’t as durable. We went with Kenmore, which didn’t last nearly long enough, and our current dryer is a Whirlpool that I’m very happy with. I wanted a huge drum, and that’s what I’ve got.

In other news, I coiled up both hoses since I don’t expect to have to water for some time. I also gathered up several large branches that fell in the storm and I covered Roxy’s sandbox - it’s full of wet sand, but no standing water, so that’s good. Laundry is done. I was here while FCD was on a teleconference - OMG, I don’t miss that kind of stuff at all!!

The attic fan kicked on today, so yay! I guess I set it to the right temp. That’s pretty much the excitement of the afternoon.

Not surprisingly, today is a Bad Lupus Day, so I’m lying low. This too shall pass.

Was awakened at 2:00 a.m. by what sounded like gunshots. Two of 'em. They were probably firecrackers, but my mind goes to gunshots first because the LAST time I thought I heard firecrackers, they turned out to be gunshots, with two people seriously hurt and one guy on the lam.

Dot, I’m saddened to learn your roommate is so petty that she’d rather her child miss out than than have a good mentor like you. Doesn’t bode well, does it? When is your appointment with the specialist? I hope the coming days are better than you expect.

Butters, I’m relieved the procedure won’t be quite as extensive and dangerous as previously planned.

Howdy Y’all! It’s me, the grump, who still is not sure about all this. :face_with_raised_eyebrow: We accomplished laundry and then decided to go eat a late N.O.L./early sup at two-thirty bein’ as we were hongry. After that we went to the Pubic Sto’ to pick up some needed stuff. We got back to da cave just before the bottom fell out of the sky. Now 'tis not rainy but looks like more is on the way tonight and tomorrow. Fine by us cause we are inside and dry and have no where to go the rest of the day or tomorrow. All in all been a pretty good day. Chillage now ensues.

nuts yay for the bees and the new queen. Will there be a coronation? :princess:

Bumba I’m usin’ “Discourse-Classic” and like it so far. Might check out another one or two just to see, however.

I’ve checked out all the different themes, and I find Discourse-Classic to work the best for me.

We got supper from a local fish market - their seafood for sale is $$$ but their food-to-go isn’t bad at all. FCD got fried oysters and a crab cake with 3 sides for $19 and I got a crab cake sammich with 2 sides for $12. It was pretty good, even tho Roxy decided she needed to help me eat my dinner. Kid likes crabcakes, so she’s got good taste.

I’m pretty much done for the day. I’ll load the dishwasher before I go to bed, but I have no plans to do anything productive. Chillage shall ensue.

Work went OK, a littler lower volume than the last few days. Almost made up for the lawn mower that some one ordered. And it had to go on the top shelf of the conveyer cages.

{{{{nellie}}}}

Dot, that sucks for the kid.
sari, Gordie was perfectly fine in front of dogs in the shelter, but the first day we went to the dog park, he challenged a 160lbs. Sicilian Mastiff to a fight outside the park.
