Break on through to the other site- A MMP

My mask broke when I was out shopping :frowning: and it was the only one I had with me at the moment and I couldn’t do much about it. And there were people coughing all over the store. Frustrating!
Though I’ve heard that there aren’t a lot of virus cases here in Hawkesbury, I do want to be safe.

Midget Motors?
I have a motor company?

How does one get a new MMP nickname?

It appears in the scrying mirror.

Unless Swampy cleaned the mirror when he spiffed da cave.

Holy cows! I can reply to individual posts as I read through the thread, no more not posting because catching up is too daunting a task! Ima go start at the beginning again! Betcha I get back here before Swampy says good morning and gives us the weather report for Albany!

Never mind, that didn’t work as I thought it would. Darn.

Morning, mumpers! Another hot day here, my phone tells me it’s currently 79 UK degrees and that is far too hot for me and the mogs. The cats are asleep in the shade, they’ll be moving round the house later as the sun moves from the back to the front although neither of them goes very far from us at the moment.

First meeting of the day went pretty well, and took just over an hour instead of the two hours it was scheduled for. I just have to write minutes and do some spreadsheet work then we can declare it done.

I’ve got another one this afternoon, and then we’re off grocery shopping because that’s a really exciting way to end your evening. My DJ friend has his rock show on tonight so I’ll be getting three hours of top quality music as well.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and fair (actually it’s quite muggy and hyooomid out which I say is unjust) with a predicted high of 86 (BRRR!) and cloudy(ish) with a chance of rain. Or not. Once again TWPTB are all willy-nilly. Not much to report here. Yestiddy was a day of sloth and idleness. I predict today will be the same. Burgers and fixin’s with fries shall comprise sup due to a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for a good grilled burger.

Midget we could call you MG or Alto in honor of your clarinet. Mayhaps others will chime in with ideas as well.

Dots seems to me that if anyone is eligible for disability it would be you. Stand your ground with that doc if you need to do so. The older I get the bolder I have become about that. Then again, I am fortunate in that the doc(s) I see regularly are great about explanations and answerin’ questions.

Nettie parkin’ spaces are sacred ground. Go get 'em!

Susan sounds like quite a nice deck and kitteh play area there!

gotti hope all goes well with the MRI. I hate those things but will deal when I have to deal cause of the benefit.

MOOOOOOM Hope the COVIDIOT BIL does not make everyone sick.

My sheets have little tags on the bottom that let me know how they should fit on the bed. Lower left hand corner for the fitted sheets, and lower right hand corner for the top sheets. That’s lower left and right as I stand facin’ the bed.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

swampy - I’ve tried using the sheet tags as indicators, but apparently it’s not a universal code among all sheet makers. Top sheets are easy because of the wider band.

Dot - putting on a twin sheet wrong? That’s a whole new level of weird…

BooFae - I’m hoping you meant 79°F, else it’s an unbelievable 175°F there!

Once I finish my morning reads, I’ll head out for a walk around the neighborhood. I’ve figured out routes for 1.25, 1.5, 1.75, and 2 miles, more or less. I want to build up to going twice around, which would be 2.5 miles. I’m hoping FCD can eventually join me, but for now, he can’t even make .25 miles, and he can’t match my pace of about 2.7MPH.

My only other plan is to go to the Amish market and see if they have corn today. I was too early yesterday. Beyond that, no plans.

Happy Thursday!!

Aaaaand back from my walk. It started raining about halfway around, but it wasn’t really noticeable till the last half mile or so. I made it to the house ahead of any serious precip, and I won’t have to water today, so huzzah!

Time to check Food Lion’s weekly ad to see if there’s anything of interest on sale.

Sheet people (not be confused with street people), my mom taught me to put a safety pin on the middle of the edge of the top (or bottom) of the sheet. Works a treat.

Happy Thorsday!

A bit overcast today, and 70 degrees.
Home from the dog park, hardly anybody showed up today.

I have about a half hour before I have to leave for the oil change. My rocks are supposed to be delivered today. I have to let irk know when I am irking by 10am. I’m not sure how to schedule myself as I have no idea how long the oil change will take, and what time the rocks will get here. I had to sign for the rocks last time, but if I am on an irk call I cannot leave the call or put somebody on hold. I hope I have a time estimate before I leave for the oil change.
Or I could just take the whole day off.
LOL Like that ever happens.
The damage I cause by washing my coat, hat, and gloves for the season is bad enough… Just imagine if I take a day off irk. And if FCM were to dust at the same time… it could be bad.

I had a neat, little nature encounter this morning. I opened the front door to get the paper, and at first I thought there was a very large cat just sitting there. I squinted a bit (my glasses were still on the dresser), and realized that my newspaper was being guarded by a red fox who was staring at me through the storm door. She decided I was no threat, and she proceeded to go back to cleaning and scratching herself. This went on for thirty seconds, when something startled her, and she ran off to the woods across the street.

I suppose she’s the same one who was making all the racket this past spring, while she was looking for love.

I like foxes, I just wish they would say, “Ring-ding-ding a ring-ding-ding,” rather than a very human like screech just out side your window.

We shall have Amish corn with supper tonight. And some sort of chicken that I pulled out of the freezer. That’s as far as my brain has progressed.

It rained on me at Food Lion and more is coming this afternoon. Looks to be an indoor day.

Good morning all. Got the garbage out just in time for the pickup, so need to bring the can back inside in a bit. It’s a big, wheeled can and since half my stuff goes in the recycle bin, I normally only have to put it out every other week, and I almost forgot today.

No rain at the moment, but scattered showers and a 40-50% chance of rain are in the forecast through next week, so mowing the yard may be tricky. Does help keep me inside…

Emily, I like swampy’s suggestions of MG or Alto, since you also write music (per your FB), maybe Notes would be another alternative. And I have the mask break problem (have a supply of so-so quality one-use masks), so I try to have a spare in the car–doesn’t help much if it snaps in the store, thought…

FCM and all. Much thanks for the clues on fitted sheets/mattress pads. I’m of the ‘guess and cuss’ school, so maybe next time I’ll try one of your recommendations.

Sari, hope all the logistics work out and Murphy becomes confused on the way to your house.

Dots, what swampy said. Nobody is going to stand up for you except yourself. Don’t get up from the Drs. office until YOU are satisfied.

nettie, after that day, probably a good idea to let DH

susan, good news on the remodel and the health news.

Butters, busy day. And yes, nappage is a very good thing.

Apologies to any folks I missed, need to proceed with the morning. Take care all.

My oil change and tire rotation were free, which is nice, I suppose, since I only have 2832 miles on the truck.
I felt so stupid though, whoever changed the oil moved the seat back and I couldn’t remember how to move it forward. There is a button on the side of the seat, I was looking for a lever under the seat.

Rocks aren’t coming until Moonday, they were delivered to a local trucking company today.
I sooooo love clear messages.
So I took the morning off for nothing, but I do have a ton of laundry to do, as well as some other stuff that needs to be done.

Monday (I think it was), I tried to recharge the a/c in the Prius. I turned it on and let it run a few minutes, and then put the remainder of a can of coolant into the system. The compressor, which had been quiet, started making a buzzing noise as it ran – and it wasn’t cooling. I decided I should take it to my mechanic to see if he could fix it. All he did was fully charge the system. (I used a partial can we had at the house.) He said if I wanted to get rid of the noise, buy a new car. He said it would cost $2,200 to get a refurbished compressor and change it out.

Anyway, I have air conditioning again. I can’t hear the noisy compressor with the radio on.

It’s Thursday at last! (Or at least I think it is; my days are running together.) My stomach has been off since Sunday and I’m pretty sure it’s the bread I’ve been eating. This generally happens when my diet includes a buttload of white bread. I feel like garbage, clean it up, forget that I just now felt like garbage because I didn’t take care of myself, then have to do it all over again. Silly body. I remember when I could dump any old fuel in it and it would purr along like a cat.

Oh, well - at least I know what’s causing it. As a random tangent in a randomly tangential post, I woke up yesterday with no sense of smell. I immediately assumed I had coronavirus - as one does during a pandemic - then blew my nose and lo and behold, I was fine. I really ought to sleep more.

All it can do is find a problem. Or, if they don’t follow the instructions on scanning people with implanted electronic devices, they can cause a problem. Still waiting to hear from my doc about getting the scan requested. I’ll take the slowness as a good sign.

I think if you reply to the post (rather than using the reply button at the bottom of the thread), your post appears both as a clickable post under the one you replied to, and fully in chrono sequence.

Foxen!

Men are still at work around the yard, with house paint touch-up still to go. It’s hard for me to get much done because I hear them and want to go see what they’re doing, or I try to tune them out, which is tiring. I can’t go under the headphones because I need to hear if they knock, and they are full of questions (which is good, generally speaking). I hope they’ll finish today and I can move the patio furniture back onto the deck. [ETA: Paddy O’Furniture :four_leaf_clover:]

I have a series of deferred medical appointments that can’t be deferred further or accomplished remotely over the next several weeks, all with specialists who have limited availability and all spaced just far enough apart that my lovely wife and I will be semi-isolating at home (sleeping in separate rooms, airing out any enclosed space I’ve been in or exercised in, cleansing surfaces) through mid-August. Bummer.

But the sun is coming out and I have a film and book to finish for a Zoom author chat this weeked (I’ll Push You, which is about a paraplegic man and his best friend, who pushes him along the Camino de Santiago in a wheelchair), and I might make another quart of sauerkraut or try to make kimchi. My small-batch dehydration is going well, with herbs, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, strawberries, lemons, and apples (except I keep eating the apples) thus far. I use a dehydrator (plastic, which I’m not wild about), then condition the food in a jar with a desiccant packet, using a pump-top vacuum sealer. Some of the vents don’t hold their seals well, so I shake the contents and re-evacuate the jar twice a day for about two weeks, then transfer the food and a fresh desiccant packet to a mason jar with a 1-piece lid. I’ll know in around 3-6 months how effective this process is.

My wife is roasting beets. It smells like what I imagine roasting gym socks and jock straps that were found in an abandoned school locker after five years would smell. It’s disgusting.
