Bumps in the night - a noisy house MMP

Lunch time!! While reaching for a paper napkin, I managed to knock over my nearly full beverage glass. Maybe I should just go back to bed…

Entire porch is filled with firewood (original owner of the house designed the porch to be a wood storage area - very handy). I defrosted a gallon of homemade chicken soup. My mom’s gonna come over later and bring me ginger ale and OJ. Sweetie admitted that the fire problems we had been having were most likely due to crap wood and not the fireplace needing cleaning so he said I could make a fire…so I did. Now I’m snuggled up with a nice blanket, a pillow, my bathrobe, 3 cute doggies, a fire, a glass of water, and 3 textbooks that need reading.

Methinks I’m set for the day.

Randomly decided to check my UConn email. I don’t usually since the daily digest doesn’t really apply to me yet. Good thing I did. There was an email from financial aid letting me know my package is ready for review.

I was awarded almost enough for an entire year…for one semester. YAY!! I can rest easy now with confidence that I will have enough to pay for school. :D:D

I just realized something silly and had to share. My throat hurts.
So what, you may be thinking.
Well, usually when I say that my throat hurts, I mean my tonsils hurt ( very common ) or that I have post nasal drip.
In this case, my actual freaking THROAT hurts. Color me surprised.

Owie.

STICKY!!! When did you sneak back in? I’ve missed you!

Santarchy is coming soon

I got a Fed-ex sticky that explained why they couldn’t deliver my package on the package they delivered. I almost got a headache figuring that one out.

Got a handful of shredded paper in a baggie once from the USPS who insisted it was a letter to me that had been “damaged”. Turned out they were right but I didn’t know that until a buddy called to complain why I hadn’t written back and we compared dates.

UPS has delivered our rolling duffel bags -they’re really HUGE!!! We figure they’ll hold 12 days of clothes for our cruise, especially since we won’t be taking stuff on hangars. And they fold flat, so storing them in our teensy cabin won’t be much of an issue. So yay!

**FCD **came home early - once again, he hit 40 hours before the end of the day. So he’s futzing in his shop. I’m thinking about finishing the afghan for daughter’s friend’s baby. I’m sure I can find something to watch as I crochet…

I have taken my <snerk> butts <snerk> to church. I am now at da cave. Life is good.

Supper was quick and easy - I found a Polish sausage in the freezer, so I boiled that up, and we had twice-baked N.O.T. and broccoli for sides. Not bad.

Off to crochet the evening away - have a happy Firday evening!!!

Dindin was easy at da cave too. Subway made it.

Yay on the financial aid, shortdrum!

Sorry for the sickies, though. And fiat, the fact that your post shows up in the thread is a fairly reliable indication that you’re still alive.

Can ya keep the scanning racket down please, Ashes? You’re not actually supposed to put the dog in the scanner, ya know. :stuck_out_tongue:  :dubious:

Home from longish day at work. Preparing for big implementation on Monday, which means that I’ll be going in to work with several of my team members. Hopefully for a very short time. But with snacks. Taco Dip and brownies. Yum.

Not sure yet what I want for dinner. And then there’s the last baseball game of the season. Which is going to have a hard time topping last night’s game.

Hugs all.

GT

Thanks to my mumsey, I’m feeling a bit better. The desire to upchuck my entire digestive system is gone. Down to a sore throat and headache.

Made a bunch more ornaments and posted them to photobucket.

Doggies seem comfy. Little bastards have totally taken over the couch and my blanket. I think I’m gonna curl up on the dog bed in front of the fire. Poor Iggy was on my lap and wrapped in a blanket and was still shivering but he refused to leave my lap to sit in front of the fire. Dumbass. I thought he’d move when I got up but he didn’t.
Mumsey and my stepdad did some shopping for me so I wouldn’t have to leave home. Now that I know the embossing powder works, they got me some more so I have a bunch of colors now. YAY! I’m really liking the powder. She got me some ink too, which also works really well, and some paint brushes of different sizes and shapes which makes putting the ink and powder on easier.

Now they’re gone and I just have to sit and wait (and wait and wait) for Sweetie to tell me he’s nearly home. Then I get to pack up and drive to his work. He’s in Amherst for some sporting event and has to bring the production truck back to work - in RI. We live almost exactly half way between the two points. Unfortuntely they need the truck in RI tomorrow or else he’d just leave it here over night. I’ll probably pick him up around midnight.
Moooooooom - when you say polish sausage, do you mean kielbasa? I detest sausage but I love kielbasa. I can never figure out what people are talking about when they say polish sausage. Sweetie can’t wrap his head around how I can like one but not the other. See, kielbasa tastes like kielbasa and sausage tastes like sausage…it’s easy!
Swampy - I could so go for Subway right now.

Woody/Fiat/Lancialot - how ya doing? Feeling any better? How about you Rosie?

Well, I survived the day, so far. Wicked sore throat and roller coaster fever. Probably a flu bug of some sort. Did go to school today, where we got our midterm results. Yours truly got a 98%! I missed one question, which I knew, I just made a stupid mistake. So close! As it was I got the highest score in the class! I’m feeling pretty good about that.

Awesome!! Good job!!

depression can’t be eased by chicken soup and mommy hugs; I have to change my meds…again. plus I have a large hideous remodeling project ahead of me. I am redoing the downstairs (street level) of my house for me to move in to; then I have to do all the repairs and updates so I can rent out the 3 BR upstairs. The stress of that is not helping.

Kitteh head butts, kneadings, and purrs do help some, and Smokey has been quite accomodating in that area.

Ugh. I totally understand. I’ve been very lucky with depression. Even at its worst, I’m not bad as my mom at her best and my meds work miracles. My mom and both sisters aren’t so lucky and it can be painful for me to see them suffering, knowing that I can send as much love as possible their way and it wont make them better. Apparently daughter hugs don’t cure depression either but I keep trying.

Do you read hyperboleandahalf.com by any chance? Allie finally put up a new post and it was about dealing with depression. As usual, it was funny but it had me crying at the same time. She explains what it’s like so well.
I hope you start feeling better soon and be glad you have a kitteh and not a psycho dog. Any one of my three would probably be biting your bad toe in an attempt to cheer you up.

Oh,my yes, Allie is wonderful. And her post yesterday was both wonderful and sad.

Here’s a reddit ask-me-anything thread by her from reddit (it’s about a year old). And here’s the post shortdrum is talking about.

Watching Game 7. Not as suspenseful as yesterday, but still fun.

Hope everyone’s having a nice Friday night.

Hugs.

sigh I read the post. I am about where she (or her character) was just before realizing the late fees had to be paid. And now I think I’ll crawl into bed and find something comic to watch. Either comic or science-y. Then there’s always Whose Line at midnight . . .

Erm, ha ha ha! Of course not! I’m not scanning the actual dog, that would be… wrong… and silly, yeah silly. Shuddup dog, most of your fur is still just fine.

So my tea kettle is pretty much dead; the whistle thingy broke in the earthquake, the inside has terminal Rustitis, the lid doesn’t really fit anymore and there are chips everywhere. Most importantly, I don’t like the dark red color anymore.

Your mission MMP, if you decide to accept it, is to choose my new tea kettle. Intel–I hate sub-par quality in things I use often. Really, honest. Don’t issue me garbage and then not hide the laser guns. I might be able to stand it until I’m tired of my new Favorite Color for Life, though. What I won’t be able to stand (again, hide the lasers) is a ginormous, glaring, insanely out of place tea kettle invadin’ ma kitchun, stealin ma deezynz.

New color or old color? Middling quality or top shelf? Traditional or some flashy new stuff? And I won’t deny your existence, oh* noooo*. I’ll tell everybody you did it, not me. Why yes, I am a greasy weasel. Dum dum dum dum-dum…

That website is awesome GT. Is it wrong to nearly wet yourself laughing at a website on depression? anyrose, maybe try the quirky but interesting good-nature at this site http://www.eatyourkimchi.com/. It’s been my fave cup of cheer lately.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 55 degrees Amurrkin with a predicted high of <snerk> 69 <snerk> and windy. Windy it is already. We have a “Fire Warning Alert” in effect. Yeah. It’s windy. Don’t burn stuff. That should be fairly obvious I’d think. Also, sounds like a bigboy pants day.

{{{Rosie}}} I know hugs don’t cure but hey, they can’t hurt either. Ick on the remodelin’ projects but just think how much better it’ll be for ya downstairs. Plus it’ll be all purty and shiny!

shortdrum and fiat glad y’all are feelin’ better. Now, entertain me!

I lurve hyperboleandahalf! The one about the cake makes me rofl, literally, everytime.

At noon today, we meet up at the church house for a cookin’ marathon. The <snerk> butts <snerk> will go into the convection oven to finish up and then get shredded. Also, we get to make mac 'n cheese, baked beans and coleslaw. Envy me!

Ok, I need me some more caffiene and some foodlike substance for rumbly tummy.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

ETA: Ashes[sup]2[/sup] your tea kettle should be sturdy and stylish. Remember, I’m gay so I know all about that there stuff. If’n I say it’s f-aaaaaa-bu-lous, then f-aaaaaa-bu-lous it is.

Hey! One day in the middle of August I made a random, spontaneous trip to the Bonnet Tavern in Beford and Grand View Point and I thought about you on my way back through Pittsburgh. Hope you’ve been doing well.

Not sure if I can make it to Santarchy or not, but I’d like to!
Bubba has been doing great. All I’ve been doing is keeping him upstairs for his meals and then he gets to spend the rest of the day with the other dogs.

Hopefully this is the last you’ll see of me today. I have a bunch of homework to get done so I need to quit goofing off.

Rosie, I’m so sorry that you’re having to go through this. I hope you get better sooner than soon.
