Happy Sunday!

Cold at the park this morning. The temp was about the same as yesterday, but today it was damp, foggy, and slightly breezy.
Echo was a bitch this morning and started a fight with a new dog. Cerby was a brat and kept barking even though I had the laser light out. I yelled at him to shut up you asshole, which cracked up everybody. One friend said, Sari, sometimes it seems like you don’t like dogs very much.
I love my dogs, but it doesn’t mean I can’t call them an asshole, or a little bitch, when they deserve it.

Lily was there today; we haven’t seen her in a long time. Lily mom noticed the change in Ripple’s muzzle and I think she was a bit upset. It’s a side effect from the Prednisone though. His muzzle is droopy now and it makes him look old.
I appreciate y’all thinking of him and wishing him well.

My son baked orange cinnamon rolls this morning. He suggested we take them to the park. I said next time, as while these tasted good, they weren’t very pretty. We wouldn’t have had enough rolls either. There were eight people and only six rolls.
If three of our dogs hadn’t gone to a different park, there would have been 12 people and 12 dogs, which is a pretty big crowd when it’s cold outside.
The other park has a beach and dogs can go only during the off season. Since one dog is full lab, and the other two are half lab, swimming in the cold water doesn’t bother them at all.

We have mystery dust here
At first it was thought to be from all the shit going on in Ohio, but that has been ruled out.
I guess we’ll find out sometime.

I’m sorry about CoC, JtC.
It has been a bad year for mumper babies, that’s for sure.

Don’t let anybody lick it, or the next blockbuster in theaters will be CocainebearShar-Pei

:crying_cat_face:

In the '80s I dated a Sandinista. She was the guerrilla my dreams.

It finally started snowing yesterday afternoon, and it was still snowing when I hit the rack. Looks like we got a couple of inches. It’s breezy out, and the snow is melting.

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 35 degrees, a little breezy and most of the snow here has melted off. I was up at 3:00 a.m., and I didn’t see any snowfall, although the street looked shiny from ice. I went back to bed and got up at 7:00 am, and no new snow had fallen. I know points up north, some just 10 or so miles away received snow, but it was a big bust here. I’ll be honest I was hoping for one last snowmageddon so I could avoid going to the office tomorrow, but that will not be the case. The expected high is 43.

JtC, I’m sorry about CoC. Sending hugs.

sari, I often think of Ripple too. So sorry the estate woes continue.

Well, I never made it to the gas station yesterday, so I’ll need to go today for sure. I know I was hoping that we’d get all the snow and then I wouldn’t have to worry about it. I know if I would have gone, it would have snowed, lol!

Other than the gas station run and laundry, I don’t have anything on the agenda.

I hope you all have a great day!

I knew a English Marxist who moved to Bolivia, so he could have Che and crumpets.

After this going well, a snag was hit.

I got the touch ups done this morning, and started the next wall. Went out for breakies. Came back and started to move the next 2 bookcases. Wouldn’t move, barely budged. Turns out I didn’t put sliders under these 2. Argh! I hand to unload the top 2 book cases and was able to wrestle the bottom 2 over to the new spot.

Then there was a huge mess under and around them. They are close to the litter room and I guess some tracked out, not to mention 10 years of dust. I will get sliders for them tomorrow.

Due to the amount of time used on the bookcases, I will not get to the dragon areas today. I did find a lost earring and a book hand.

The lighting in here is odd in that it makes the acropolis colour look different on the 2 walls. Almost a shade different. Ah well, the bookcases will break that up.

A book hand?
I successfully did nothing today. It was wonderful. Time for an early dinner, I’m thinking leftover chinese from last night.

I made scrambled eggs and bacon, loaded and ran the dishwasher, cleaned the wood-burning stove insert of ashes, and emptied the ashcan into a trash bag, and took out the trash and recycling. Other than that, it’s been a boring day.

My boring day included the usual Sunday chores and making Napa chicken, rice and Italian style cabbage (pinterest recipe, not sure how authentic, but it was good).

I’ll work in the studio a bit more before hitting the hay early for the 0200 wake up.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated and I had a not too awful meetin’ of the search committee, which is the good news. The bad news is that it looks like we will meet at least every two weeks until the process is over. Hopefully it won’t be for the entire time, because there’s bound to be a lull once the Parish profile is uploaded to the sooper secret site that Priests who are lookin’ for a gig go to to look. We shall see. OYKW did decide to go with me and wait for the meetin’ to be over. We got back to da cave and had sammiches, then we achieved nappage. The biiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Chillage now ensues.

Well, that didn’t go as planned. Dammit.

As soon as we opened the boat door, we were hit with a strong diesel smell. But the boat had been closed for some months, so it didn’t concern us too awful much. I started making my list, and one item is installing a pump under the deck in the V-berth. So FCD went down and opened the panel - and saw a section of the bilge full of red. Marine diesel is red. Dammit.

Sparing all the sordid details, we do have a small, slow leak in one fuel tank, and as long as FCD changes the oil-sorb pads every couple of weeks, it’s no biggie. Well, he hasn’t messed with it for months. And I’m guessing the fuel leak in the bilge was augmented by water coming in from all the recent storms (tho I have no idea how it’s getting in.) The actual amount of diesel was probably no more than a quart, but since it floats on the water, it looked like we had a bilge full of fuel.

We went home for the wet/dry vac and three 6 gallon fuel cans (which we emptied into the mowers) and a funnel. We slurped out some liquid, poured it into the gas cans, lather, rinse, repeat. In the end, there was between 15-20 gallons of water and fuel in the bilge. We’ll go back tomorrow and see where the marina dumps old diesel so we can get rid of it. Plus we’ll check to make sure we’ve gotten it all. Then I have to clean the shop vac because it’s what I use to clean the fireplace inserts.

So we didn’t get to do what we’d planned to do. On the plus side, I found FCD’s swim trunks.

Ah, the joys of boat ownership!

Now we’re home and chillage shall ensue. Wonder how long before the scent of diesel leaves my nose??

A metal thing that holds your book open while you read. Levenger sold them. For some reason they discontinued them.

Done with long phone calls with the kids and other family members. Prepare to be shocked: I’m still in my jammies! I didn’t even get my Sunday walk in. I don’t really like staying in my pj’s all day, but I guess today I start getting over such foolish attitudes.

I slept great on my new mattress, and I didn’t wake up with a backache! Yaaay! It’s weird having to hoist myself onto the bed, and when I sit on the bed, there’s a good 6" between my feet and the floor. I had to laugh when I realized my 4’9 mother would have needed an escalator to get into such a high bed.

I knew a Contra spy whose cover was a pregnant woman. It was a Contradeception.

OK, OK. This is why the big kids never let me play.

Not one of the brightest moves of my life. Pulling the burner coils off the stove to get at the drip pans for washing, grabbed one I had just been using less than 10 minutes before. Thankfully. first-degree burns at worst, but it’s the pads of the thumb and forefinger on my right hand (dominant hand, of course).

At least DH liked his spicy peanut butter ramen. Bit carbier than he should probably be eating in one meal, but he’s in a “[expletive] you” mood when it comes to his pancreas, apparently (I did warn him about the carbs). Now I need to figure out a use for the seasoning packet (recipe said to not use it, so it’s in my spice rack).

Gotta figure out reconfiguring desk and nearby storage space. I’m also seriously considering acquisition of a second computer to be used for work purposes (personal privacy reasons, I’d rather not let corporate IT have access to things like my medical stuff or online banking), so would need to make room for that (DH thinks a desktop would be better than another laptop, and Walmart offers some quite acceptable options in refurbished for under $200), including figuring out where to put the monitor on my desk. DH is not going to be thrilled about juggling network cables and swapping placement of two pieces of furniture (Misty’s cage stand and the printer stand are going to have to trade, having her right next to my desk if I’m dealing with business phone calls probably isn’t going to work well, and I need the printer/scanner more conveniently placed relative to my desk).

Any WFH types, advice? I do not have space to move my desk, etc., into a separate room, so will be in the living room. DH will likely behave himself on the subject of noise, can’t guarantee pets will, since all three are pretty vocal.

Evening all. Dined at Longhorn and did some book shopping at Barnes and Noble, then went to the gym and rode a bike nowhere and sat in the sauna for 20 minutes, then came home all sweaty and took a nice hot bath. Food has been consumed so the evening will be sloth and internettin’. 60% chance of rain tomorrow and more expected Wednesday and Thursday, so lots of good reasons to stay indoors. Not much on the agenda for next week, according to the USG site I should get my refund sometime this coming week, which will be a nice addiition to the balance sheet. As for the state refund…if it shows up by April I’ll be impressed.

Nellie, my usual around the house wear is a sweatshirt and sweatpants, as it gets hotter some of that will be dialed back/shed. Being in your jammies all day is a prerogative of being older and single. Enjoy it!

Seanette, OOWIE!!! Did something like that when I was young and never forgot it. These days with a glass top stove it’s harder to see (they do have a caution light to warn you) so I worry about doing that myself. Hope it all heals up nicely. No thoughts on the desk/computer re-alignment, just that it works out well for you.

FCM, sounds like a real fun day…(/sarcasm). Something else to add to the list of things to be done on a regular basis. Finding the swim trunks is a nice bonus.

Indeed it is. Just wait until you retire someday.

rocky, ain’t bookcases joys to move? And yea! for the found items (I presume the earring is yours or someone else in the house).

OK, onward into the night. Take care all and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.

I cleaned, I napped, I watched some Wednesday. I had a tuna salad sandwich for lunch. I’m sipping on a Wisconsin Old Fashioned while the Bojangles seasoned poke loin is cooking.

I moved the sectional and vacuumed under it. I found a small plate, 2 pieces of Milk-Bone, 4 assorted pieces of candy, and a desiccated insect.

[Col. Kilgore]I LOVE THE SMELL OF NAPALMDIESEL IN THE MORNING![/Col. Kilgore]

Don’t feel bad. I took a class on Communism in college, but I got poor Marx.

Ouch, nettie!

That gets a solid snerk! poor Marx.

But I thought you knew all the Engels…Ok, I’ll get me coat.

Thanks everyone for the supportive thoughts. It is indeed tough when one of our fur-babies starts to decline, but at least we can be confident that COC lived a very good life. His diet has changed to whatever he wants to eat, I will be eating salmon much more often and when he is having more bad days than good ones we will both cry as we take him for that last vet visit.

Hurray! I hope you like it!

How RUDE!

I read further and dang about the diesel. I never knew it marine diesel was red before.

Even so, there were probably more than one bruise that happened while folks were trying to get out of the way, cause storms like that can come up so fast.

I guess I need to start watching it just for Flower.

Thanks! I have decided that I am not looking back more than 7 years. I’m not finding evidence of wrong doing, I’m finding evidence of really bad record keeping and major suspicions of underreported donations. It is a 501c3 non-profit, so doesn’t pay the IRS taxes, but they have to report income all the same.

The CLCA is also holding several very nice pieces of unimproved property that could be sold for a nice amount and a bunch of worthless lots that they should just give back to the county rather than paying property taxes for them every year.

I found a stinkin’ baseball field that nobody knew about. How the heck does anyone lose a baseball field? It is fenced and has a backstop and bases and benches. From the looks of it, nobody has run those baselines for many years.

I’ll bet that shower felt goooood. I’m glad you are feeling better and hope you keep improving. Being sick sucks.

Wow, did he make them from scratch? They can be kinda tricky to make look pretty and I’ve never got the hang of cutting them evenly. I tried the dental floss trick I saw on a baking show and must say that it worked much better in my mind than in reality.

Of course there was, it’s in the rules somewhere. Do you still have match to the earring?

Hurray! Comfy sleep is so much fun!

I’m still not used to having a high bed either. Hubs used to like it a lot but now COC can’t jump on the bed and he used to be hub’s head warmer at night. We put a box by the back of the bed to see if COC would use that, but he hasn’t seemed to understand why it was there.

OK, that’s it, all of you need to go and sit in your rooms alone and think about what you have been doing!

I saw Tricia with her husband a few years ago at Costco. We were still able to communicate non verbally and I understood she did not want me to approach her. Later I talked to another classmate and found that her husband was a jealous type and could be mean to her. It made me sad.
