Yes. If they can’t gurantee that he won’t pass out, he has to give up his CDL. I’m glad you feel so much better!

The chicken, shrimp, and the Holy Trinity have been chopped. The chicken and shrimp are mixed with the Creole seasoning. The andouille has bee sliced. The dry ingredients for the cornbread have been combined.

To do:

  1. Wait 'til about 15:30;
  2. Mix the cornbread and put it in the oven;
  3. Sauté the Holy Trinity with some olive oil and garlic;
  4. Simmer with rice and chicken stock and bay leaves;
  5. Add all of the dead animals and simmer;
  6. Eat.

Hubs is a SciFi guy so I asked him and he’s read Ringworld. Thanks for the explanation.

Agreed 1000%

No freaking kidding. Hubs’ sister was named executor of their parents’ estate and there was some shady stuff. One example is that diamond earings that my MIL wanted to go to a particular granddaughter (Hubs’ other sister’s oldest) was instead given to the executor’s daughter. I believe my daughter was also screwed out of some things that MIL wanted her to have. Also, there was a FL condo that 2 of the kids (including Hubs) wanted retained so that everyone could vacation down there. Executor is a greedy witch and sold it off for less than it was worth. I said nothing; was silently frustrated.

This being Ash Wednesday, it’s a day of fast and abstinence. Had half a banana for breakfast and a bowl of lobster bisque with some wheat things for lunch. Dinner will be pierogi (potato & farmers cheese) for dinner with some sauteed onions and red peppers. Hubs went for his weekly blood draw and also stopped at church and came home with a forehead pretty full of ashes. As freezing rain is falling, I’ll just read my Lenten booklet.

Ok. I was wrong! Defib makes you not able to have a CDL. Not a pacemaker, though.

Howdy Y’all! We procured provisions and had fish 'n chips. Then nappage occurred. Then sloth. Shortly I need to become presentable for the public again and head over to the church house for Ash Wednesday service prep. The service begins at six p.m. Thus is the news from swampland.

That makes exactly zero sense to me. Fingerprints cannot be guessed or forgotten.

We have a wind advisory for the next two days. From my preferred TV station weather site, KCRA: “South to Southeast winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected” Charming. Hopefully, the ground has dried and resolidified enough from last month that trees won’t be knocking down power lines again. There are some outages on SMUD’s map, but not an unusual number.

well now we had our fake spring after xmas its back to wind rain hail and we even had about 10 minute snow flurry last night…

still trying to get a house but may end up renting an apartment…but going from 300- 740 a month for 30 years to 3 k is a bit of sticker shock

Whats even more shocking is the gas bill apparently socal gas has had shortages the past few months and got bent over without lube on the so-called open market and what would normally be about a 200 gas bill is almost 500…the peasants are out with pitchforks if nextdoor is any indication…

because with a decent scotch tape, they can be copied …all you have to do is have someone touch the sticky side od the tape and you can rin it through a copier and instant fingerprint

out here the gusts are 75 mph and up… the neighbor’s empty shed that came with the house that was wrecked during last week’s windstorm is totally destroyed now … of course, it was over 40 years old and empty

Doesn’t seem practical as a method of breaking into a found phone where the finder does not have access to the rightful owner’s hands to take a sample print. :slight_smile:

Hope nobody got hurt by flying debris.

no it just bent the frame and it collapsed inwards tho every time we hear it I look out back to make sure our sheds ok 50 times an hour tho

Actually, it’s not anywhere near that easy. And I’m happy that my phone (like most) encrypts fingerprints. Still, I’m going to make sure I continue to wipe off my sensor after each use and wipe down my phone more frequently than I have been.

Waiting for my hair to dry so I can take Ms. Dog for Squirrel Patrol, aka the long walk of the day. We’ve already played “hide the toy,” fetch, and tug-of-war, and we’re both ready for something more vigorous.

Seanette, hold onto your hat! That is, if you wear a hat. Those are some right smart winds!

Every time I read another horror story about how underhanded heirs can be, I’m amazed all over again how easily so many people can be tempted into being unethical. Not any of US, of course! :slight_smile:

ETA: Well, crud. It’s snowing. I don’t mind snow, but it means it’s cold out there. Ms. Dog loves snow and cold. I’m turning into a wimp and am not as fond of long walks in frigid air.

His brothers don’t know - they won’t know till their mom dies, so the amount most likely will change. But they won’t know what the others get anyway.

OK, you’re not my doctor and I’m not seeking a diagnosis, but I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this. The bottom third of the middle finger of my left had was deep purple, like a bruise. The top two segments were waxy yellow and felt sorta numb. It took between 10-15 minutes of almost continuous flexing to get it back to looking normal. It was preceded by me carrying my grocery bag from Aldi to my car - maybe 40 or 50 feet. Did I somehow cut off the circulation in one finger? Or is there an Aldi curse? Anyway, it seems to be fine now, but it was a tad disturbing when I first looked at it.

Supper was eggs scrambled with onions and 'shrooms. FCD wanted to get fried chicken from the deli, but I just wasn’t in a fried chicken mood. But I got him a stromboli from Aldi and he said it was pretty good.

Time for chillage. It’s been a day.

wow just had another snow/hail flurrry while I was bringing up the trash cans and picking up the mess left on the curb

just seen this… i think its earlier than expected

I’ve had that happen, FCM. I don’t know exactly what went on, but I’m guessing the pressure from the plastic bag handle ruptured some small capillaries in the finger and caused a deep bruise. The swollen tissue probably pressed on nerves and caused numbness. I’ve had the bruise last for several days afterwards, too.

The jambalaya and cornbread are done, waitin’ t’ git et, and I’m having a View Carré.

I’ve also started a fire, because it’s rather brisk outside.

bumba, I keep a med list on my hard drive, complete with prescriptions, OTCs and dosages. Whenever I go to the doctor, I print them a copy. As far as a CDL, there are quite a few things that will cause you to not pass the DOT physical (and doctors who prescribe or perform procedures contact them when you no longer are eligible), including a difib, a (mini) stroke (an old boyfriend lost his that way), epilepsy and being insulin dependent (I lost mine for that reason). TPB don’t want anyone subject to being even momentarily out of it for medical reasons driving big vehicles.

I’m sorry about your eye prospects nellie. As far as fingerprint locks on your phone, they have to build in enough tolerence into the fingerprint reader to keep you from throwing your phone off the nearest bridge to make them less useful than other locks. Depending on the model and the type of lock, I can usually unlock quite a few models without special equipment. With the right equipment, I can unlock most phones. The best lock isn’t the one that comes with your OS, but several third party ones that would make a nun cuss trying to set them up. :stuck_out_tongue:

{{{ace}}} I hope that everything goes well with your hubby. If he would have to change careers, I can testify that the best transportation directors and dispatchers that I’ve worked with started out their careers driving OTR, if that’s any consolation to you.

Moooooom, I’ve seen that video too. My arms aren’t long enough and I have a pretty small laundry room, so it didn’t work for me (it may help to have an engineering degree :stuck_out_tongue: ).

It hit 77F here this afternoon and is supposed to be in the lower 80s tomorrow. With that forecast, I made the executive decision yesterday to request tomorrow off. if the wind dies down, I plan to go out on the bike. If it doesn’t, I’ll take the small beast and my tablet (I’m reading a really good book) to the dog park for some fresh air.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I use Evernote for that, which syncs with my phone and tablet, since both have the app installed. Last time I went to my doctor, we were reviewing my meds, and I simply handed her the tablet with that note open. She seemed to think that was a good way to handle it.

Howdy Y’all! We got ashed and are now back at da cave. ‘Tis warmish out so I am wearin’ shorts and have ceilin’ fans runnin’. Weather be weird!

All of you in the path of the various storms stay safe!

Evening all. Shopping was accomplished and swimmin’-n-sauna were done and still made it home to watch soccer/do my Sudokus/Jumbles. Cheeseburgers were the nightly repast and now it is time for internettin’ and general sloth (it made it to 77F here today). Have a couple more chores tomorrow but I think I’m getting back into the Mumdane and Pointless stuff pretty well.

FCM, no idea what happened to your finger, if it re-occurs you might want to check it out (or at least Google it…). Take care. You and Sari are making me glad everything I go goes to my brother if i kick off suddenly…albeit my plan is to live forever…

shady, that’s quite a bit of a breeze…on my cruise Way Down South we couldn’t land at a couple places due to 40-60 knot (45-70mph) winds. With temperature around freezing, no one really wanted to go out much anyway… Stay safe (you too, Nettie)

If he’s a SF guy an hadn’t read it he would have been drummed out of the fraternity… :wink: :slightly_smiling_face: Glad to be of assistance.

Of all the cars I’ve had in my life, the only one I really loved was my Toyota Highlander from 2003-2010. May look into get another one for my ‘geezer’ car in 2-3 more years.

FCM, glad the pacifier was found and meltdown averted.

OK, need to get down to some serious internettin’. All y’all take care.

We walked 2 miles. Ms. Dog did her domino impression with all the white flakes on her black coat. We met a labradoodle, and Ms. Dog was NOT nice. She usually loves other dogs, so I don’t know what the issue was. Later, she went bonkers out of the blue, jumping side-to-side and play growling. I have no idea what that was about. We are now home and drying our curly hair. (Hers is nicer than mine.)

FCM, glad you found the pacifier. Does Tobias have one of those pacifier clips? I had one for my binky-obsessed daughter. The problem was remembering to clip it to whatever she was wearing, as she didn’t always make it through the day in one outfit.

red, that’s good to know. Also, I’m glad you’re on the side of the righteous.

MetalMouse, how often do you have braunschweiger sandwiches? I love that stuff but almost never eat it because it’s bad for my if-you-squint-while-drunk girlish figure. I think you compensate by having salads, no?

CNN had a headline about a 100-degree difference in temperatures in the US. Climate change is not for the faint of heart…or anyone else.

I use Evernote for a couple of other things and have given providers electronic lists, but I’ve found that a hard copy gets more attention.
