I found a picture of the diner. This is the walkway between the dining room and the bar. The kitchen is through the door on the other end of the room and the bar is behind the photographer. The booze was saved.
Thanks be to God.
With newly re-charged batteries, the thermometer now says a much more reasonable, but not appreciated, 31. I’d prefer something like 65.
JtC Glad all involved with the fire were ok. Hoping the business comes out the other side. And please continue the tales (heh tails) of GG overseeing mead production.
I want to go to bed, but I’m too tired to get out of my chair.
JtC, that photo made me gasp. I’m glad nobody was hurt and hope lots of people place to go orders.
Also, it’s a bad month for vanilla. TWICE the bottle jumped off the shelf when I opened the cabinet door. Both times the lid (screwed on, I swear) popped off. What a mess. My kitchen smells like vanilla, though.
nettie, I know just how you feel. Good for you for taking precautions!
Same here! We only had them when The Wizard of Oz came on TV. We couldn’t eat dinner in front of the TV on any other night. I don’t know why I loved that movie when I had to hide my eyes during so many parts.
If vanilla is practicing for the Spice Apocalypse, we are in serious trouble.
You knew how it ended. Plus, TV dinners
We like to let the Grumpy Old Man cat out to eat GG’s kibble and pee in GG’s litter box for a few hours when GG is in my stitching room taking his afternoon nap. That didn’t happen today because we were doing stuff, so I tried to do it after my last post. GG was awake and peering under the door when suddenly GOC looked under the door. GG is now hiding under the bed and I don’t think we will see him again until hubs dispenses their nightly treats.
That doesn’t sound bad at all to me. Annoying to have to keep buying it because of spills, though.
Buddy’s as usual being a doofus about fussing to go out when it’s low 40s outside. Then he just STANDS at the door for about as long as I’ll put up with it, tail swishing side-to-side. He did go out last time, but I’m pretty sure if I open the door soon, he’ll come running.
Priorities!
Could be worse. Could be pickles.
DEFINITELY the TV dinners! While I liked some things in the movie , e.g. Glynda and her translucent crown, I didn’t like the melting of the Witch (ew), or the Wizard helplessly floating off in his balloon. I was relieved it was just a dream, though.
Let’s face it: it’s a movie chock full o’weird.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 31 (BRRR!) Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 57 and N.O.S. for the day. Nowhere we need to go and nowhere we want to go, so a good day to stay inside and warm. The heat got turned on late yestiddy afternoon for the first time. It may or may not stay on until Spring. Who knows around here. We could have eighty degree weather yet. OYKW has a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for KFC, so he’s goin’ to go get some extra crispy KFC and bizkits at sup time. I shall make some field peas with snaps and mac 'n cheese to go along with. That should take care of tomorrow’s sup as well. Other than that, the usual sloth and general overall uselessness shall prevail.
JtC glad the place will at least be able to do burgers 'n fries to go in the meantime. Hope they get to re-open soonest.
red are you doin’ the jitterbug at irk by chance?
I read all but right now I have low comprehension, so yays, boos, hugs, trouts, chitlins, and how you doin’s all around, as needed,
Happy Firday Y’all!
Woke before 5, played some games on my tablet before hitting the shower and all that nonsense. Critters have been tended to and around 7, I’ll head out to have my blood drawn. Right now, I’m drinking water in the hopes that it’ll plump up my one good vein.
Once I’ve been bled, it’ll be home for breakfast, laundry, and basement cleaning. Oh, and it’s 25-stoopit-degrees at the moment. Which sucks. And so it begins.
Happy Firday!!
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 10c/50f with no predicted change all day, and isolated showers. Weather app says “It’s raining and Mother Nature gives zero fucks”, except it isn’t raining and I don’t think it has rained at all today. I can even see blue sky out there!
nellie Ophie doesn’t seem to mind the trip to the vet, it’s only a five-minute drive up the road. She is always very chilled out when she’s in her carrier, she usually settles down for a snooze. Whisper gets a bit anxious, and Shadow will have had a poo before he’s even made it to the car. The vet and the nurses do like her though, she’s very hard not to like
Sunny Kevin, the spare cat, is still visiting us. In fact, he’s got his face in some food right now. He is very quiet when he comes in so half the time I don’t know he’s in the house until he shows his face. He came out of the bedroom just now so he must have been asleep under the bed. I keep telling him he needs to go home so his owner doesn’t worry about him, but he takes no notice.
'im indoors has manflu, he’s been complaining for days about his symptoms and has done a couple of covid tests (all negative) but somehow refuses to accept that he’s got a cold. Hmm…coughing, sniffing, sneezing…sounds like a cold to me.
He has an appointment for a haircut later today so he will be going out, I think a walk in the fresh air might do him good instead of staying indoors all the time. He is also grumbling about not being able to go to the gym but there’s no point if he feels rough. We are supposed to be going to see some bands tonight but he might not come along if he doesn’t feel well. I hope he’s not expecting me to stay at home with him 'cos I am very excited about seeing a bunch of Aussies!
Waiting in the parking lot for my turn with the vampires - they won’t start for another 5 minutes or so and I’m #4 in line. Glad they have a hotspot and I have enough battery for a while.
Rah!
And I’m back home again. I’ve had breakfast, I’m caffeinating, and shortly, I’ll head downstairs and get to work Good times!
JtC, your mention of saving the booze reminded me of one of my favorite local bands’ version of The Old Dun Cow .
nelllie, my last company was a restaurant supply warehouse and occasionally, a pallet of foodstuffs accidentally tumbled off a forklift when being dropped from the rack. The most odoriferous ones in my memory were dill pickles and another of garlic oil. Now, in small quantities, I like the smell of both, but when half the containers on a pallet break open, it’s more than a little much (we actually had to evacuate for a while with the garlic oil).
swampy, no jitterbugs of this sort were done, but next week, hand resetting a bunch of this
kind will be in my work station.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels in the dryer, a load of jeans in the wash and everything else on deck. It was a balmy 22F when I took Nelson out this morning, which is too damn cold for middle Tennessee this time of year. Momentarily, I need to call my current auto insurance company to fire them, then call the CU to ask what the hold up on my new card is. I hate talking on the phone that much. Other than that, I’ll clean the hovel and shop for groceries today.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
‘Oh, God. Please let it be blood!’
Morning all. Got another full 8-9 hours sleep last night without interruption, whatever they put in the Ny-Quil stuff really works well. Chest sounds clear and no coughing at all when I arose, so maybe the cold has finally moved out; but I’ll still dose myself just in case. Boo fae, feel for 'Im Indoors, sounds like he has what I’ve had. Actually pretty nice out, 40F heading for 51F and no rain in sight. Ran the budget for the rest of the month and it’s looking good, barring unforeseen expenses the last couple of weeks, so need to do the December budget in a week or so. Might even get a little house cleaning in.
JtC, thanks for the pic, hope the insurance covers it and glad no one was hurt. I’d buy a cheeseburger or two if I was close enough.
Seanette, a High-Vis jacket is never a bad idea, IMHO. Glad you survived…
Haven’t watched “The Wizard of Oz” in many years; really have no ambition to look it up, being I’m old enough to be the Wizard these days…
red, know what you mean about talking on the phone…e-mail and texting has pretty much made calling a third option these days.
OK, paper in and pill taken (I’ve forgotten it a couple times this week) so onward into Firday!
The basement is clean and ready for company. Daughter will bring tables and chairs from her school - we’ll set them up tomorrow. First load in the dryer, second in the washer.
I downloaded Spotify on the basement TV and I’ve been listening to Big Band music. I was born in the wrong decade.
Ok, back to work - I need to find enough flatware for the party. I think I have enough plastic forks and spoons.
I remember when I was in university, I lived off of things with gluten in them - bread, pizza, and beer. I thought I’d never be able to give up gluten.
Nowadays, I find gluten-free versions of things I liked. Cake mixes, bread, pizza, etc.
I was so sick when I developed a gluten intolerance and wasn’t sure what it was. Nowadays, I might miss some of the foods I liked, but I’m just glad to be alive.
Good morning everyone.
It’s a very brisk 26 degrees outside with clear skies and an expected high of 48 degrees. Right now is prime dog poo-picking-up weather, so I will be doing that very soon.
I forgot to mention yesterday, that while I do stuff the turkey, I also bake the remaining stuffing/dressing mix in a pan after cooking and combing the ingredients.
The husband woke me when he came to bed and woke me with his snoring because he took of his BIPAP mask, again. I couldn’t sleep, so I went to the spare bedroom and slept there until 6:30, which is a good amount of sleep in time for me.
I’m sorry about the diner, JtC. I hope they recover.
I don’t have plans for today, but will probably run the roll-suck around and hopefully get a last mow in. I have all kinds of leaves and fir tree detritus in my backyard, so I can use the mower to suck all that up and then put it away for the season. I’ll have to wait until this afternoon for that to happen though because it’s white with frost outside right now.
I’m glad you’re feeling better, Metal Mouse.
I saw the basement pics on the Book of Faces, FCM, and it all looks great!
While my cough has disappeared, for the most part, I still have that stupid stuffy nose, but no real mucous. I’m beginning to wonder if I’ve developed an allergy. I’ve never been allergic to anything in my life, but I am well and truly sick of the stuffy nose.
Well, I suppose I should go upstairs to my WFH office and quickly validate my timecard, and log back out again.
I hope you all have a great day!
Truck is loaded, I’m about to head off to the client’s house to do an install. It’s little coat closets and drawers under a bench for putting on boots and stuff. Hope the snow holds off until I can unload.
