Same for my lovely wife, who has located products made with other grains (tacos, tortillas, pizza crusts, pie crusts…).
The heaving was easy today. The screw up fairy must have been exhausted after the last 2 days.
We’re glad, too. And yay for finding some gluten free stuff you like.
Hallelujah! Progress on the eye surgery front! The clinic told me again on Wednesday that I’d need to fight Medicare to get the surgery covered, but this time they gave me the procedure code. I called Medicare again today. The first rep called the clinic’s reasoning “ridiculous” and transferred me to the claims dept. The rep there said, “Yep! It’s covered because it’s for severe astigmatism.” And he said I CAN’T submit the claim. The clinic has to do so, and Medicare will then cover 80% and my supplement will pay the other 20%.
I called the surgery coordinator at the clinic. She’s going to get the business office to submit the claim. Hopefully that’ll happen sometime this century. It’s SO bizarre that the clinic wouldn’t do anything. Hopefully this’ll make it easier for any future patients who need this procedure for the same reasons I do. I wonder how many have paid out of pocket when they didn’t have to.
FCM, good luck with the party prep! I know with you at the helm, it’ll go smoothly, and everyone will have a wonderful time, especially the Birthday Boy.
MetalMouse, glad you’re feeling so much better!
We’re glad you’re alive, too! It seems like the gluten-free stuff is pricier, but at least it’s out there.
Excellent! I’m so glad for you.
Does he have an owner? I’m not his owner, but I will worry about him for that mysterious someone. I’m a worrier by nature. I’ll just add him to my list.
I’m with you. Yuck.
We had the same sort of rule in my house. We got to eat in front of the tv for The Wizard of Oz, the Sound of Music, Gone with the Wind, Oklahoma, and The Pink Panther. If we didn’t get tv dinners, my mom would make popcorn on the stove, which was also a very special treat.
Us too!
I’m glad it’s covered. Now we just need to speed the spiders with pointy sticks after the clinic and get this done!
I got a lot of administrative sort of stuff done this morning. I am feeling like I’ve reached the end of my spoons for the day. I’m going to settle in with books, and maybe watch a movie later with the family.
This is really my favorite time of year. Short days, cold temps, free sky water, my birthday, holidays. It’s all good!
Hugs everyone. Happy Friday!
My sister is hosting T Day. She ordered gourmet turkey pinwheels with cranberry stuffing wrapped in bacon. They haven’t arrived and the supplier says they were shipped on the 10th but has no tracking info. She was quite beside herself. I told her cancel the order. I will bring a beef tenderloin from the local butcher. My BIL has had to have his DBT stimulator, adjusted at the clinics which is a 2 hour drive. She doesn’t need to worry about turkey.
Howdy Y’all! Been a day of high sloth and uselessness. We napped, we day drank, we slothed some more. OYKW got the KFC and the bizkits and we et sup. I am reminded once again that I don’t like KFC bizkits. Neither one of us do. Now if we can only remember that in the future. Is it Ok to feed bizkits to birds? If so I will crumble them up and scatter them in the back yahd. Birds seem to like hangin’ out there.
Nellie Yay for the approval for the surgery!
MG we are glad you are among us too. May you find many gluten free products you like.
WetOne a beef tenderloin sounds yummy.
red those are the kind of phones my oldest brother and his wife have. I am actually surprised they have any kind of tech stuff at all. They are somewhat Luddites.
MetalMouse glad you’re on the mend.
BooFae I say leave the old grump at home and go enjoy yourself.
A group of us from The Home went to pack boxes with meals for Save My Starving Children. That’s one well-oiled machine and they are doing a lot of good in the world. Today’s effort is headed for El Salvador. In about two hours, Team Zombie packed 14 boxes with 36 sealed bags for a total of 504 bags, each with six meals per bag, for a grand total of over 3,000 meals. Each bag contains rice, soy, dried veggies and rice. The entire large group of people volunteering on that shift packed 177 boxes (you do the math). They often have five shifts per day, so that’s a lot of chow.
Month two of my Block of the Month is, at 24 x 24, the largest block I have made yet:
I took this class to learn more technique. It has not been disappointing so far. Month three will be a lot of flying geese.
Lemon bars have been made and are cooling. My guest gets very sick if she eats even a little whey, so I had to choose something that could be made with margarine and contained no dairy. Did you know some margarine contains whey? Anyway, I made honey dijon salad dressing, as many dressings contain whey. Also, I like this dressing.
swampy, biscuits shouldn’t hurt the birds, as far as I know. Maybe someone with more knowledge will weigh in. The KFC item I dislike is their mashed potatoes. A lot of folks seem to love 'em, but to me they taste like they were made with nonfat dry milk and shortening or oil instead of butter. Yuck.
Cookie, that sounds like a great organization. Kudos for helping with such a worthwhile project.
Hippy, that’s mighty impressive. You’ve probably said this already, so apologies, but what’s the finished product going to be?
Hippy that’s beautiful!
I’ve never had any desire to learn to quilt, and when I look all the work and precision involved, I know I chose correctly. Beautiful work!! I’ll stick with crocheting my cat butt coasters.
I need to label freezer bags. I thought I’d pulled out half a chicken. Turns out when I smoked the chicken, I packed 2 legs in one bag, and a wing and thigh in another. Which means there’s a wing and a thigh and 2 breasts in the other freezer. None were labeled. Why did I pack them that way??? Very yum, tho - I need to get another whole chicken to smoke. After the holiday, when I have space in my freezers.
Speaking of coasters, I’ve been churning them out pretty fast. I’ve got 4 sunflowers, 4 daisies, 4 gray cat butts, and 4 beige cat butts. All since yesterday. As soon as I finish here, I’ll get back at it. I want 20 cat butts in all so I can make 5 sets of 4. Then I’ll start on finger puppets. I found a pattern for farm animal finger puppets and a storage bag that looks like a red barn - it’s too cute!
OK, back to my recliner. Them butts won’t crochet themselves.
@nelliebly
This is the picture of the finished quilt:
Month one was to make the 21 pinwheels.
Month three will be to make all of those flying geese.
Thanks
Yay for surgery approval nellie!
I really like both the block that you just completed and the design of the completed projected.
swampy, the last time that I ate KFC chicken, it was really salty. Generally, when I get a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for fried chicken, I go to Popeye’s, Bojangles or Publix (surprisingly enough, their fried chicken is restaurant quality). I miss having a Church’s in town, simply for their biscuits.
That organization sounds like a worthwhile cause cookie. The task line reminds me of packing backpack boxes at Second Harvest.
Moooooom, you have my curiosity up about the cat butts. Could you please share a pic?
Houseirk is done, groceries bought, dog walked and supper et. Now to mess around in the studio.
What about something Christmas-y? Red and green coasters? Snowflake coasters! I think those would be pretty.
Why don’t sows’ pants have porkets? Just wondering.
Just got back from The Beach bar for burgers and Manhattans. I could barely taste the guacamole. (Should’ve been avocado slices, but anyway…) Still, good burgers. Had I known they still had steaks though, I would’ve had a steak.
I will, probably tomorrow. I turned off my computer already.
I have a personal dislike of holiday-specific stuff like that. Plus I don’t have either red or green yarn and I don’t plan to buy any more. I hope to use up what I have.
Truer words were never spoken!
FCM ~ queen of coasters! (but then we knew that)
