Cake Day - A Sweet Treat in the MMP

Good morning all. Slept well and since I didn’t start coughing until I had to get up and use the bathroom, I stayed in the sack until 9am. I am feeling better, but think I’ll today will still be like the Doc who talks to the animals (Do Little). Am sucking on a cough drop and once breakfast settles in, I’ll medicate for the day. So JtC, stop worrying, I’m on the mend.

FCM, hope FCD can find some help with his parents; it seems like they need alomost 24/7 help these days. And Happy B-Day to the Tobester!! Enjoy your knitting.

Emily, Butters, it is good to hear from you two. Both of you have storms to ride out; hope everything works well for you.

Boo fae, sounds like you’re being smart on getting the prescriptions filled; I imagine a lot of people just let the vet handle it and don’t realize they could be saving money.

swampy, congrats on the new slippers. I have two pairs I alternate with, so they are probably good for a couple more years.

OK, onward into 2sday. Take care all.

Photos, please!

Mad chaos after a easy start. And next week strats Peak Season.

Happy Birthday Tobester!
(is that a pacifier holder, or a bungee cord attatched to his shirt?)
And hop
e you can find some help for the in-laws.

Something like that. Though I have to get gluten-free cake mixes these days as I recently developed a gluten intolerance.

Nothing really new here. I sometimes use cake mixes, but stores usually have only yellow, white, chocolate, an occasionally lemon, so if I’m making a spice or carrot cake, I make it from scratch. I often make chocolate cake from scratch if the recipe is moist.

And can we talk about those tubs of frosting? I’m not a fan, though if I’m in a hurry, I’ll nuke some to pour over brownies, or I’ll mix in some cream cheese, which makes it taste more like homemade.

FCM, as I understand it, any change in environment exacerbates dementia, but only temporarily, like a week or two. I really believe FIL would be this bad were they still in Florida. A neurologist is a good idea. Hopefully they can get him right in. How’s your BIL doing? Tobias is such a cutie. You can see he’s starting to turn from a baby into a little boy.

It really does!

A hurricane would give me storm shudders. Butters, you’re a trouper!

Howdy Y’all! Thought I’d sneak in a pre-sup post, just cause. It’s been off and on rainy today and warmish. Sloth, day drinkin’ and nappage were accomplished along with laundry. I have also sent out an email to beg find out the availability of folks for servin’ various roles for worship over to the church house in December. In addition to four Sundays (one bein’ Christmas Day itself), there will be two Christmas Eve services, one at four p.m. and one at ten-thirty p.m. Fun times ahead for me as the long sufferin’ scheduler of stuff!

MOOOOOOM hope FCD has been able to find out some info on services available. I shall join in the chorus of y’all did the right thing to bring them close by. Hope the Tobester has enjoyed his day, even though he will get celebrated later. Good on you for volunteerin’ to knit stuff for the fundraiser.

Nellie I do not use the canned frostin’ stuff. My god daughter, however, loves the stuff and will eat it right out of the can, especially the chawklit kind. Her mom buys it for her, but lets her have it sparingly. She’s a little sneak about it though. A couple of weeks ago she wanted to eat some before goin’ to school (she’s in Kindergarten). Her mom told her she could have one spoonful. She then proceeded to get a servin’ spoon. I swear, that kid is enough like me to be mine!

MetalMouse glad you’re feelin’ better and that whatever version of crud you have is goin’ away.

Happy Toosday!

Happy Birthday Tobias!

Cold 29 degrees this morning.
No park since the plumber was coming. I’m glad we stayed home, the office called and said they’d had some cancellations, and the plumber was available earlier.
It was the main line as I had expected, he cleaned it out and all is good.
He suggested we take out the basement sink, since we don’t use it anyway, and cap off the pipe.

I am so glad he didn’t have to come inside. Cerby went berserk and that was after a Prozac and two Trazodone. He barked, and howled, and screamed, and whimpered, just a total freak out.
Ripple and Echo take their cues from me, it I am friendly, they are friendly.
Cerby doesn’t. He was totally out of control and not responsive to us at all.
I had him on a leash to keep him away from the door and he twisted and turned and pulled. I thought he might try to bite me, but he didn’t.
He needs a lot of work.
I feel so sorry for him.
I’ve never had a dog like him. I suspect a lot of his issues are from no clear authority at my mother’s house, so he had to take charge and that is not good for a dog’s mental health.

We’ve had a mix of rain and snow this afternoon.
Cerby wanted to stay out in it, which is fine by me as long as he doesn’t bark too much.
When he finally came in, he had to rub his cold wet self all over my legs to dry off. I was not amused. We’re going to have to keep a towel by the door.

I even enjoy a bad g&t.

FCM Here’s hoping things get better, and I agree that bringing them north was the right thing.

sari Yes to towel by the door. One of Cinnamon’s favorite things was to go out in rain/snow and come back in and get toweled off. Then go back out to do it all over again.

Annoying day today. I special ordered a countertop from Lowes last week, was supposed to arrive today. I check online…no record of this. So’s I head to lowes first thing in the AM…they don’t know anything. An hour on hold to learn they don’t know anything at corporate. Finally, a chat leads me to go contact the store and they need to contact the vendor. 45 minutes of sitting at customer service and it comes rolling out from the back. “Oh, it just came off the truck.” Yeah, why is it warm then? The trucks are sitting in 30 degrees.

Last time I ordered something from Lowe’s I got a notice that my item was ready for pickup, then I quickly got a second notice indicating that “I” had picked it up, thank you for using Lowe’s, blah, blah, blah. I was not amused.

Yep, it’s a passy lanyard. Daughter made several.

FIL doesn’t remember anything about last night, but he wasn’t belligerent today, so there’s that. FCD has an appt tomorrow at the VA facility to see if they can do anything for FIL.

Tobias had his b-day cupcake - from the pics, it appears he enjoyed it. I had turkey noodle soup for supper. Chillage shall ensue. I’m beat.

That’s great news about the BIL wet one.

More hugs for you and the rest of the Chat family Mooooom. Happy birthday to the Tobester!

Congrats  on your new governor JtC!

butters, I think that Buddy is pretty close to Nelson’s size. This is the coat that Nelson wears between ~35F-60F, but in a small rather than an XS. Easy on, easy off and it keeps the chill off.

I flashed this morning, then wiped for a new client this afternoon. !@#$ing new customer! I know that several of you love their service, but if the stuff I did today is any indication of what their trade ins and overstocks are going to be, we won’t be making much, if any, money turning them around. !@#$ing old school tech! I haven’t seen some of this stuff in years, when I owned it (in my old position, I only saw product in bags or boxes, not up close and personal).

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Evening all. Completed a day of sloth as I let my immune system and the various stuff I ingested/swallowed/sprayed into my nose do their work. In general I feel pretty good, but still have sudden bouts of coughing. My big worry now is that it doesn’t settle into my chest and I have to cough up a lung or two to clear things out. So far, so good…

Got an e-mail from someone who says they have ‘hacked’ my computer and have embarrassing pictures/film of me that they will get delete for a price–in Bitcoins. Fortunately I do not have a camera or photo app looking at me, so I know it is a scam, so into the trash bin it goes…

Oh, really now!! [looks for swampy’s swoonin’ couch].

Sounds like I need to take my trade to the Home Depot instead of Loews…

OK, need to get the Mac-n-Cheese in my belly so it can assimilate and check the evening’s internettin’. All y’;all take care.

red I think Buddy is close to 15 lbs. I will know next week when he goes to the vet. I like that coat though and the price is right. Thank you.

Sunny I don’t have shudders. I have hurricane impact windows which is great cause shudders are a PITA. Sonny boy does help clean up afterwards. The season is over technically on 30 November so hopefully I’m done for this year.

Moooommm I love leftovers but they don’t so when they go overboard… I do plan to freeze any leftover turkey for soup. The turkey I got is 13.46 lbs so not too big.

I cooked a roast in the crock pot today and it was delicious. I spent a little time playing in the dirt until I got too hot. All that changes starting tomorrow night. The Artemis launch is tonight at 104 am. I would really like to see it as it is historic but don’t know if I’ll be awake. Probably will be with my weird sleep habits. If it goes. They have scrubbed it twice already. It will be the largest rocket ever launched from Kennedy Space Center.

Howdy again y’all! We supped and got the kitchen cleanded up. Then we resumed sloth. OYKW is abed now but I’m not quite ready to sleep yet, so I’ll futz about teh intartoobz for a bit.

red Nelson has a snazzy coat! I’ll bet he’s the envy of all his doggie friends.

Have a good night y’all!

Booze always makes everything better.

This is the time of year that everyone wants slippers.

Toby is becoming quite the little boy, isn’t he. They are both too cute for words.

You have NO idea how true this is. The vet has to buy small amounts and of course has to make their money stocking the meds, but many cat meds have a human use so getting them from a place that gets a bulk discount saves a bunch of money.

That sounds just horrible. I love bread so much, I would really cry if I couldn’t have the good stuff anymore. I’m glad you found out what was making you feel bad though so my pity is mixed with happiness.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s cold and wet. It feels like November.

It was on the special heated countertop truck?

So you don’t want me to tun in my telegraph machine?

At least Christmas isn’t on Monday. If you want to hear kvetching, tell the Altar Guild ladies they have 3 hours to change out the church between the noon 4th Sunday of Advent Mass, and the 4p.m. Christmas Eve Mass.

Morning, mumpers! It’s 8c/47f with a predicted high of 9c/49f and mostly cloudy. That’ll be why I’ve had to pull the blinds down in the office because the sun’s too bright on the screen. Weather app says “Don’t like this weather? Wait a minute, it’ll fucking change!” I wouldn’t be at all surprised since it was damp and murky when I left home this morning, and now it’s bright and shiny.

metalmouse hope you feel better soon! 'im indoors has a nasty dose of manflu so he is busy trying to work out which medications to use to either make his nose run or dry it up.

Moooom belated happy birthday to the Tobester. I hope FCD gets some help from the VA too, although it does sound like some small improvement if FIL is less belligerent now. However, you don’t know if it will happen again, especially if MIL isn’t controlling his meds properly and he’s not capable of doing that himself.

I have a week at work and then I’m on leave for a blissful week…I really can’t wait! Had a flat-out exams panic yesterday and today after one of the departmental exams officers dropped the bombshell that he wants all their exams on campus and in person rather than online. Yeah, bit late to be telling me that one…fortunately I have friends in the right places so managed to sort that one out with a minimum of fuss. I need a holiday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 50 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 58 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. We’ll have lows in the 30s and highs in the 50s over the next few days. BRRR! We shall procure provisions this mornin’, with the goal bein’ to procure enough that we don’t have to go next week which is Turkey Day week and thus will be a madhouse at the grocery sto’. The rest of the day shall be the usual sloth and general overall uselessness. Sup shall be boxed lasagna (don’t judge!), sallit, and cheesey garlic bread.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and oh so much bother, I suppose I must needs purtify and don attire appropriate for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. How I suffer!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

So pictures of you in your robe drinking soda and watching trains on live feed? How mortifying!!!

That’s not a good option hereabouts. The HD is farther away and we generally have lousy experiences on the rare occasions we go there. I’m assuming it’s a local management issue rather than a chain issue. Not that Lowe’s is any great shakes, but mostly we’ve done OK there.

Food Lion didn’t break out the little turkeys till I’d bought 2 big 'uns, dammit. The 17# beast has been smoked, cut up, and it’s frozen till Moanday. I figure I got about 10# of meat from it. The other one is close to 21# and it will be roasted - then my daughter wants to carcass to make soup. And I’m in a minor panic because we’re doing our dinner on Tuesday - for some reason, I thought I had more time. So lots to do in the next few days.

And yet, I often have words for them that don’t relate to cute and do relate to “STOP THAT!!!” Kids…  Yeah, they are little treasures.

I wasn’t kidding with the comment about T-day panic. I’m glad I made a menu list, but now I need to figure out timing since the bird will monopolize the oven Tuesday morning. I can do the sweet potato casserole in the toaster oven. I’ll bake the pumpkin pies on Moanday, and maybe do the gingerbread then, too. I was going to do brussels sprouts au gratin - I should probably check the recipe, because I’m pretty sure I’ll need an oven for that also. Daughter is doing the spuds, MIL is bringing green beans and dressing and gravy - I need to ask if she’s going to bake the dressing ahead or if I’ll need to do it.

Then it occurred to me that if we’re not eating till 2, I should have some munchies. I see deviled eggs, olives, a pickle tray, and maybe some carrots celery sticks. I’ll peruse my list and recipes after I get rid of the Tobester this afternoon. It’s Library Day with the kids, since it’s too cold and damp for the playground.

I had a good sleep, but already I’m exhausted. Oh, and we’re hosting a b-day party for Tobias on Sunday, so I need to get some pulled poke done before then. I need to be twins to get it all done.

Happy Wednesday and all that crap.

Morning, all. They finally “fixed” the heat in my classroom, just in time for a bit warmer weather. The biggest issue is something they can’t fix. Ever since the plague, classrooms have to cycle through considerably more air than before. When the thermostat says the room it at temp, the system starts pumping in ambient air from outside. This results in the room pogoing around from warm to cold to warm to cold to…you get the idea. Annoying, but I get it.

The landscaper came by yesterday to give me an estimate on completely redoing the back yard. Was quite reasonable, really. They’ll do the first half the week after Thanksgiving, then finish the job in the Spring when the new trees will have a chance to thrive. I’ll lose the field of poppies that usually fill the yard, but it will be worth it to get the whole thing finished. Then I can start obsessing over getting the windows replaced. Home ownership - when your life isn’t complicated enough.

May all of your Hump Days be dromedary.
